I had to ship the boxes literally the next day after deciding to use this service so I really just hoped that things will go smoothly. I did read that it's better to go directly to Greyhound, but I just didn't have the time to research further and I'm not sure if Greyhound delivers door to door (which was really convenient in my situation). So for 6 boxes being shipped from NYC to FL, I'm beyond happy that they arrived within 3 days, with no damage or issues whatsoever given that I only used packaging tape to wrap the boxes and nothing else (with breakables inside too!). Overall, seems like Busfreighter can be hit or miss. Definitely delivered a great service for me. read more

Detroit, MI to Las Vegas, NV I graduated college and was due to leave Michigan in Aug. 2020. I shipped 370 lbs and paid $138.00. All of my items came days BEFORE the due date. I was very shocked as I was expecting to not see my packages for a month or so because of the previous reviews I had seen on here. I made sure I labeled each package and wrapped them tight. 4 were boxes of a variety of sizes and 1 was a suitcase. I also made sure I got a tracking number. No damages. Packages came early. Super cheap. Communication was fine when I called to see if my packages came. I wasn't on a long hold or anything. They told me the time and date it had arrived. My experience was great. I would 100% recommend to anyone trying to move nonbreakable things without a strict timeline. I was VERY VERY hesitant and nervous about using this company especially after reading all the reviews. The main reason I am writing this is to provide a little bit of reassurance and advice on how to successfully ship your stuff for cheap with no damage! I apologize for it being so long. I shipped four packages total, two moving boxes and two opaque plastic totes weighing about 50/60lbs. each for a little over $100 from Michigan to Arizona. They were full of clothes, shoes, bedding and random household items. 1. Use opaque plastic totes if possible or newer moving boxes. Totes can't hold as much but there is less chance of them getting smashed. 2. Fill them completely with stuff - this will also help them keep shape. 3. Number your packages with bright paper - "1 of 4", "2 of 4" etc. I made about four labels with thick sharpie to put on multiple sides of each package. This helps keep them together as a shipment. 4. Use packing tape and duct tape to excessively tape up your bins and boxes. Make sure you tape them around the edges and folds. I used packing tape around normal areas like closing the boxes and then duct tape to reinforce all the way around/edges. Just be smart. 5. Print multiple copies of the labels that busfreighter sends you after you order so you can put them on multiple sides of each unit. I printed four copies and posted four of them on different sides. 6. FINAL STEP- wrap your packages in stretch wrap! I purchased mine at home depot but you can also get it from fed ex! I wrapped mine around three times for each unit. I did the drop off and pick up from greyhound locations option. I dropped mine off around 3pm (Thursday) and was told that it would take about 10 days. UNLIKE what other reviews tell you, you do not need to call for the greyhound tracking number. It is on the top of your receipt that you get after dropping off your shipment. There is a picture of my receipt and the tracking number is the GLI number circled in red. Use this link and input that number to track your package: http://www.shipgreyhound.com/e/sitepages/trackapackage.aspx Once I got to the tracking page, I signed up for the email and text notifications for updates on my shipment. They do not update/scan at every location so you will go long periods of time without update, don't worry. No need to call and hassle them just trust the process and wait. On the 11th day (Monday) I received an update that my packages left Phoenix (20 miles from the location I was picking up from). The next day, I called the final destination location and asked if my packages had arrived. 3 of my 4 had arrived and she told me I could pick up 3 now or wait until 4th comes in. I asked how I could track the 4ths location and she said told me just as I was tracking the others (no help) but she said my packages were large so it might take a little extra time. The only bad thing I can say about busfreighter is that it was not clear by the tracker where my last package was. So, I decided to call the 800 number that is listed on the tracker. The lady told me that 3 of my packages had left Chicago and one left Phoenix. (also no help at all since 3 where at the final destination). I went to pick up the 3 and as I was getting there my 4th package was getting unloaded. I recognized it because of my bright numbering labels! Immediately, I received a notification that all my packages were ready to be picked up. I was so pleased to see that all my packages were there! The greyhound worker was very friendly and helped me get them into my car. They were all in EXCELLENT condition. I could not have asked for a better, smoother way to ship my stuff. I paid for 7 boxes to be shipped from TX to OK 4 day door to door service. After reading the reviews however I felt like I might not receive all of my boxes. I ended up with 6 boxes instead of 7. They came to my door and collected the boxes. I wasn't in a rush for my boxes so it was around the 6th day I called to track my boxes. Customer service was great. They reached out to TX who then called me back the next day to verify they had 6 boxes out of 7. Confirmed and they shipped out. The next day in OK they called me to confirm all 6 boxes had arrived. The day after they called me to schedule delivery. What i found that really helped was drawing the arrows to the top of the boxes. I didnt extra tape my boxes but i did have good sturdy boxes from Amazon and Home Depot.I would use this service again. read more

A nightmare story: I was one of those people skeptical to the reviews right? - Webpage says it takes ten days to be transported. I ship my order in June. It took a month and the tracking system on the webpage does not work- it reflects very delayed info. PE: it can say you order is still in NY, but it has passed a week and is not really there, probably in Atlanta. -Costumer service told me misleading information several times because they did not knew were my boxes where. Some days they told me my stuff was in one state the next day they will say they could not find my order on the system. - One day I call to follow up on the lost suitcase and I was informed that they found it, it was altogether and they will deliver on Monday from 11-3 right? A guy was at my door half an hour later (a Friday) without my complete order (missing one). - The boxes were broken and wet, my clothes smelled like rotten. - I lost a suitcase and almost two months later they have not give me an answer. I Did a claim and they ask me to wait TWO MONTHS to perform an investigation. Literally send me a letter asking me to call them again in September! I shipped 8 boxes from DC to Los Angeles and I used the door to door 14-day service. The pickup went great, but then, without consulting me, I was billed almost double what I agreed to because some of the boxes weighed more than I had estimated, and 21 days later I still don't have my boxes. 7/8 boxes have been sitting in the final terminal just minutes away from my home for 12 days but because they seem to have lost the final box, they won't deliver them. Throughout, their customer service has been horrendous and condescending. The people who charged me double for under-estimating weight say they can't be held accountable for the 14-day estimate they gave. They keep referring me to GPX who is actually responsible for the courier service and the shipping service, who also aren't especially helpful. Nobody acts accountable for anything that goes on there. This is a horrible way to move. If you can go a month without seeing your stuff and don't mind if a box gets lost with no recourse then this is the service for you. read more

I apologize for such a long review, but with this method of shipping the more you know the better! I found the most helpful information on previous yelp reviews (not the company's website) so I thought I would share my tips as well. I used Busfrieghter because it was, by far, the cheapest option to get my things across country. I moved from Los Angeles, California to Gaithersburg, Maryland. I used the door to door service which ended up costing me $436. It's cheaper to drop your stuff off at the station, but I don't have a truck and it was a lot more convenient to have it picked up and delivered. I knew I was going to drive across country but I didn't want to use a trailer or uHaul. I also didn't have any furniture. I looked into using PODs, shipping through UPS and USPS, and uBox. I had 8 medium boxes and one large luggage (400 lbs) so the PODs and uBox option didn't make sense (much more expensive and I didn't have enough stuff to fill a pod). I think those are better options if you want to ship your stuff AND furniture. I was hesitant to use busfreighter, but there were good reviews so I decided to do it. My items were picked up on February 21st and delivered March 2 (10 days total). (But I was very active during the process which I think assisted in the short delivery time. See below) Here is my timeline: Day 0: I called busfreighter (214-227-9792) and asked some clarifying questions. I then went online and filled out the instant quote and ordering form. I scheduled pickup for the next day. Around 3 hours later I received an email with my GPX labels. I then printed out 7 copies. Box preparation: Like other reviews, I wanted to make sure my packages were properly prepared. I used ample amount of tape. I filled up my boxes 99-100%. I taped all the corners and at the end of it all I used 6 large roles of tape for 9 boxes. (The more the better!). I then taped 2 GPX labels directly on the box (on 2 sides). I then covered the box with clear stretch wrap. I then taped a GPX label on each side of the box (on top of the stretch wrap). I also added a neon orange label on 4 sides of the box saying "Box 1 of 9" "Box 2 of 9" so on and so forth. (See photo) Day 1: A person called to set up pick up of my boxes. He was super nice and let me know how far away he was. The pick up went smoothly. Day 5:I wanted to track my packages. I knew that the tracking number that busfreighter gave me wouldn't work on the GPX tracking page from reading a previous review. So I called greyhound package express customer service to get the actual tracking number (1-800-739-5020). Then, I put the number they gave me into the GPX tracking website and saw where my packages were (http://www.shipgreyhound.com/e/sitepages/trackapackage.aspx) Day 6. I saw that some of my packages had already arrived in Maryland! The tracking website is somewhat confusing, because I couldn't figure out if all my packages had arrived. Day 8. I was pretty sure all my packages arrived at the station. No one was calling me so I decided to call customer service to set up delivery (I don't know how long I would have waited if I hadn't called). They confirmed my packages had arrived. She set up delivery for the next day (March 1st) from 9am- 1 pm. Day 9. I wait from 9am-1pm and no one comes. I call customer service and they say there is no record of a scheduled delivery . They apologized and set up a delivery for the next day 9am- 1 pm. I asked for a confirmation number or some type of record that I scheduled a delivery. She said she couldn't right now, but would call back in 2 hours to provide it to me. If she didn't call in 2 hours she would call me in the morning. Day 10. No call. I was skeptical that I would get a delivery so I called around 10:30AM. The service agent said that a request had been put in for a delivery but that it was not confirmed. 30 min later they call me back to say that they have confirmed that I will be getting my delivery today before 1pm. At 12:35PM I hear the doorbell. My packages had arrived! (I was told I would be called 30 min before delivery, but I was just happy to have my packages). My packages arrived in good condition! I gave them 4 stars because I felt like I had to be very diligent to make sure everything went smoothly. Also, I feel like they should give you the proper tracking number from the beginning. Also, because of the delivery fiasco at the end (every time I had to call it took like 10-25 minutes). Like I said I thank the previous yelp reviews for being so informative. My husband and I used Busfreighter to move from NYC to Portland and we are thrilled. We shipped 11 boxes, door-to-door, for $550. After reading the reviews we did the following things which I think helped us have a positive experience. 1) Don't expect your boxes to all arrive in exactly 10 days. I think ours did, but we weren't waiting on them. 2) Duct tape the living heck out of all your boxes. I should say we spent $600 total because we probably spent $50 on duct tape. The guy who delivered them said they were the most in-shape boxes he had seen. 3) Label EVERY SIDE. We had the labels Busfreighter gave us on every side of every box, as well as a separate label that said "Lastname, Box X of X." The staff told us that made it easy to keep track of every box. 4) Be smart, don't ship priceless china this way. You get what you pay for. I would have gave one more star but one of my packages was broken. The major thing I didn't like was my packages were in the middle of a gas station store. I couldn't believe it. They didn't have a Greyhound station. People just waited outside. The original drop off was an actual station with a back room. After I received a notification that my packages were in GA, they stopped. I got a call from a guy saying that I had to pick up my packages today when they arrived in FL. I'm like wtf, nobody told me they were in FL. I had to hurry to get a Uhaul. Overall the price is much better than U pack(2k vs $300). I had 15 packages. But I don't advise anyone to use Busfreighter if you have something expensive to ship. This is good for things you can live without. It also will take about a month to get everything, so if you are pressed for time then this isn't the way to go. read more

Talk about a company that truly knows how to give you the run around: Busfreighter is simply a booking agent for other carriers such as Greyhound Package Express. They do nothing other than collect money after booking and that's about it. If any problems arise with the shipping or the carrier, Busfreighter takes no responsibility in even attempting to contact the carrier and offer a solution; you're just told to DIY and fix the issue yourself as a customer. In essence, Busfreighter is just a "middle-man" with no skills nor intention to help a customer when a problem arises. I think the motto there is: "Deflect Deflect Deflect",....to which I say "Avoid Avoid Avoid" at all costs. read more

Be aware that it is extremely difficult to request a refund from Busfreighter!! I paid extra $$ for two oversize boxes online when getting instant quote. After I dropped off the boxes, the measurements took by the person at the Greyhound terminal were shorter than I did, and I should have paid extra for just one box. I called 214-227-9792 to ask for refund. The person first said "no refund", I then explained to her about the measurements. She then quoted me a refund amount much less than what I paid for, and she said that I had to write an email to request for the refund. She was extremely rude and unhelpful. So lesson learned - if you're not totally sure about the oversize charges then pay less when you first place an order online. They made the refund process so difficult that I am not sure it worth my time doing it. read more

I was really nervous to use this service given the below reviews here and on other sites, but it was the best price for what we wanted. We are not good packers but we did shrink wrap all of our boxes as per the reviews we read. We had 21 boxes shipped door to door from NJ to CA . We had weighed our boxes in advance but had been off by about 20 pounds. Most of the boxes were clothing and pots/kitchen stuff. Customer service was good throughout and we were able to mostly follow our packages journey. There were definitely more stops and unloading/loading than I had expected but all 21 boxes arrived to our apt in CA at the 14 day mark. 18 arrived earlier and we had the option to have just the 18 delivered and pick up the last 3 on our own, but we decided to wait for it and it all worked out. Sure, some of the boxes were a bit beat up but thats to be expected. Nothing was broken. I would do it again, I would shrinkwrap and I wouldnt ship anything breakable/super valuable. read more

I knew this was going to be on the bottom of a greyhound bus so therefore was going to take awhile, and it did. But it was cheap and for things that I didn't need right away was the best option. I have recommended this service to friends saying expect it to take forever and be a little confusing but if you don't need those unbreakables and nonvaluables for awhile then use this service to not have to pay for a uhaul for things that you could just ship. Be patient with the process the 25 boxes I shipped took like 6 weeks to finally arrive but they weren't things I needed right away and busfreighter actually was very helpful for me in the moving process. I am very displeased with the service provided by Busfreighter/Greyhound. Eight of my nine boxes arrived a full 6 business days, or a week and a half, later than the 7-10 business days promised by Busfreighter, and I had to call Greyhound twice to get an update. When I reached out to Busfreighter for help and to inform them that my tracking number was not working in the system, they directed me to talk to Greyhound. Two of the boxes were busted open, and one box has still not arrived--over ONE MONTH later than it was supposed to. I have called Greyhound FOUR additional times trying to locate my box--sometimes waiting on hold for over an hour. I am constantly given different information about where my box actually is (Memphis? Los Angeles?) and have been told twice that the box would arrive at a specific date, to find that it did not. I would NOT recommend shipping with Busfreighter. Errors happen, but customer service is supposed to make up for it. I have received no support from Busfreighter, and no compensation for the lack of delivery. read more

After a month, I've received three of them. The other seven are lost to the wind and they say there's nothing they can do about it. No one at GreyHound has answered any of my calls or responded to my multiple emails. While the team at BusFreighter has been responsive they're absolutely clueless and have no way to get in contact with GreyHound beyond a 1-800 number that doesn't work. I was definitely nervous because majority of the other reviews were so bad but everything went well for my experience. I sent 9 plastic bins from Orlando to San Diego and they arrived in 8 days. The other reviews said tracking was really unreliable so I put an airtag in each box, but airtags + bus freighter was still the cheapest option. They called me within a day of all the boxes arriving at the San Diego station. Boxes were a bit beat up but I expected that and nothing was broken. I would recommend putting the label on all sides and using a durable box, not cardboard. The 1 bind I, being stupid, had some valuable collectables in came up missing which included a baseball card that was valued at over 900$ and a few autographed photos that I've been told would be about 1500$. There are many bad reviews here, so I honestly felt a bit uncomfortable when I shipped my packages using Busfreighter (i.e., Greyhound Package Express, GPX). I used this service because it was cheap--I had 5 packages totally 140 lb, and it cost me only $160 to ship from Boston to Denver. It turned out that all my items, including 2 boxes of fragile kitchen plates, were delivered to Denver in excellent conditions. It did take a little longer for the packages to arrive: 14 days rather than 10 days advertised in the website, but I had nothing to complain since the price of shipping was so low. I learned a few things that might make the whole process easier. 1. To track the package, you need the "waybill" number. You can get that number from Busfreighter customer service. The GPX tracking system only logs items when they are at the origination and destination stations, so don't freak out if you find that your items are still in the origination station several days after shipping. 2. Don't try to call Greyhound Package Express directly. Their customer service SUCKS. You're not going to be connected to anyone helpful. You'll be better off, and feel much happier, to just give it sometime for things to work out. 3. Use google to find out how to properly pack boxes. Don't expect that the drivers would be nice to your packages when the price is so low. I for sure will use this service again in the future if I need cheap, time-insensitive long-distance shipping. read more

They said they would call me right back. No call was placed. It's now 5:12 PM, I called and they claim the driver is finishing dropping off packages but will be there soon. After reading reviews and seeing some of the photos, I was scared. but ended up giving it a try due to affordable price. All the boxes arrived in one piece within 6 days (from NY to FL). Key take away is SECURE Packaging. Do not leave any space empty inside the box, tape the corners, wrap it securely, numbering is a plus (so they know all the boxes are going to the same direction. This was a chaotic moving experience, to say the least. There were some positives, which I'll get to, but overall if you can afford a higher-end freight company, I'd suggest going with that. I scheduled an afternoon pickup at my apt in Queens on Sep 30th. The guy, who was friendly, showed up at 9:30am, before I was finished packing. I scrambled to wrap up and he took my 11 boxes. Busfreighter said it would take up to 14 days to arrive at the final destination in LA. I'd chosen the "pick up at station" option. They ended up losing 7 of my 11 boxes. The shipment tracking suddenly listed 20 boxes instead of 11, which no one could explain. I was able to pick up the 4 boxes at their final destination in LA about 3 weeks after they shipped. The remaining 7 boxes were gone. I called and emailed Greyhound and Busfreighter customer service, but it was only after I complained publicly on Twitter that they finally responded. Almost exactly a month after I shipped the boxes, they found them in LA, but not at the final Greyhound station. After some back and forth Busfreighter said they'd drop off the boxes at our apt at no extra charge, which was nice. The cardboard boxes were delivered at 9:30pm by a guy in a van. They were in rough shape. All of my coffee mugs, a couple mixing bowls, and some misc. cookware was destroyed (packed tightly in bubble wrap). One box disintegrated when I picked it up, spilling the contents all over the driveway (fortunately it was just books and DVDs). The driver tried to deliver a box that wasn't even mine, and if we hadn't noticed, we would've gotten someone else's stuff. So, the positives: It was affordable. About $565 to ship 11 boxes across the country. My fiancee also used Busfreighter, and her stuff arrived within 14 days. Her boxes were pretty beat up too, but she had less broken stuff. They delivered my boxes to my door, even though I hadn't paid for that option. The negatives: Broke a couple hundred dollars worth of stuff. Poor communication. We had to do 2 shipments of 10 boxes when moving cross country. At first all the negative reviews scared me, in the end I'm so glad that I proceeded anyway! All our boxes arrived faster than expected and the condition was just fine. To quote the busfreighter employee I spoke with "as long as you pack using common sense like an adult, your stuff will be fine" and it was! Don't know if I'd use for fine china or super delicate items but for clothes and household items it worked out great for us. Saved hundreds of dollars using this service. I had read the reviews and was nearly scared off by the negative ones, but the difference between the 1 and 5 star reviews seemed to be how well the boxes were packed and shrink wrapped. I moved from Minneapolis to Seattle and had zero issue. I thoroughly labeled and shrink wrapped all 6 boxes. The cost was the cheapest quote I found. They arrived to the Seattle greyhound station 3 days earlier than the estimated delivery and then I got a call to schedule the delivery to my place. I got my stuff moved from Dallas to Buffalo. I had 16 packages. The estimated time was 7-10 business days but I recieved my packages in less than 4 days. The packaging didn't come off. So to start off, I was led to believe something which ended to be was false through them, and once I called to correct the error I was greeted with, "You did this wrong, we never said to do that"... So I acknowledged that I was wrong, and then responded in a calm manner, "Ok, so what can I do to correct this?" and instead of giving me a solution they just kept repeating they never said "this or that". I could have cared less at this point, I just needed a solution and they never properly gave me one On top of the terrible customer service, I was also led to believe through their website that shipping was 5-7 days, as advertised. However, I later found out through greyhound that it was 7-14 days. Im on day 20 and still have yet to receive my my shipment. I shipped 11 boxes on June 28th, i called several times over that period to be told that they HAD NO TRACKING and i had to just wait for things to arrive cross country from NY to seattle. the price is attractive but they should not be running a shipping service if they can't track what they're sending. read more

Gladly take your money, loose your item talking a car hood not little. shipping from Vegas to LA.. can take your money can't give back it greyhound's fault.. ok , think it both there fault.. 3 months to get there, then if so door to door , find item months later and say if don't schedule delivery time charge storage fee.. dont do it find another way to ship. read more
