When you order chicken at Bush's expect to receive freshly fried, big juicy pieces of chicken that are probably twice the size of what other competitors serve their customers. Their sides can be hit or miss but I enjoy the crinkle-cut fries, rolls and that oh-so-good white sauce gravy. Like the other reviews mention, don't waste your time on their mac and cheese :-( And if you love sweet tea ... baby it's about as sweet and southern as Paula Deen sipping a mint julep on her front porch after eating a Thanksgiving spread with Jamie and Bobby. Bush's chicken (and chicken strips) are quite tasty, especially with gravy or their in-house seasoning (similar to Popeye's Cajun Sparkle). The breading is tasty and the sides (especially the fried okra) are good as well (except the mac&cheese...that is the only thing I've had there that is complete garbage). If you are a sweet tea fan, be sure to get a glass from Bush's. If you've been to one Bush's Chicken, you've been to them all. Everything is fried and affordable. I always get the chicken strips with rolls and fries. Nothing spectacular but it's cheap and good. I throw some hot sauce on to kick things up. I go to this location because it is near work. But, more importantly, they are always welcoming and friendly to me. That is a rarity in a fast food joint. Horrible service @ Kitty Hawk Loc. Today's visit - out of ketchup. Received my tenders meal with no roll, Luckily I checked my box bc their service in consistently inconsistent . So i tell the server & he says, "Oh it because we're out of rolls". Are you kidding me? So then he says it's going to be a 15 min wait... After waiting he then says oh by the way it's a 40 minute wait! Insane... I asked for a refund & drove to Converse loc. Great, speedy service with fresh food! I can't believe we had never tried Bush's chicken before now. We recently moved to Converse and we have already been three times. I guess we are making up for lost time. The chicken tenders are so good and TENDER. The mashed potatoes and gravy are a perfect dip for those tenders. The rolls are a big hit with the family as well. I have always loved bush's chicken/ chicken express (same recipes), but this location has horrible customer service. I don't think they've ever gotten an order right on the first try. Today they refused an online coupon that was specifically for their location because they didn't know about it. This is the last straw. We usually get the kids some dinner there about twice a week, but we will find someone else to give our money to. edit: much to my chagrin, the kids have been bugging us for bush's chicken again. Their fried chicken strips are YUM YUM :) This place is next to Bill Millers and even though BM is one on my fav eateries when it comes to fried chicken, strips and rolls, I think Bush's takes the cake when it comes to these items. Always FRESH, and great flavor, I am a condiment MUST and these strips don't even need ketchup! Fries are not the greatest, so I am not a fan, but the main dish makes it worth it. I visit my Parents, who live in Converse Tx, from time to time. I have been to this location twice and both times was disappointed with service and quality. It's obvious this store has bad management and staff are not being trained properly. We went to the second lane in the drive thru. The young man waiting on cars looked at us, but did not acknowledge us. He served the 2 cars in the 1st lane, then we assumed he would wait on us, but no, he waited on another car that had just pulled up in the 1st lane AFTER WE HAD ARRIVED. He did glare at us, but never said a word. It was like we were inconveniencing him. Does he not realize that by us spending our money there is what pays employees? No wait, I forgot he's entitled to it. After more than 10 minutes of waiting and getting the stink eye from this kid, I decided to just park and go inside. When I gave my order, I explained to the young lady waiting on me, that we had been waiting in the drive through for over 10 minutes and no one even acknowledged us. She stated that they were short handed. I can understand that, but you tell the customer that you will be right with them, not glare at them. The young man came inside and the young lady, who I assume was an Asst Manager or Team Lead, spoke to him. He replied loudly, with "too bad they can come in like she did (pointing to me)". I'm like "Hello, I'm standing right here, you know." What a little jerk. Poor management, poor service!! Your food is definitely NOT good enough to put up with that. However; the Bush's store where I live Cedar Park, Tx is excellent!! The Converse, Tx store will not get any more of my money and they need to take some training from Chick Fil A!! I love this place so much even I don't understand it. Extra large fried chicken makes Church's look like they are serving quail in comparing. Flavorful unique stands on it's own. Well let me start by saying it was the day before Thanksgiving so many people where out buying dinner so the place was semi busy. Everyone seemed friendly. I ordered a 20 piece meal i found a coupon for. I then ordered an extra side of okra. It was about a ten minute wait. They also said they were out of wings and asked what i would want to sub for them. They gave me breasts in place which i thought was more than fair. I got my order and before leaving i asked if they remembered my okra and she said yes. Upon arriving home i noticed i didnt get my frys. I went all the way back and they gave me the frys. Taste wise this is the first time i have been here so i would say the chicken was good and moist. The crust lacked a bit of flavor but i did notice seasoning on each table when i was waiting. If you get skipped better lay on the horn because you will be passed by everyone. I got sick after eating there. Bathrooms were dirty. I saw a manager pick a piece of chicken off of the floor and throw it away but she didn't wash her hands. She kept on serving chicken. Church's down the street is much better and they are much cleaner. The guy spilled something all over the floor so he was mopping. The girl had 8 boxes lined up. She was pulling chicken, tossing fries, and packing food. The 7 or so ppl waiting for their food watched the cashier choke and COUGH up all over the fried chicken breasts and thighs. Girl to guy: At least I haven't gotten anyone pregnant lately. My ears perked up. Yes, I'm nosy. Girl to guy: At least I haven't gotten 4 DIFFERENT girls pregnant in the past 4 YEARS!!! Ohhhhh wowwww.... That was the highlight of my visit. No wait, scratch that. Fries were cold and they must have sat there for a long time because one could taste the stale grease.
