Wow, I can't believe I slept on Pupuseria Del Valle for so long before trying it out for the first…read moretime this past summer. Since then, I've visited a few times and have ordered a few different types of pupusas, all of which have been absolutely delicious. Each pupusa is freshly prepared and served with curtido (pickled cabbage slaw). Each pupusa is a pretty large size - I order two each time, and 1 1/2 in, I'm usually pretty full. Pupuseria Del Valle operates out of a food truck in Common Fields. Unlike some of the other food trucks there, you order directly at the food truck's window. After ordering, you receive a restaurant pager, so you can sit down and wait for your food. The wait time is usually between 10-15 minutes. I'd never gotten a chance to try a pupusa (only gorditas, which are somewhat similar) before eating them here. I'm so glad I tried them for the first time at Pupuseria Del Valle, because they are now one of my favorite foods!

I tried their bean and cheese, cheese, and pork papusas with curtido on a warm Saturday morning. While I'd ordered only two, one of the choices was accidentally given with my order. They brought out the correct one for free, so I ended up with three. The bean and cheese and cheese were my favorites. While I'm used to green curtido, the purple tasted as delicious! It had just the right amount of tang. The food was quite filling and I had to take a box to go. By the way, this is a food card with a secure location in a small food truck area located south of downtown, within walking distance of many shops. The two staff working were kind but there was some mild confusion when I placed the order, which was compensated for by them promptly making a correction to the order.

Service was very friendly and personable. As I was there, a lot of regulars came in and were greeted warmly. Always a good sign. The complementary chips and salsa were just okay, but I did enjoy the refried beans they included. I went with the Combination Los Dos Hermanos, which features some Salvadoran dishes. It comes with a pupusa filled with shredded pork and cheese and a tamale filled with chicken. The pupusa is kind of like a tortilla packet. I found mine to be very delicious, with yummy pork and rich cheese. The tamale was good too. I loved the tangy cabbage salad that came with the main dishes, and the fried yucca root was super tasty too. The rice was okay, and the beans were good; I think they might have been red silk beans, but I am not sure about that. I was checked in on a few times, and it was a great lunch experience. I will keep this place in mind when I'm next in the area!

We walked in around 11:30 on a Monday. We were greeted with a smile. It wasn't too busy yet, which was perfect because we were seated right away. The decor is very authentic. It made you feel like you were vacationing in South America. We both ordered the Pollo a la Crema. I don't recall seeing this dish on a menu before, but it was delicious! The chicken breast was cooked in a cream cheese style sauce that was seasoned perfectly. You have the option of flour or corn homemade tortillas. They were fabulous! Overall I really enjoyed my first visit. If I'm ever in the area again, this place would be first on my list. Highly recommend.

Family owned second generation with both indoor and outdoor sitting. Well I'm so regular here that Yelp doesn't let me upload newest photos... ummm how do I get around this? Anyway, summer didn't officially start until I made it here for my favorite ceviche and fried plantain with sour cream!!!!! I'm so glad I got to go on Friday 6/26/26 to enjoy my usual and started my summer break. I'm loyal and biased perhaps, yet I searched near and far and their lime-based tilapia ceviche is still the best I have eaten! You have to check them out and I welcome you to challenge me with your recommendations. One of these days I might and it's a big might to breakout of my favorite and order their supposedly expert roasted chicken and decide for myself if it lives up to what they say. Until then, I will vouch for their delicious lime based tilapia ceviche and will make the drive from SE Portland for it anytime.

After about 30 minutes asked the other server if she could take our order. She gladly did and the food came out piping hot and super tasty. I failed to take a picture. I got the chimichanga with chicken filling and ate between one-third and half before getting full. Guacamole was fresh and had just the right creamy texture. Black beans were also a nice smooth creamy texture and with a good depth of flavor. The rice was the typical red-orange rice. I would definitely return. The COOK presented us the check. WOW. that was a first. I must say, the Margarita was excellent. I do not like, at all, cilantros and asked for no cilantro salsa. I was given a tomato soup liquid instead. The only restaurant that did not use any cilantro was Los Baez and sadly, after 40 yrs. the owners retired. How hard is it for any Salem restaurant to make no cilantro salsa? And the flour tortilla came straight out of some factory and NOT made by a human. I should have gone to Safeway first and bought a package instead.
