I shipped 5 packages weighing a total of 200 pounds from Virginia to Utah. It took 3 weeks for the first package to arrive, and SIX WEEKS later, the other four are nowhere to be found. Busfreighter doesn't manage the shipping so I have to endure the nightmare of waiting an hour every time I call greyhound customer service, who is of course as helpful as pubic lice. They will take your money and you will not be able to get in touch with them again. The number on their website redirects you to the greyhound customer service. They will just keep sending you back to that number which will in turn- send you back to Greyhound. Apparently there are only two people working there- Kelly and Kevin. The online chat for is manned by Kelly for about 5 minutes every hour. You honestly cannot pin them down or get them to respond to emails. I shipped my boxes TWENTY days ago with a 7 day quote. It has been nearly a month. I have not gotten any notification that any of my boxes arrived but was told to "just go there" by someone at greyhound. Save yourself the trouble and go through a different company. It may monetarily cost more but the piece of mind will be worth it. We moved from CA to FL and this was the cheapest option. Made sure to package and shrink wrapped all the boxes with clear labels as well as duck tapes the edges. It worked, only box was slightly damaged (insides are fine) and they arrived within 14 days. Would recommend them for long haul moves. read more

I used Busfreighter to ship 8 heavy boxes across country for ~$200. It's pretty useful when you're moving and don't have anything fragile in them. Most of my boxes got back to me in fair condition, albeit 2 that they lost for a month. You have to be VERY persistent with keeping on top of your stuff. I would recommend it to other people shipping heavy, sturdy objects for sure, anything that can break if it doesn't have good protection will break in your boxes. read more

I wish I had really known ahead of time what I was getting myself into. It took about a month and a half to ship my 7 boxes across the country. The price was great and super cheap - but you're getting what you paid for. The majority of my stuff arrived in one piece but one box in particular had been almost smashed to smithereens. Everything was wrapped tightly in bubble wrap and it came out in literal dust. Some boxes arrived totally fine and some were falling apart at the seams. So use super sturdy boxes!! And then additionally, my stuff had arrived at my location for 6 days before I had been notified and I was only notified because I reached out and then was charged a storage fee for keeping my stuff too long. The tracking basically just wasn't accurate at all. Also because busfreighter is the broker, all responsibility falls on greyhound. It's a lot of sorry that's not our fault sort of thing, and greyhound really doesn't care too much. So long story short, this is a SUPER cheap way to ship stuff. Don't ship valuables/breakables or anything you need in a timely manner. I would still used it again just pack differently! Hope this helps someone else. read more

I was so stressed and rushed with the moving of all of my stuff to another state so I didn't check at all. First of all they promise you 14-day express delivery from Boston to San Diego. For the price they offered and the amount of stuff I had to move I bought it. On the pick up day we had scheduled pick up time from 11 to 3. The guy came in around 10 am (which is way early than supposed to be). I wasn't home at that time and I needed 5 min to get home from the store. He refused to wait and left. Called the company and said that we had a time scheduled and a guy came in earlier. They asked me to pay extra fee of $100 for his mistake. Well, okay. Than he came back in 4 hours. He was driving Honda Odyssey with all seats behind and a lot different packages in a car already. And I had 8 huge boxes 100 pounds each and there's no space in his car for them. Probably I had to stop here and cancel their services, but I gave them a try. To make story short: I was waiting on all my boxes over 2 months. All and each of they arrived severely damaged. All boxes were ripped, and on the inside my clothes were wet and molded, some boxes had someones food leftovers!!!!!! Some of my boxes were replaced with other boxes. A lot of my stuff were missing, ripped and damaged. All of my clothes in the sand. I was really "impressed" when I found a package of a long tubes on the very bottom of my box and that was not mine. I had pretty expensive cosmetic line in the boxes, and the product itself was stolen, but they left as a reminder of it an empty box. I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND THESE SERVICES TO MY ENEMY. I was also scared to use it given all the negative reviews but in the end it all worked out and we saved tons of money moving from Chicago to Seattle. We sent 12 extra large uhaul boxes. They said 7-10 days which ended up taking 3 weeks but we were not in rush and it was fine. A few tips - Wrap your boxes as much as you can. We wrapped every box entirely with boxing tape. I would also use smaller boxes inside the large boxes to keep the box in shape. The only box that arrived in shape was the one with our shoes boxed in shoe boxes. - Mark the boxes as visibly as you can. We numbered them using huge white papers. "1 out of 12, 2 out of 12, etc" I think it really helped keeping all boxes together. - I called the customer service twice at 10 days and 19 days. The first call wasn't helpful (they just said how many boxes had arrived already and told us to wait) but the second call was answered by a very helpful agent who offered to trace the missing boxes (since it had been 3 weeks already). I gave her the description of the boxes (so having the large numbers really helped) and after two days they arrived and were delivered! read more

Probably the most inexpensive way to ship boxes large distances. My five boxes arrived in (more or less) undamaged form a few days after the origin al estimate of 10 days. The disadvantage of Busfreighter is that it uses Greyhound to transport your goods, and Greyhound's tracking software doesn't accurately where your boxes are. Additionally, I found it virtually impossible to contact the Greyhound tracing department - they simply don't answer the phone. Fortunately, the friendly staff at Busfreighter followed up for me. read more

Terrible experience: All they do is take the money, send labels. After that you're on your own with Greyhound. You drop off the boxes at the bus station. In my case, nobody was able to weight the boxes or scan the labels or even give me a receipt. I had to leave the boxes without any proof that I had dropped them off. I called Busfreight right away and they said I had to talk to Greyhound.... Boxes were sent on 08/27 out of Los Angeles. Destination Chicago. 3 our 5 boxes made it in October (almost 6 weeks), then another box arrived a week later, all broken. Now we are missing the last one. Not only Busfreight didn't help. My experience with Busfreighter has been extremely frustrating. I used them to ship my stuff from NYC to LA. My stuff was picked up on August 24 and still has not arrived in LA. Despite my constant outreach to customer service via phone and email, no one has gotten back to me and the tracking number I was provided does not work. I wrote an earlier review that the package had stopped for two weeks in arizona for two weeks, when it was supposed to be going to burlington vermont. I called several numbers with no help, I even called the bus station it was at and the GPX kept redirecting me back to a number I already called. I emailed sales at busfreighter.com and Kevin Pierce responded and he was able to get the package back on a bus going out. It finally arrived 9/06/18. It arrived in pretty much decent condition, even though the box had been ripped and retaped up. So the box was shipped august 18 and it got there sep 6 after some prodding. I booked a five-day door-to-door delivery service from Chicago to New York. After 4 weeks, i finally received 6 of my 8 boxes. Now it's been 6 weeks. It seems my other 2 boxes will never arrive. i called the customer support team almost every day and they just repeated the same routine - connect to me the escalation team and of course the escalation team either didn't pick up the phone or directed me to another team in CA which never pick up the phone. I have used the shipping service several times for my business. Out of approximately 7 shipments, 5 have had major issues where I have spent multiple times on the phone trying to track the packages. Most shipments have taken over two weeks and one was lost for months. Corporate is cooperative but they must deal with the individual, privately owned depots who often neglect following through on the shipments. I currently have one shipment that was shipped from Allentown, PA and was just going to Wilmington, DE. 16 days later and my customer still does not have her item. It is my business that suffers for this type of neglect. Its simply not worth the cheaper rates. I will not be using them anymore after this last shipment is located and do not recommend it for any other business owners. read more

I would highly suggest not using this company. I was moving across country from California to Ohio, and moving is already stressful enough, but this company was the worst possible decision for shipping I could've made. The only positive thing I have to say about this is that it's inexpensive but I guess you get what you pay for. I was told my five boxes would take around 14 to 17 days and it was a month and a half before I got all of my things. I had shipped five boxes from the Sacramento Greyhound station to the Greyhound station in Ohio using busfreighter. I received the first four in about three or four weeks, but never got the fifth one. It was the most stressful thing I've ever had to deal with and not a single person I spoke with was good at communicating. Each time I would call I was on hold for at least 20 to 30 minutes and I was repeatedly told the same thing by different customer service people, I would call to track my box and was told that it was lost and may have just gone a different route because it was heavier and would tell me they would put tracing number on it and call me with any updates I was never called in my box was never found. I was absolutely never notified when I finally got the first four boxes, I had to call multiple times before i was told that they arrived. Not impressed. The only reason I'm giving it three stars instead of two is because using this service allowed me to move cross country for a fraction of the cost of doing it any other way. However, it took longer than expected to get my boxes. Probably two weeks from the time of shipping. Then when I did receive them they were all pretty beaten up and looked like they'd been in a fight with something bigger and stronger. Then on top of that, two of my boxes are missing. They were supposed to come to Kansas City and somehow ended up in Arizona where they appear to be lost forever and now I have to put a claim in for them. Absolutely horrible experience. 1) Drop-off hours on the website was not accurate. I scheduled the drop-off hours from 5pm to 9pm. Got there by 7:30pm and was told the location closes at 7pm. 2) If your boxes are over the weight you paid for on bus freighter website, they would charge your credit card directly without informing you how much extra they are charging. 3) When the boxes arrive, you have three days to pick up the boxes. They charge $5 per box for each day over three days. And the pick up location closes really early and won't open on weekends. So you have to skip work in order to pick up the boxes. I was never informed about the extra cost and the pick up time. 4) Horrible customer service. Waited for over 40 minutes. Eventually I gave up and left a message. Now another 20 minutes have gone by as I am writing this review, no one has called me back. My recommendation - avoid busfreighter as plague. read more

They told me it would take up to 12 days to get here. I shipped my stuff Monday morning and I got a phone call from my saying all my boxes arrived. WORST SERVICE IN THE INDUSTRY I shipped six chairs from Delray, FL to Buena Park CA on the 16th of June. As of today they have not been able to find one of the chairs so they have not delivered to the destination any of the chairs and the return period for the chairs will expire. I have called numerous times to a service that has no idea other than to look at the same internet page that I look and confirm that the shipment is incomplete. Then they transfer you to another group (average 15 minutes waiting for somebody to get on the phone plus the transfer another 15 minutes waiting) so this new helper tells you that they have opened a tracing case but there has been no success on resolving the issue. At this point I already requested their claim department which sends you a form that has to be filled with all the information in order for them to analyze the claim. NOBODY has taken the interest in trying to find the missing chair or at least deliver the 5 they have in hand to the recipient. Also, the level of service commitment that the employees that answer the phone reflects that probably that is the worst place to work in the world. I'm extremely sorry for choosing this alternative to return the products to the vendor in California. Maybe if somebody from the company reads this they will pay some attention to this matter and try at least to recover the chairs or pay the amount of the claim. Don't use this service even if this is the last resort you have available. Most likely you will repent profoundly. ______ Update: I don't know if anybody from Greyhound packages reviewed this note but like magic the package was delivered today. I shipped out 15 boxes from San Fernando, CA, to Washington, NC, and was told the "estimated" time it would take was 14 business days. I used the Door to station service, so I would have the boxes picked up from my home, and then would pick them up from the station in NC. However, I based the shipment date on that 14 BUSINESS day estimate. I had my items picked up on June 1st, knowing that 14 business days would mean roughly June 20th. However, I made sure to put at least one Apple AirTag in a box so I could track it myself, which became helpful when I was told in an email that I would receive a tracking number as soon as the packages had been processed. A few days after they were picked up, I still had no tracking number, and within 10 CALENDAR days my 15 boxes were already in NC waiting for me. One of the boxes was severely damaged, with some expensive Razer speakers inside of it that are now broken, but because of the Greyhound "Exclusions" I can't make a claim for the damage. Not only did they tell me it would be 14 business days, but they told me I could pick my items up at anytime after 5 am, which was not true, because the pickup location wasn't open until 4:30 pm. The boxes were also all taped over by them, with various labels and such, however every label they had was specifically placed over my own labels of the contents of each box, so when unpacking my boxes I discovered everything covered in dust (?) and that I had no way of knowing what was in each box without opening and emptying each one. In short, my 15 packages traveled all the way across the country before I had even left CA because they told me 14 business days, but took 10 calendar days, damaged one box completely, and because of the exclusions that they don't tell you about until you are looking in to making a claim, I can't claim any damages through them. I also was unable to track all 15 boxes, only a handful of them plus the one I had my own tracker in. read more

I paid for a third party to deliver my order to the station specified in the time frame specified. The station was closed. They lost my luggage and broke three others. Some contents of the ones that were broken are missing. When all this happened I was given a number to call for help. I was passed back and fourth 5 times before I just called the main number and someone sort of helped me. It's a week later, I've filled out a claims form and they are supposedly trying to still find out where my luggage is. Everytime I call to inquire about anything I'm put on long long holds. When I reach out through email no one responds. Do not use them!! It's not worth it! This has been one huge headache and is costing me time and money! read more

Pack like your packages are going to get lots of abuse. I used plastic wrap, foam, tape, bubble wrap, and blankets and still had a few broken items. Some of the boxes were barely holding together, so I would suggest using heavy duty boxes. Obviously there are a lot of mixed reviews, but decided to take a chance and very happy with my service. I shipped 6 boxes from BOS to MSP door to door without any problems. They estimated 7 days, but arrived in 3. All the boxes were fine. I taped a lot and used shipping wrap. Multiple prints of the QR code and colored tape. I kept most of my valuables with me, but overall happy with this program. It seems hit or miss but glad that my experience was good. Good luck!! read more

I tried Busfreighter for the 1st & last time. Worst service I've ever experienced. The agreed upon drop off location was no longer accepting packages. Customer service was very rude & unhelpful. The only options offered was to drive to 2 other alternate locations 45 minutes away. The 2nd location also no longer accepted drop offs & the 3rd location would not answer their phone. Wasted so much of my time with a time sensitive package & still had to ship with a different service. Their customer service has the attitude like they have the monopoly on shipping services when in reality their service is non-existent. Do not waste you time. I am impressed with Busfreighter. I was somewhat concerned after reading numerous reviews, but forged ahead. I shipped six chairs across country from TN to CA. Greyhound service in TN was terrific. All six boxes arrived with a weeks time. Boxes were not damaged and chairs in great shape. I did have chairs well wrapped and boxes were welled taped and marked. I filled out the required request for a quote,after putting the necessary category ,upon putting in weight from 75-100 lbs and size of box from 44" - 84" and after the necessary location information ,lt was determined to be total $122.56 so I paid it to avoid wasting time at Greyhound bus terminal,after being weighed and measured ,l was told l was overcharged! Absolutely the worst customer service experience of my life. I shipped seven boxes for a cross country move and every time I called they couldn't even tell me where the boxes were. They would put me on hold and call various stations to try to find them. Most times those stations wouldn't even answer. It's been over two weeks and my boxes may or may not still be where I dropped them off - no one can even tell me. I won't go into too much detail as a couple of reviews recently have given a lot of great information. I shipped 8 large boxes from Davis, California to Indianapolis, Indiana totaling about 500 lbs and around $500 to get it from door to door. I did not have a truck so this was the best option for me, but you can cut about $50 off if you pick up and another $50 off if you drop off at the greyhound stations. It was fairly simple to put in my order, and I had pickup the next day with a pickup window starting at 10AM. At 9:50AM I got a call from GPX for information about the person picking up my packages letting me know they were on their way and what the truck would say on the side so I knew I wasn't just giving my stuff to a random person. The person picking up got to my place at exactly 10AM and came in and loaded all my packages for me...I didn't even have to carry them for him and he verified that I had labeled all the boxes correctly and he was going to the greyhound station in Sacramento. I started a cross country drive the next morning. My packages were picked up on a Friday and I received a call the following Tuesday from the person that was supposed to drop of the packages at my new location in Indianapolis, saying that all 8 packages had already arrived. That was way sooner than I had expected and I had not even made it over to Indianapolis yet! Anyway, they were able to hold my packages for me and deliver all 8 to me on the following Monday, when I was able to be more flexible to receive them. I did not try to track my packages. I did call the Indianapolis greyhound station after I got that call on Tuesday saying that they had arrived just to verify that they did have all 8 packages. When I spoke with them they said they only found 7 but the person I talked to was still in training and he said he had to go do something else. All in all, everything went even more smoothly than I had planned and I was very pleased with the service. All my belongings arrived and nothing was damaged. Much cheaper than PODS or UPack, which I looked into. I sold all my furniture so these were simply the belongings that could not fit in the trunk of my small sedan. read more
