I've been to Burrito Girl a couple of times over the past few months since starting a job in the neighborhood. One thing I really like about this food truck is that you can text (or call) your order in and it's ready when you arrive. The friendly staff are always happy to see you come in. There's a picnic table and a bench in a nearby garden which can just make your lunch magical. Okay, no unicorns running around but the flowers and greenery really help lift your spirit when cooped up inside for hours. I guess I should mention the food; it's awesome! I was a bit skeptical about the reviews of the carne asada, but it's true- it's GOOD! So far Ive had the carne asada burrito, carne asada quesadilla and yes, carne asada tacos. Every item Ive had has been delicious. I want to call out the quesadilla for the spot light, however. This thing has copious amounts of cheese and meat and comes with a side of rice and refried beans; it made two lunches for me. I personally LOVE love love the green sauce here. One day it may be mild, the next it can knock your socks off; it packs a punch with a nice blend of cilanto. I recommend getting an extra one to drench the carne asada in, or eat some chips with. It was a lucky day. We love Placido's and Hummingbird Wholesale where the Burrito Girl food truck is located. We've seen it countless times, but today was our first visit. Wow!!!! These women deserve rave reviews. It's awesome that the burritos come as a bowl or wrapped burrito which is nice if a person is avoiding carbs or gluten. This little gem of a restaurant uses organic veggies and beans which is wonderful! We ordered the lamb burrito, bowl style. It was a perfect size and more like a flavorful salad. TONS of lamb too. Not skimpy like other places on protein. Here's what was in this gem of a bowl: Tzatziki sauce, lamb, avocado, onions (I asked for grilled rather than raw and she kindly allowed for the modification which was delicious!), feta cheese and salad. I held the tomatoes off, however, it comes with tomatoes. The other order was a grand burrito with choice of protein. Typically we'd try carne asada, but instead spiced it up with chorizo as the protein. Great portion sizes as shown in the photo. Each lunch comes with a side of tortilla chips and homemade salsa which was light and fresh. All around yum!!!!! Glad we finally stopped to try Burrito Girl! We'll definitely go back. read more

Went here with a buddy about a week or so ago. I had heard of this place but for one reason or another I hadn't tried it before. Well, this certainly will not be my last. I know you can only make a burrito so good but this was darn near the best I've had. In order to keep my cholesterol at its peak, I went ahead with the grande burrito with asada. I thought it was a very good deal at $9 considering the size and quality of ingredients. It also came with chips and some homemade salsa (watch out it had some kick). Her new-ish location is right off Shelton McMurphy Blvd in a can't miss parking lot location. Seating is very limited (only one table from what I can remember) but many people had called in orders ahead for pick-up. We pretty much drove past it almost twice until a random "BURRITO GIRL" sign magically appeared with sunburst shone in the back. This is one of the best carne asada burritos ever. I'm from Southern California where Mexican food is next level and I've been to Mexico a handful of times. This is an experience (yea I feel lame for saying that). Let me elaborate... I ordered the Grande Burrito and chose carne asada for the protein: - They didn't skimp on the carne asada. Packed to the gills with protein. Grilled perfectly and had a light oily marinade coating the meat. Naturally tenderized from the marinade. The meat alone is an orchestra of flavors. She should protect that marinade recipe at all costs. - Packed with sliced advocaco. - Perfect proportions of beans, cheese, rice. This isn't like Chipotle where you're eating a rice burrito and the meat is a happy coincidence. The meat is abundant and explosive! It's like the lead guitar, singer and bassist. The beans/cheese/rice function as the drummer helping move the song along a groove. - The green salsa is cilantro-based. Reminds you of chimichurri. The chopped cilantro leaves are bright green with no cilantro stems. Finely diced leaves with some mild green chili in a water-based marinade. Never had anything like this. It's new to me, but amazing because it resets your palate to prepare for another bite of the burrito. Like the ginger's role in a sushi dish. There is something mysterious about the carne asada marinade. It had a playful verve and spiciness about it. It's the same impression you get when you eat Thai food for the first time. I can't say enough about it! Burrito Girl could easily get a Michelin star. It has that quality of cuisine that obviously comes from a long line of tradition but entirely stands on its own. The best carne asada burrito I've ever had. I only have three constructive criticism. - You get free tortilla chips in the bag. I would suggest pack it so it almost overflows. This is actually a psychological trick for the consumer that Five Guys uses by putting a ridiculous amount of French fries in your bag. - The tortilla was flaky and chewy at the same time. That is precisely what I wanted. The only problem is that it was somewhat loosely wrapping the burrito contents. Ideally, it would feel uniform in the hand if you pick it up. Maybe just my preference. - The red salsa tastes very similar to Tapatio. I think there's room to create a unique red salsa if they applied their obvious sense of imagination. read more

I opted for the burrito grande ($5.75) with asada and was pleasantly surprised how flavor packed it was. The asada was tender, sliced small, and had minimal fat. It was wrapped around hot refried beans and rice, fresh avocado, melted cheese, and I think there was fresh salsa or it maybe it was finely diced tomatoes. It also came with a side of green sauce and a handful of chips that looked and tasted house made. The grande was just the right size to eat in one sitting. Not huge for the price but it filled me up. The cart is no longer on W 11th. Not sure when it moved but it's now located at W 5th between Lawrence and Washington Ave. There is outside and covered seating area with private parking. Cash or credit is accepted. Service was very fast, however, Burrito Girl herself wasn't all that pleasant but I was there for a burrito not her. read more

This is perhaps the best burrito truck in town. They have a sign on the front of their trailer warning that hate is not allowed there and if they stand with lgbtq community members Muslims, refugees and immigrants. The food here is amazing, and I feel confident that all of their food is very clean. The service is friendly, the atmosphere is quaint and Charming, and I'm always welcome there. I have been known to walk from nearly the other side of town just to get one of her bean and cheese burritos. If you ever get the chance, go ahead and check her out. I had seen the truck a few times and been meaning to give this place a try, as they advertise pupusas (El Salvador's version of the tortilla, only thicker and often stuffed with cheese or meat) for sale. If you have never tried one, this is the place to have your 1st!! We just got back from lunch and boy was it worth it. The menu is basic and includes tacos($1.75), burritos ($5.50), pupusas ($5 for 2 includes pickled cabbage). Their meat choices include pork, carne asada, and chicken. We all ordered the pupusa plate. You can choose to have cheese, pork, or a mix of both in the pupusa. It was about a 10 minute wait, as we watched her cook up the 6 pupusas we ordered. When the food was ready, we were blown away at the quality. They were steaming hot, as the food had just come off the grill. The meat and cheese was great and blended great with the grilled corn tortilla. Cash only. They are open M-F 11-5 and Sat 10-4. There is only 1 table with 4 chairs if you are planning to eat there. Lovely service, great breakfast burrito, even better price. I've seen this cart out on W 11th and never had a chance to make it out. They now have a location on 5th and Lawrence so I had to try it. The breakfast burrito was cheap and delicious, however not the largest burrito I've had (hence the price). Service was great, the cashier was wonderful and my food was prepared swiftly. This place has a lot of potential. Being that it is on wheels, they could put this near any pool and it would be a match made in heaven. Leave your trunks at home though, because it is not currently located near any aquatic centers. Despite this, I do see myself coming back on a dry afternoon. read more

The papusas are unusual and really tasty. They are handmade thick corn tortillas, with pork and cheese mixed in with the mesa before frying. $5 will get you two of them with hot sauce and sour cream and a side of a sauerkraut-esque thing called curtido. The plate doesn't look like a ton of food when you get it, but it is filling and satisfying. The only complaint I have is that it said "horchata" on the cart but they didn't actually have any.
