Absolutely incredible. I had the beef pupusas and they were freshly made in under ten minutes and came with a crisp and tasty slaw, sour cream, and a spicy salsa with just the right amount of heat. The proprietor was very friendly. I had the seating to myself, with a mix of small and large tables to choose from in a covered and fenced in dining area. Everything was very clean, organized, and well-kept. Pupuseria Juanitas is easily some of the best food I've had in Eugene and I will be coming back frequently to try everything on the menu. Juanita's is hands down the best. I'm a Bay Area native and ever since I got to Oregon a decade ago I've been craving good pupusas and good Mexican/Salvadoran food. The man who cooks and runs the stand is a sweetheart. His service is always with a smile and he is such a hard worker! The tacos are delicious. The burritos are fucking huge. The pupusas are made right then and there (no heating lamps = fresh). My boyfriend also got the flautas which is basically a giant grilled burrito. My boyfriend loves the Al Pastor, the carnitas, and the chicken. I'm vegetarian, but their cheese and bean/cheese pupusas are out of this world. Their green salsa is killer and their portions are generous. Inexpensive, big portions, friendly service, and great food. This is a FOOD CART. Be happy they have any seating at all, it's a cute area (other reviewers complaining, boo). They are also cash only but there's an ATM in the corner store they share a parking lot with! read more

Not everyone can make good pupusas. They require fresh ingredients and the expert hands to shape and mix them, and the end result is what brings you back for more. I had this place bookmarked forever and finally gave it a try when I realized I just moved right down the street. It's an easy food cart to miss because it sits back from the street in a parking lot but once you know it's there you will want to keep going back. I ordered the grilled burrito with chicken and for 6$ you really can't go wrong. I mean, a giant burrito for 6$? Is that even possible? I'm also always happy to support small businesses and I think it was the owner who took and made my order. He was really nice and even added some avocado free of charge. The burrito was good, the chicken was kind of dry and I wish there was more lettuce and condiments like sour cream inside but I loved the grilled tortilla. Being a former CA native I feel my word on a grande burrito is final. I have had MANY burritos in my time, and feel mine are the best next to my Avo's. Juanita's is the BEST burrito on the West Coast. Hands down, no questions asked with no contest. California is famous for it's "Super" Burrito. The PNW needs to be famous for Juanita's Big Burrito. Everything is made with love and the beans are homemade. Not only is the burrito huge, it is only $6 OTD. Avocado / Sourcreme is free. Done deal. In CA, locals have to take out a mortgage just for those sides. My only negative review is that they don't serve Lengua or Cabesa. This is really great food served by a happy humble man served quick for a price that suits the working man. Tip these people, and try a huarache sometime! This is the kind of place that can be visited multiple times a week because for 5 dollars the burrito is big and competes against what you might be able to make at home for the same price. I'm a fan of street tacos and these are my favorite around. I usually get the carne asada. The pieces aren't too big or fatty. Cooked just right! You don't even have to pay for extra avocado it comes with it! They have green and red salsa. I always prefer the green. It's very affordable and quick for a filling lunch. read more

Oh boy, their soft tacos are mouth watering. They are one of those places that are kind of funky (I love it) but have great food. As I've said before I usually wind up ordering the same thing at a restaurant every time I go but that's because it's so good I don't want to try anything else.(Yet) I've talked to people that are waiting in line to order and they all say that everything is delicioso. So friendly and Honest! One day I was at a doctor's appointment and I realized my wallet was gone, you know that feeling of panic that you have. I hadn't gone anywhere else besides Juanita's so I drove back there as fast as I could and I had left it out on the counter and they had found it and had tucked it away for me all safe. If you're one of those poor saps who have been duped into thinking that you can only get great tacos at a chain Mexican Restaurant or, God forbid, Taco Bell, you need to go to this place. Yes, it is in the Whitaker, in a parking lot and it looks kinda sketchy. This shouldn't discourage you. This is some of the best Mexican food in Eugene. This food is made by the same woman, with help from friends and family, in her food cart, day after day. She is dedicated to her craft and it shows in the food. And the prices are great. Whenever I go to a new city I have the tendency of trying to find a Pupuseria. I am really picky with my food and even more so with my Salvadorian food since I have eaten the best whenever I go back and visit el Salvador. This place was a nice pleasant surprise. I have never met a man that knows how to make pupusas. Not only that but he wasn't even Salvadorian. He was super nice and told me how his wife is the saladorian one and how it took him a long time in order for him to get them right. I don't normally like how most restaurants make their pupusas but this place was pretty legit. The only down side was that the curtido was a little too bitter for my taste but it wasnt too bad. I moved here from bigger cities so I appreciate yelp because I never know when I'm in a "sketchy neighborhood" until longtime eugenians tell me. I guess there were a lot of skateboarders... but as far as the pupusas and tacos, all legit and made me miss south austin tx a little less. The food here at times has been life changing. Other times it has been apocalyptic on my digestive system. The sanitation here is disgusting. If you are faint of stomach, do not venture to the Pupuseria. I have gotten sick here a couple times, but I return. This indicates the tastiness of the food and my poor judgment. Great food and pretty unique for Eugene (although there's a second Juanita's which sprang up on 7th/Chambers), their pupusas, sopes, and guaraches are excellent, and the curtido is to die for. Service is often slow and there is nothing but outdoor seating so get it to go if the weather is lousy, but don't skip it. One note, the burritos are huge but simple, and I would rather get them from a "burrito place" such as 'Amigos'. I once ordered a chicken burrito here and I got a 9" long tube of shredded chicken in a tortilla, nothing else inside! ;) read more

Actually pretty darn good pupusas! I've had excellent pupusas in El Salvador and these tasted very close to what I've experienced there (I'm no connoisseur of El Salvadoran cuisine, but these are tasty). The curtido (the coleslaw-like concoction that I like to put on a pupusa) tastes slightly different but maybe due to the produce here in the states is not exactly the same. Haven't tried the Mexican menu items yet, but looking forward to trying some next time. read more

Juanitas simply never fails to deliver. Whether you order tacos, burritos, or a pupusa when your order comes through the window of the orange trailer it will be some of the best our town has to offer. Everything from the service to the food is amazing. 2.00 is an average price to me for street tacos and his Carne Asada tacos are no joke. He does them a little differently with avacado and cheese. I personally give my husband the avacado and just stick with Carne asada, cilantro, onion and cheese. I use the green salsa which has a nice flavor and my husband who prefers spicy, goes with the red salsa. We always get fast and friendly service. You get nice sized salsa cups to go and when ever we have asked for extra, there is no charge which is nice. This is definitely a top contender of street tacos in Eugene for us! read more

It's unfortunate that this cart has been relegated to some hidden parking lot in Whitaker, because this place deserves a place to shine, especially when compared to a lot of carts parked in the center of town. The pupusas are great, simple as that. I'm not salvadoran so I can't really speak about their authenticity, but I know what I like. I have not found better pupusas anywhere else in this town, and trust me I've looked. My only issue sometimes is the wait, but by now I'm smart enough to call ahead. read more

I have eaten the pupusas here at least a dozen times and have never even thought it wasn't clean. It's a food cart. You're on a parking lot. It's not a five star restaurant. It is a little slow as they actually make what you order. The guy we always get ours from is happy with our poor spanish and we are happy with his food. Great carne asada.. cash only food truck so remember that when going. I would give a higher star rating but the man working charged me for my burrito and then made my friends and asked me to pay when she was paying.. we told him I had already paid and he just looked at me.. and I showed him the change I gave him and he said two dollars more and made me give him another two dollars.. left a bad taste in my mouth. Also had some bums come over and harass me while I was ordering and waiting for my food.. I don't like the location of the truck very well. However the food is always very good! read more
