We visited the Burrito Hut after visiting the Southbridge Convention Center for a wedding planning meeting. We all were starved and were looking for a quick bite to eat. This little take-out counter located in the parking lot of the Big Bunny supermarket has wonderful, fresh burritos and tacos. The chipotle chicken burrito bowl and barbacoa beef tacos are my favorite. Prices are reasonable and portions are generous. They do have a few picnic tables for eating there. read more

Awesome food...great Chef...I visited this place to eat Mexican food. Probably it would be my only visit to this place as I am just staying in this town for this night. I was little late and one employee said that I am late and they will be closed. She was offering me takeout menu for next day and I told her that this might be my only visit. I love me some burritos and this place didn't let me down. I ordered the Habanero Burrito w chicken. My buddy got the Meat lovers and we ended up splitting them just to try both. I definitely enjoyed the Habanero more (the Meat lovers was still good though!). It wasn't overly hot, but when you would finally bite into a piece of pepper you could definitely feel it. I was at the laundromat in the plaza reading the menu and someone said it was excellent, so after i finished the laundry, i called and ordered the fully loaded nachos. I am vegetarian so didnt get any meat on them. I picked them up, they give you all the sides (ask for guac). These were delish and a lot of food, ate them in 2 sittings. These guys do a great job. Food was fresh, quick and nicely packed for travel. They are friendly too! The nachos were only $8 with the guac. Perfect dinner for me. Looking forward to trying their other menu items. I made a Yelp account specifically to give this place a review. The Burrito Hut makes amazing burritos... when they get your order right! The staff is always friendly, and I'm sure it's just a matter of putting the right burrito in the wrong bag but that means 2 customers were disappointed with their order. Maybe I have very high standards but no matter the price, no matter the toppings, I want to get what I ordered. At this point, I've received the wrong order more times than the correct one. Burrito hut is located in the Big Bunny plaza in Southbridge. Window service and take out with outdoor picnic tables & umbrellas. The menu is a lot like Chipotle w/ burritos, bowls, tacos, quesadillas, but also a couple of burger options. I was there at lunchtime and there was a line 5 deep which was a combination of people ordering and picking up. There was 1 person on the grill and one person taking and filling orders by phone and the window. So, either go earlier or expect a bit of a wait. I had the pork quesadilla, which was quite good - not dry at all and just the right amount of peppers and onions. I also has ordered the corn salsa, which was made with roasted corn, peppers, and tomatoes. They did forget my sour cream, so just double check your bag before you leave. read more

We came here after visiting Sturbridge and it was so worth it. The service was fast and it has outdoor seating which is great on a beautiful day. The menu is very well priced. Around $7-$8 for a burrito but they also have tacos, enchiladas, etc. all made win the freshest ingredients and tons of meat. Hubby and I wanted something that would remind us of our time in Texas, and boy did we find it! The hot habanero sauce is spicy and delicious. The burritos were so stuffed, and so were we! I eat at this place more times then I'm proud when they open each year. The burritos are normally pretty good. Last year I move to the tacos cause its just enough food that doesn't make me fall asleep at my desk. But I ate the tacos today for my first time of the year and it was terrible. The chicken was so over cooked and looked like cat food and was tasteless.The corn tortillas just fell apart when you picked them up. I ate the whole meal with a fork. I noticed the quality going down at the end of last season with both the chicken and the beef items. Hope they can pull it together. I will be back next week hopefully it's better If not guess I will be going back to more Thai takeout and claim strip rolls while at work read more

How have I missed trying Burrito Hut in the 2 years I've lived in Sturbridge? I stopped a couple of days ago for the first time and got a pork burrito w/ extra sour cream and guac. Quick service, friendly staff and the burrito was excellent. I was only able to eat about 1/3 of it for lunch which meant that another 1/3rd was quickly on the table that night for dinner. I had the rest cold for breakfast the next day and it was incredibly good. I know -- cold, really? -- but try it: fantastic, and a healthful meal to boot. I was happy for them but selfishly bummed for me to find they were closed Sunday, but all was not lost -- got another burrito for lunch today. read more

Stopped by on a Saturday afternoon, Memorial Day weekend en route from CT to MA (a frequent route for me) and looking for fast service Mexican food that was not a franchise. This place had so many great reviews it seemed worth a few miles' detour from the area where I-84 in CT meets I-90/Mass Pike around Sturbridge, MA. This is in Southbridge, which is much more run-down than its historic neighbor, Sturbridge. Aptly named, Burrito Hut is indeed a burrito stand, like a permanent food truck, in the parking lot of a down-market shopping center, something called the Big Bunny that looked like a background from a National Lampoon's movie. The Burrito Hut had a variety of menu options, which was nice to find, as well as a specials board. There was a big picnic table outside, but it was next to a small dumpster, so we took our food to go. The food arrived quickly, within 2 minutes. The gentleman working at the counter was friendly, helpful, made sure to ask me about options and be clear on what specifically I liked and didn't like, and made sure I knew I had given him extra money (which I had meant for them to put in the tip jar). That was nice. The food was ok. The lettuce was fresh, the guacamole was not. The rest of it was ok, nothing I would go out of my way for, but the taste was ok and preparation was fine. Fresher guac would have made a big difference, but mine had that slightly yellowish green color, with no noticeable cilantro--I'm a fresh guac enthusiast so this was disappointing--although still edible, it wasn't very flavorful. Portions were generous. Prices were very reasonable. Considering the price, quality was acceptable, not superior and not poor. I think if it's a convenient spot for you, and you're a local, it should be fine--filling portions, quick and cheap. If you're coming from a distance or have expectations of a flavorful culinary experience or local village ambience, it's not worth it. Given that it's an outdoor/walk-up venue, I would suggest adding a big ice cream menu! If I had to eat in Southbridge again, I would go back. But I doubt I would go back to Southbridge. read more
