Had our first dinner upon arriving Rome at Hoteria del Mercato and let me tell you they did not disappoint at all. The food was not only delicious as expected but they arrived quickly to our surprise considering Italians like to take their time preparing their food and especially when they eat. Let me tell you we devoured our food And our waiter Domenico was the best. He knew exactly what we wanted and anticipated our needs. We will definitely be back and try more of their cuisine.

Service here: impeccable. Kelle recommended a wine from Tuscany (they have an extensive wine list) that was beautiful. Up there with $100+ bottles. Ask for Kelle if you come. He's great. Had steak tartare, tuna tartare (must see pics) caprese and ravioli. Save room for dessert. Dining Al fresco a must but if it's too hot - go inside- ambiance is oxygenated . Oh... and fun bonus... you can SMOKE at the table. It was such a novelty to me that I didn't mind that the two tables next to me were smoking, and in fact didn't even bother me as the breeze was finely blowing. PS- if you are an avid Yelper, a "rewarder of great service" (like moi), you're probably a pretty good tipper, and if you are, make sure when you pay to inform them to add the gratuity, they don't ask for it and they don't give you a slip with a line to fill it in. Make sure you either leave cash or fill in the gratuity. and please, use your commas wisely... (I, myself, tend to over-use commas) PSS- when you read reviews of restaurants look at how many photos/reviews, etc they have on Yelp. Usually they're coming from zero people. Savvy diners know how to handle problems like being overcharged for a glass of wine (like a goofball that posted 15 minutes before me).

Inside is so cute and picture worthy. My salad was so good, but very pricy for the size. Service was quick.

    Crostatina

We had a lovely late breakfast/early lunch in the outdoor seating area. The prosciutto e mozzarella panini were delicious, as was my crostatina al albicocca. The hanging flower vines gave it such a lovely ambiance.

One of my best experiences on Rome! When in Rome, do Hosteria del Mercato! The place is neat, service is great and the food is just absolutely great (better say, to die for). In the middle of all the business, you can find yourself in hosteria del Mercato, where you can find calm. It breath calmness and positive energy. All the greens around the property make you feel super relaxed and happy. The staff are super nice and friendly and will do their best to make you feel comfortable. The food.... the food was one the greatest I had in Rome. super fresh, so flavorful, every single bite tells a story... And the setting was absolutely great... I have to say that hosteria del Maecato, absolutely exceeded my expectations.

    Simply amazing.

Amazing place from decor to menu to service. Menu offers the typical roman dishes (delicious pasta and vegetables) but also great salad. The setting is amazing and the service tops it all. Don't forget to have a look at the organic shop next door ... Simply an amazing place to stop for lunch or dinner during a shopping day in Rome.

Review # 1200 After…read moresome shopping on the Via cola Di Riemzo, we were ready for lunch. This spot was a Yelp find. We arrived just before they opened at 12:30. We asked for a table outside and the kind lady asked us if we had a reservation (oh oh). We didn't. No problem as we took our pick of one of the tables. Two levels inside with a small Bar in the back. Before we knew it, outside seating was full and inside also filled up-a good sign. We ordered a liter (ended up being too much but when in Rome...) of their house Red and enjoyed it. For starters, we ordered the Fried Artichokes (thick breading and will order the Roman style with garlic/vinegar next time), fried Zucchini and Suppli-Cacio Pepe. The Suppli was delicious and was enjoyed the most. For main, it was Pasta Carbonara (Guanciale )-Proper carbonara and the streak of not having a bad version of this dish in Rome continues. The sliced Beef with mushrooms was also delicious -super tender and thin pieces of beef (medium rare as requested). We asked if the Tiramisu was house-made. Our server answered, "yes, and I am the one who makes it." How could we not order after that?! One of the best Tiramisus we've had. Perfect balance of coffee dipped lady fingers with cream-delicious! Our Server was kind, attentive and full of hustle -she was covering a lot of ground. Don't miss this Gem if you are in the Prati district.

Already depressed knowing we were returning to the cold and fearful Minneapolis, we spent the day packing and wandering Prati. After drowning our sorrows at a few cocktail emporiums in the early evening, we walked into Su e Giu without a reservation close to 9:30. The two guys working the front showed us to a table, and we proceeded to have a perfect last night meal. Our appetizers and pastas were great, service was friendly, and I spent time reflecting on how wonderful Rome is, rather than thinking about our return to the fractured States. Su e Giu Cucina Romana is the perfect Roman restaurant to feel La Dolce Vita. It is a sweet life indeed.

This shop is more of a countertop order from their limited menu but the menu is executed so well you'll be tempted to order multiple bowls. There are a few stools and table out front to enjoy your food hot. Both times I've been on separate visits within two years, has only shown me how consistent their food and quality is. You can pair your dishes with an aperol spritz or mini bottle of wine for less than five euros. The pasta was about nine to eleven euros and the portions were more than plenty. The chef and owner are super nice and very informative about their dishes. If you are a fan of spice you have to try their chef-recommended dish. They had one dish topped with pancetta and I just about wanted to lick my bowl clean. Everyone in the group was raving how delicious it was. Egg will forever be on my must-have when visiting Rome.

I had possibly the most amazing chick food pasta a girl could imagine. Girls know what girl food is. The pasta in Italy is just better -obviously. But then put all sorts of girl flavors on it like Lemon and Orange, just lightly enough, zest with a small hint of cheese-..... omgosh. Yes, yes, and yes. Need my hubs to replicate at home. He is going to be busy trying to perfect this. Tagliatelle with orange and lemon parmesan. This was it. It was the best. Everything else we ordered was amazing as well. Wait outside. They don't have a sign telling you to wait, no server telling you to wait. You wait out there, wondering if you're in the right place, but then people stand behind you and you're like - oh! I'm here. This is the place. There are possibly 4 tables inside. It's small. I read about them being rude- we did not have that problem. In fact, they made a mistake and we kindly let them know we ordered something else- they corrected it and were nice about it.

We were both satisfied with our selections. Our meals started with bread service, both fresh bread and packaged breadsticks. We didn't receive any olive oil which might be the norm in Italy. For dessert, we opted for a slice of their featured lemon torta. It was enjoyable and we paired it with espresso. Finally, our server offered us a popular digestivi - Amaro. It reminded me of Jägermeister and I wasn't a fan. But I appreciated the hospitality and kindness of his gesture. In summary, we left content and with full bellies. Our server did a great job and the manager or owner acknowledged us and seemed to appreciate our business. All in all, this lunch was a positive experience.
