We were searching for something close to our hotel and this looked interesting. The beef that comes out on a hot stone was all it took for me to want to go. We split a salad that was big enough for a meal, my wife had the bolognese, and I had the steak. It was super rare, but as I cut into it, I would lay it onto the stone to allow it to cook a bit more. I like it on the lean side of medium rare and my wife prefers a bit more. This was perfect for us to both enjoy it the way we like. Her pasta was excellent as well and we enjoyed sharing the meal. A bottle of wine topped off a great dinner. The weather was rainy so we opted to sit inside and it was warm and welcoming. Our waiter was helpful with our choices and we enjoyed his observations. The only thing I can say that was off, was the older woman who was paying her bill before me was pressured into leaving a tip ( service charge, is what he said). I was prepared for that but was not asked to tip. Great meal, we enjoyed it immensely, but the service charge that was scammed out of the 70+ year old lady in front of me kind of left a sour taste in my mouth. As others have said, this is no longer the name of the restaurant- it is now Il Panzerotto. That said, I disagree about the food quality. We had a calzone and traditional spaghetti and both were delicious. I don't even know how to describe the calzone. It was unlike anything I've had before but SO good. I literally cleaned my plate with the last of the breading from it. The owner/chef was Luca. He was upset with the host because he had burned the plastic on the outdoor tent as he had placed a heater too close to it. We ate here before our night tour of the Vatican. It was a very short walk and we're glad we ate here. We started with negronis which were very smooth. Next came limoncello spritzers, which were absolutely divine, bright and refreshing. They served a bread basket along with some fried dough balls that were warm and salty. Along with that came olives with orange peels. Both complimentary bites were a nice touch. My hubby ordered the filet, medium, with a side salad and I ordered the seared sea bream with a side salad. I know it's just salad, but the simplicity of the greens, olive oil and lemon were so deliciously paired with the warm fish. This is no longer the name of the restaurant but based on reviews written here we decided to try it anyways. It was the worst food we've had like ever, not just in Italy. We ordered pizzas which were thin like crackers and so hard they crumbled when cutting(which you have to cut yourself by the way). The friend calamari was overcooked and I ordered the grilled calamari dish w salad which smelled so bad, our table was getting nauseous over. I tried cutting a tiny slice to cut it and it was like cutting into rubber. I had to split it out immediately. It tasted like spoiled fish which I hope no one ever has to try. The funny part is that the waiter came out after taking my plate back chewing my calamari and came out to tell me it wasn't too bad. Even the table next to us were complaining to the waiter about how they've never had such terrible food. So needless to say, I wouldn't recommend this place. The restaurant has a very appealing approach to reviving you after a 3 hour Vatican tour. Their menu has many typical Roman mandatory plates. We loved this place, but my hubs is a vintage Vespa collector, so he was exceptionally geeked. This place is super cute with nice staff. The tapa (for lack of a better term) of the olives with lemon were amazing. We also go their meat and cheese board. Great wine selection. Ordering a bottle always makes more sense, regardless of country. My husband ordered a pasta dish with a lamb ragu I believe and I got the prawns. Everything was delicious. It's likely no surprise that the best pasta I've had in my life was during our trip to Rome. We also got some aperitifs and their port wine tiramisu, which was a game changer. SO good. Of course the layer of cream helped... I do not understand the great reviews here. I was looking forward to this, since the reviews were good, but I was really disappointed. The service was nice, and the place is cute- but my spaghetti pomodoro was just awful. Possibly the worst plate of pasta I've ever had. No flavor whatsoever. I could have poured sauce out of a can and had a more interesting meal. It's often the simple things that show you how good a restaurant is- and this one failed big time. I will say the bread, and fried pizza balls were great as were the olives. My husband had the tuna salad with olives (Nizzaro?)- and he wasn't too disappointed. Nothing special- but at least his wasn't horrible. But he agreed my pasta was awful. The service was top notch. The waiter and waitresses were really nice to us and our daughter. When we had to change her diaper, they tried to make arrangements since they didn't have a diaper changing station. They also kindly took the dirty diaper and threw it out in the outside trash bin. This was a totally friendly baby friendly restaurant. Did I mention that it is close to the Vatican? It is located about a 5 min walk from the Vatican exit. The restaurant is cutely decorated with a vespa outside. It looks really quaint. The food wasn't that memorable. We got two pastas that tasted okay. I wouldn't come here for the food. It's a cosy little place, with simple but tasty food, friendly staff and great music. I had beef Carpaccio with Parmesan shavings as a starter. They put truffle oil on the top; great combination. On the backside of a tour of Vatican City, we decided to fill our need to live by more than bread alone. Yelped this convenient bistro and found our way over to it for a sit down lunch. The whole place has Vespa mopeds inside and out, just in case you weren't sure you're in the right place. Small but quaint, not a lot of servers (common all over Europe). A whole lot of menu items to choose from, so if you didn't like it, you didn't choose wisely. I ordered a simple homemade lasagna which I enjoyed, but the Mrs. wasn't as accurate with her choice. She opted to get spaghetti and meatballs thinking it'd be better in its country of origin than in the states. Perhaps, but not here. The meat was unseasoned and the sauce was plain, and that was unexpected. I guess if we had saw Karen back there in the kitchen we'd have known to order something she couldn't mess up. I did. The experience was pleasant and the staff abliged to grant to the patrons' request for pictures and special seating (except for on the Vespas). We stumbled upon this restaurant after we had left the Vatican Museum. Service was great. Considering it was Rome, they were very attentive. We ordered the Clams and Mussels in White Wine Sauce for our appetizer and Veal Liver in Gravy for our entree. The restaurant provided us with a bread basket along with some fried dough balls and a plate of black olives. Perfect small bites to start off our meal. The clams/mussels in white wine sauce was very good. However, the highlight of our meal was the veal liver. It was spectacular. This was the best liver I've ever tasted in my life. So good that we could not believe it was liver. The liver itself was very tender and flavorful but the secret is in the gravy. Apparently, the waiter told us that it is an old Venetian recipe which the chef uses. The waiter actually brought out the chef and we could not thank him enough for the outstanding dish. read more

We had a delicious dinner here last night. We had the mixed bruschetta, with five different kinds, the caprese salad, pesto pasta, and the carbonara, followed by the homemade tiramisu. The caprese was delicious! The cheese was flavorful and the tomatoes were perfect. The bruschetta was delicious, especially the one with sautéed mushrooms on top. I had the pesto which was a perfect portion size, and it was very light and delicious. My husband had the carbonara, and he said it was fantastic. He is not a big dessert person but he loves tiramisu. I am a huge dessert person, but don't care for tiramisu. However, it was delicious, and I'm glad we tried it. After touring the Vatican all afternoon we used the trusty ol' Yelp app and found this to be the top restaurant nearby. We took the chance and Yelp did us right once again! Perfect spot for our last meal in Italy... The vegetarian tag attracted my wife, but this place serves plenty of meat dishes. The food is on par with other spots around, but it gets 5 stars because the owner turned down a rowdy group of 6-8 guys that just wanted drinks. On a slow day, that's a hard thing for an owner to do, but I (and the rest of the patrons) really appreciated it! What. How does this place have such high ratings? I came here after touring the Vatican Museums. The two servers working were very nice. Ordered a pizza topped with salami and a tiramisu for dessert. Before the meal starts, they give you complimentary deep-fried pizza dough balls--which were AMAZING. Then my pizza arrived, served on a wooden platter. I could smell the damp wood; in fact, the odor was so strong, it somewhat overwhelmed the aroma of the pizza. The pizza itself...meh. I've had better pizza outside of Italy. The restaurant is pretty on the inside and is well decorated. I came with a larger group of 5 people and they seated us quickly and took our order. The waiting staff is very nice and helpful and this review is not meant to criticize them. However, they did not keep an eye on our waters and the food situation got worse from there. One of our dishes came out 20 minutes after the rest and one of the group members ordered the beef filet, which was poorly cooked and unseasoned. Excellent family owned spot near the Vatican. Recommended by our hotel staff as not "touristy", reviews on Yelp were good, so we decided to give it a try. First of all, location is prime. Just a few minutes walk away from the Vatican. The interior is also very cute, and the staff is very pleasant. The food is where the restaurant fell short. I had the Minestrone soup and the cacio e pepe. The Minestrone soup was solid. It was quite pricey, but overall worth the price if you're in the mood for soup. The cacio e Pepe on the other hand was arguably the worst pasta dish I had in my Italy trip. The cheese was way too strong and didn't mix well with the pasta at all. And you could barely taste the pepper. Maybe it was just the dish, and everything else is absolutely delicious. However, I was thoroughly disappointed with the dish (even though it was recommended by the waiter). If you come here, don't get the cacio e pepe. read more

The bruschetta was supposed to have olive oil and garlic, came with one whole garlic clove on a toothpick, and a few drops of olive oil on the bread. This place is amazing! The food is spectacular, the atmosphere is welcoming with its ancient brick archways and stone walls this is a casual/authentic eatery. The wait staff is accommodating and friendly. Roberto was our server and he remembered our names and also my friends dietary restrictions. I am happy to report that the good reviews of Bianco's were very accurate. We went on a Saturday night at just around 7 when the restaurant had plenty of people but still had a few tables open. The staff was friendly and accommodating and eager to please. Although many of the patrons were tourists, there were some locals as well. Typically heavy tourist places have lower quality food, but this place was an exception. The food was delicious and affordable. My dad got the lasagna and loved it. My mom and I shared a pesto cáptese sandwich if the specials and a salad. They were both wonderful. The bread for the sandwich was a little burnt but all the other ingredients were fresh and tasty. The salad was delicious as well. I definitely recommend stopping by when you are looking for a smaller more casual and relaxing place to eat. read more

Don't shy away!! When in rome eat here! We spent the day in the vatican and this was a 6 minute walk. Very convenient and close by. The food was outstanding and the price was certainly acceptable. We left completely full and it was extremely good italian homecooking. Special: codfish with tomato sauce and olives was phenomenal soft and flakey. Salmon was grilled to perfection and fresh. I had a pasta that was penne with bacon, tomato sauce and parmesan cheese super good. The quantity of food is plentiful and the quality hits right on the nail.
