This place is super cute and the food is pretty good as well. However the staff is terrible... Been here a few times getting the barista the benefit of the doubt. Thought that maybe they were just having a bad day. Unfortunately their servers stand the same. The barista is very short with the customers and has a continues attitude. Maybe they are not a morning person, not sure. But the last thing I need is someone with an attitude before getting my first cup of Joe. A few days ago I ordered an American which is my normal drink. When I grab it the lid came off and I burned my hand with it. The barista didn't seem to care if I was okay... I tried to locate the napkins or rag to clean it up. And when I asked they said"did you look behind you" .. I almost just left right then. But decided to just clean up what I could. I want to rate this place a 5, for the last year since I moved around the corner, I would have but there is something to say about the service that is just killing me. It's not the snooty French service where you expect the waiters to look down on you for overeating (that I actually don't mind because it sticks to brand and character) --- it's just indifferent at best. The food is a 4 The coffee is a 5 The quaint decor is a 5 But ever since Pepe, the household barista left, this place went from one of those "everyone knows your name" neighborhood joints to a take a "ticket and we'll call your number if we feel like it" places. I've walked in to staff having headphones on, barely speaking to you, and never once has anyone tried to say anything beyond "your cappuccino is 3.75." The worst offense was the other day was when i got home to having slushy expired arugula and my salad was completely ruined. Their food is always pretty on point and things happen. But the customer service was awful when I got there the next day and told a staff member - they did nothing to alleviate my concern. It's sad, but the loss of a great employee can really leave a hole in a place. For someone who looked forward to my quick morning chats complimented with coffee and breakfast - I just don't have the same desire to come here every morning unless I'm really feening for an espresso hit. read more

The cookies I had (jellied fruit in the middle) were just ok, so 3 stars for that, but the vegetable quiche was delicious and worthy of 5 stars. It was so flavorful with the perfect amount of cheese and the velvety buttery crust is just heavenly omgoodness! Everything is appropriately priced for the quality and quantity (I got 2 generous servings from my slice of quiche). Although the cookies, in my opinion, weren't worth it at 75 cents a pop. It is however worth a return trip for that quiche alone, and I can't wait to try the lox sandwich. Happy I found this place. read more

So consistently disappointing in service, coffee, and quality of food preparation. I love the idea of a French bakery, but this place underwhelms in terms of it's cuisine staples like bread, croissants, and espresso. I don't know why I've kept coming back (after a month, i forget how bad my last experience was). I've heard some other reviewer describe it like an abusive relationship. The egg dishes are unseasoned, boring (every time, i salt and pepper the dish myself)... Lattes / caps are just awful... Clearly the staff here isnt given much training or management. Also, stale croissants on Saturdays? What? They have a MASSIVE kitchen in the back, so theres really no excuse for serving Thursdays bread on the weekend. I've lived around the corner from Bushwick Bakery for over 2 years now, and probably come here 4 or 5 times per week. I am simple when it comes to coffee. I like the regular old iced coffee, none of this cold brew or espresso stuff. Their iced coffee is exactly what I like. It never tastes old or burnt like some of the places that just refrigerate old hot coffee, and 100% of the time I love it. Now let's talk about the food stuffs. I love, love, love the quiche. My favorites are the bacon/potato/leek and broccoli/cheddar. The filling is flavorful and the crust is oh so flaky. Yum. As far as the pastries go, they're all good because...pastry. But the standout in my mind is the cheese danish. I love it because the pastry is flaky with a sticky glaze, and the cheese filling is just barely sweet. I usually find cheese danishes to be overly sweet and too rich and this one is the opposite. It's so satisfying with the beginning of the bite almost savory and the end leaving you with a sweetness. Try it, try it, I say! The only non amazing thing I have ever experienced here is the breakfast sandwiches. The eggs are cooked in the microwave (which is fine for me at home, but if I'm paying for a sandwich I would prefer them cooked on the griddle) and the bacon is really thin, and kind of fake feeling (like MacDonald's bacon). That being said, the thin bacon and microwaved eggs are sandwiched between the most delicious, buttery, flaky croissant, so it's not all bad. Keep in mind as well that the cashier is not only the barista, but they have to make all the sandwiches to order, so if the group in front of you all orders a bacon/egg/cheese croissant sandwich, expect to wait a while to even place your order. Overall, Bushwick Bakery is my favorite little neighborhood spot for coffee and breakfast. Check it out! read more

I would encourage management to provide customer service training for her. Customers are being intentional about supporting local businesses during this time. People and the product. People, nice and kind. Just sweet people. They are local but they know how to cater to hipsters with plain good stuff that surpasses any deli by a landslide. The Product. I bought this meat pie which was totally awesome. Well filled with soft meat. The dough perfect not too soft not falling apart. Their coffee was great! The apple danish thingie was great too! Great service every time I go in. The staff is very friendly! If they see your pup outside, they always make sure you don't leave empty handed with treats for the dogs. I'm a big fan of their coffee - very smooth and packs a punch of caffeine. Great prices and you cannot beat $1 Grumpy Hour before work in the mornings. I can't believe I have lived two blocks away from this place for two years and never gone in. Brought to you by the fine folks of Mominette. It's a super cute little french bakery. Everything looks great and it smells fantastic in there. Sadly, there are only a few seats. Its a great option for a quick reasonably priced sandwich. I got the croque monsieur. Truthfully, it wasn't the best I've ever had. They put this cheesy 'paste' on it, which I wasn't expecting and couldn't identify at first. I wasn't a huge fan of that, but I could see where some people would love it. But it was freshly made and decent. I'll try something else next time, or some pastry. My favorite thing about Bushwick Bakery (aside from the Ham-Chee croissant) has to be watching people get butt-hurt about not being treated like a noble while ordering food. It's great. You know what else is great? The french-bread pizza and morning coffee special (8-9 am). But the real treat is seeing pretentious 20-something's get hit with the realization that people working in the service industry aren't automatically programmed to bow down and desperately seek their approval. Let me just say, it doesn't seem to go down well, unlike the Pot pies! Thoughts of Xerxes being grazed by Leonidas's spear came to mind as I watched, just yesterday, this flock-of-seagulls looking young man squirm and pant as he was denied the constant attention he believed he was owed... Not a god after all. Speaking of holy things, try cracking into one of their wheat loaves with some olive oil... Stopped in yesterday just for a cup of coffee. The place is very quaint. Very minimal seating a nice sized menu of choices. I tried a bacon, eggs and Swiss cheese croissant. I caught a glimpse of the eggs coming out of some sort of packaging but they looked very fluffy. It ended up being a very delicious breakfast sandwich the coffee went very well with it. The inside of the bakery is charming, clean and inviting. The staff are great! They are Very friendly and nice. The outdoor furniture is a nightmare! Rusty old unstable tables with rusty uncomfortable chairs! I'm afraid to even sit on them cause they are so wobbly and have metal sticking out. The tables outside are so bad you can't even place your drink on them cause you'll wind up spilling the drink cause of the uneven cutouts in the tables. They need to get with the times and update the seating! No one likes to sit on rusty furniture! Also the benches outside the cafe are broken and missing wooden slates. You can't even sit in them! The baguettes are more Italian-bread style than I prefer, though: not quite as chewy as they should be, in my non-French-nor-trained-in-baking-but-big-fan-(connoisseur?)-of-baguettes opinion. Came to this place for the weekend with family for some grub , lovely place great coffee and the bake goods are Delicious! Free samples are always awesome ! baked goods were amazing the French look of the place really looked good my dog even got free dog treats. The ladies behind the counter worked fast and we're very nice . Sad to say the world we live in filled with prevents and racists also are among us over hear two middle aged white males talking about the young ladies very inappropriately sitting across from my family table and taking pictures. Was so disgusted after eating my family and I left but before leaving my dad was sure to tip the ladies for the great service . I've tried their quiche (no salt), pecan pie (very eggy) and their chocolate chip cookie (dry, eggy, too sweet). Everything lacks seasoning. Coffee and tea's fine. Although I like their baked goods, I have never had a good experience buying food or drinks here. First off this is a cash only business that does not have an ATM in their store. So prepare for that. Edit, just read another review that it's a 10 minimum. But still that's way too high for a coffee and pastry when in a rush. The first time I came in I ordered two croissants, two lattes, and it came to $16 dollars. I insisted to the cashier the math was incorrect and she must have hit too many drinks or croissants. After bringing another cashier in, she agreed that 16 was too high and they gave me $4 back. Other incidents include getting the wrong drinks made and so on. I wish this place had friendlier more capable staff. read more

It tasted like it was there for 3 days, really impossible to eat so I asked for a fresh one and I received same Shit. I threw it. cute spot on the corner for sure - so you'll be tempted. but honestly - the first awkward thing was when i asked for a macchiato (which is on the menu) the girl working asked me something along the lines of "is that the one with chocolate, we don't have chocolate right now" after a couple seconds of looking confused, and when i was about to explain what it is - the other girl working says to her, "no, thats the mocha" -- "ooh right" so, i ended up with something like a confused cappuccino. who knows. i didn't like being that frustrated customer.... but, i mean... why be a barista if you don't take the time to know what your cafe is serving? all the pastries look amazing ... i tried an empanada, frittata, and a chocolate croissant .. but... all three needed some more love. the croissant was filled with small bits of chocolate that hadn't melted inside of it. and the two former items had such little flavor i just picked at them. i think the place has good intentions - but theres a lot left to be desired. read more

They make by far the best lentil soup in Bushwick. The bakery makes really good baguettes as well. There are a wide variety of lunch options ranging from sandwiches to salads and the coffee is pretty good. Not crazy about their pastries but I'll keep going as long as there's lentil soup! read more

They're developing, some stuff is missing for sure. The four stars is based on my two experiences getting pastries to go. The mini linzer cookies I got were awesome. Buttery shortbread with a nice snap and perfectly portioned with jam. The next time I got a cinnamon roll and damn, just damn. It's not some sloppy Cinnabon thing- it seems to be made with croissant dough and manages to be flaky, crunchy, sticky and gooey all in the same bite. They're not playing around with that roll, it's a contender. So yeah, if you want to pick up a special treat for someone, the selection of pastries is great and they seem to know what they are doing with them. read more
