This was a nice find, we were looking for a local breakfast spot in Eugene. Right off of the Beltline on Coburg road, you will find Buddy's Diner. Its a classic diner with bar top seating, many booths and open tables within a very small space. Don't be scared away from the waitlist or large families waiting outside the door, they seem to turn tables very quickly so plan for a little bit of a wait, but its worth it. We got lucky and two bar top seats opened up, we waited about 10 min. We were greeted by a very friendly waitress who quickly offered us menus and filled our drink order. The menu is quite ample, lots of breakfast options, from scrambles and omelets to many shakes and desserts, if you are looking for lunch they have burgers, sandwiches and wraps. We ordered breakfast, I had the custom option, two eggs, bacon, sausage and added a side english muffin. The food was well cooked, good portion and great tasting. My son ordered a custom, 2 biscuits and gravy with an egg and hash brown, he loved his meal. The pricing was fair. We did not have much of a wait time from the time we ordered to getting our meals. I came here wondering why a burger place would close by 2 PM because I just had the thought that that's what this was. However, besides burgers, they also serve a number of breakfast items like pancakes and eggs and so forth. So I decided to go with the breakfast menu and ordered half order of biscuits and gravy and eggs Benedict. I must say both were extremely good and just the food alone I will come back. Went on Father's Day this year. 2026. There was a short and fast line. We waited about 10 minutes. I got one biscuit and gravy with sausage and eggs. We'd never been there before. There were 5 of us. The hostess and waitress were amazing and the food was out of this world delicious. I could only eat 1/2 the biscuit as it was so large. I ate the eggs and sausage. Definitely your typical greasy spoon type breakfast place. We had a group of 6 so we had a bit of a longer wait. The kids breakfast portion is huge! I got the red velvet pancake special which was a fun version of pancakes except for the cream cheese icing that came with it, I was glad I asked for it on the side. Our waitress was super friendly. The rest of our party got sandwiches. My husband didn't love his chicken fried steak sandwich but over all we had a good experience! A friend of mine recommended that I go to Buddy's for one of my favorite meals - Chicken Fried Steak with Gravy. They only serve breakfast (all day) and lunch. And the Chicken fried steak (Love Me Tender on the menu) that they serve is breakfast style with eggs and potatoes and bread choice. I ordered that with crispy hash browns, over medium eggs, and a biscuit. Nice plating... and a tasty chicken fried steak too (although you can't see it under that excellent gravy (large chunks of sausage in it!). Hash browns were good, as were the eggs. I loved the homey vibe immediately upon arrival. Hostess friendly about helping me get my name on the list, not too long of a wait, and even though it was busy, it wasn't overly loud the way some restaurants can be. Our waitress was spectacular-gave us recommendations about menu and she was (again) friendly and efficient. I got a blueberry pancake w both maple & berry syrups (didn't have to ask for them but she offered so I said sure!) as well as a side of bacon. Nice little old school diner. Our waitress was awesome didn't rush us and was very helpful with the menu items as it was our first time there. The food was grrreat, I had had the chicken fried steak and my partner had an omelette. The chicken fried steak with eggs and hash browns was tender and cooked perfectly. Buddy's Diner was a blast! Our waitress was extremely fun, outgoing and just a happy cheerful person. I cracked a joke at her and she ran with it and gave me comedy grief for our whole visit! That kind of personality is enough to keep me coming back regardless of the food. I was surprised to see they had a Malibu Chicken Sandwich. Haven't found a decent one of those since 1996. This one was over the top perfect and THE reason for me to go back. It came on a seedless bun with fresh cut tomato, lettuce, slice of ham with melted cheese, a honey mustard and TWO crispy chicken patties. It was so big I had to remove one chicken patty (bonus) just to have a normal sized Malibu. I also really enjoyed that extra chicken with my fries! This was spot on delicious with the crisp cold veggies and the hot crunchy crispy chicken. Get some extra napkins because this is not a dried out replica, this is the real deal. The chicken was well breaded and perfectly moist breast meat. The shoestring fries came out also nicely crispy with a side of fry sauce. Ketchup is also available on the tables. The Diner itself was a bit smaller than I anticipated, but the place was clean and well staffed. Apparently they have an extremely popular breakfast menu and I'm told it is served all day. We arrived at 11am and the breakfast crowd was still going at it. Waitstaff constantly available and assistive, busing staff constantly moving about removing empty plates. Everything flowed well, they are to be commended for keeping things flowing during a busy shift. The decor is all 1950-1960s rock-n-roll type memorabilia with Elvis pics, Beach Boys pics, surfboards, classic car grill... it's all there. When you think of the image of a classic diner, Buddy's Diner is exactly what comes to mind. They have all of the classic menu items you want for breakfast and lunch. They have friendly waitresses and your food comes out fast and hot. We went for a late lunch. She got a hot chocolate and the eggs Benny. The hot chocolate was way too hot to drink. But the hollandaise was phenomenal.  And the egg so well poached. I got a coffee and the biscuits and gravy. The coffee was also too hot to drink, and the gravy was fantastic. The parking lot is a bit much - with multiple other businesses sharing it, but usually, you can find a spot. The restaurant is well kept and has some great memorabilia on display. read more

Came here in a whim on a Sunday at noon. They were pretty busy and I think we waited about 30 minutes. They don't have a traditional hostess so you just write your name on a legal pad they have inside. The service here is fast fast fast! I love it!! The decor inside is super cute as well. Now on to the food, I got an eggs Benedict which was pretty good, not the best I've ever had but it was good! Hubby got the chicken fried steak that I tried and I really liked it! It had a really good crust on it. Now for the reason they got five stars.. the stuffed French toast!!!! It has cream cheese on it which makes me think of of toaster strudel icing, and the best part is the marionberry compote. That thang is bomb dot com. We could not stop talking about it after we left.
