I have been coming here ever since I was little. At this present day, I find it kind of sad when you have Pokémon and card stuff sold in a bakery but hey lol. The breads are great and I have no complaint about them at all. You used to see these breads sold in various supermarkets in the area too, back in the day. There is one type of bread I highly recommend, it's a braided sesame seed bread. It goes great with coffee or hot chocolate. Sometimes I get their rolls which are 75 cents a roll. They used to sell lots of cookies back in the day, it looks like they don't have much of a variety. Otherwise the place is great. read more

Lived here for around 3 months and had yet to find a solid breakfast spot. I heard Stellas had small food menu in addition to the pastry's so gave it a shot and o my goodness was this sandwich amazing. Easily best BEC in East Williamsburg and maybe best I've ever had. OMG, my search for cuban bread in this concrete jungle has ended, and how ironic that the one place that has proper cuban bread is right under my nose and just around the corner. I saw a sign that read cuban sandwich right outside of this little bakery which is next door to where i drop off my laundry...i figured cuban sandwich? lets see if they have cuban bread, sure enough they sell it! slightly different than its Miami counterpart, the loafs are just a little smaller...they also make an even smaller cuban roll which is what i asked for when they prepared my tuna melt. i love tuna, but when the tuna is prepared the way you like it (plain with mayo) melted provolone cheese on a hearty cuban bread? the best $4 bucks i've spent since living in NYC. Stella Di Sicilia Bakery is an amazing bakery. Their fresh coffee is many times cheaper and larger than neighboring competitors, and their sandwiches are stacked generously with meat and toppings. The pastry products that this bakery offers are of superior quality. My personal favorite, the pan de bono (cheese bread), is especially wonderful in the morning, when it's still hot out of the oven. You also have to try the guava turnovers. This bakery makes better bread and pastries, and sells cheaper coffee, than anything in the area. read more

Stella Bakery is proof that it is the bread that makes an ordinary sandwich and amazing experience. Their cuban sandwich is one of the best I've ever had - the pork was tangy and juicy and it was one a real hearty cuban roll bread. The multi-grain bread is also very good too. Its loaded with seeds and grains and its not sweetened like most multi-grain breads at other bakeries. I haven't tried any of their desserts or pastries, but they all look amazing. Next time I have a sweet touch, Stella's will be my go-to spot. read more

Stella Bakery has rekindled my love for bakeries. This place is a must to go in the neighborhood. I can't believe all my life I haven't not been to this place until recently. Convenient for a breakfast-to-go when I need to take the L train. Their cheesebread aka Pan de bono is AMAZING that people wait for it to come out the oven in the mornings. I tried a piece of apple pie that I usually don't eat and LOVED it. I'd love to try their tiramisu next time. They also have sandwiches for lunch. Stella Di Sicilia has been in East Williamsburg for years and years. At some point in one of the many times the neighborhood transformed, the keys got passed from the OG owners (probably italian) to the guy who owns it now (likely hispanic). The quality has not suffered one bit. This nice, old school, truly "brooklyn style" bakery wakes up before you do to bake the freshest kaiser rolls and real bread in a neighborhood that NEEDS it. As everyone says the cuban sandwich here is a classic and the breakfast sandwiches beat the corner deli's for sure. My girlfiend is addicted to the 75 cent chocolate chip cookies. Also noteworthy are the cheese turnovers - with perfect puff pastry and a generous amount of filling - you cant go wrong. LAST THING: The coffee is good. It's totally fresh, and a good medium blend. I make note of this because I always see new arivees to the neighborhood going into an new place next door to get coffee in an obnoxiously bright green cup. I wont name names. Anyway it seems ridiculous to turn your back on an old school business like Stella Bakery. Also, let's hope they get a new sign. So, I'm going to give this place 5 stars. I have had the cuban sandwich, multiple cookies, loaves of bread, and a turkey sandwich. Mark my words...This is the BEST cuban sandwich I have ever had. It may not be super traditional, but for $5.50, it's a huge sammie! The pork was moist and tender and they are generous with cheese. Which is great, I mean who hates cheese?! Their bread is so fresh, I like to buy a loaf of Italian bread and then I come home and make fresh, from scratch, tomato sauce. (yeah, you know you want to come to my apartment for dinner) The cookies are always good, but definitely get the chocolate chip or the white chocolate macadamia nut. They are $8 a pound though, so if you really want a dozen for a gathering or something be aware, you might pay a lot. The turkey sandwich. Bread-excellent, veggies-fresh, 1/2 a pound of provolone cheese-AW, HELL YEAH. But the turkey was like the turkey you get from the clear plastic containers at the grocery store. Nothing to write home about. I could go to the bodega down the street and get fresh sliced boars head turkey. BUT, I don't care I love stella di sicilia. It's also $4.50. I don't even care about the mediocre turkey because the bread, toppings, and cheese trumps any negatives. Next up, Breakfast sandwiches. But I'll probably stick with the cuban. read more

I stop by this place on the way to the train sometimes to pick up a $1 cappuccino and pandebono. Just the fact that I can get breakfast for $2 in hipster Brooklyn is great. The bread isn't the best. I've had some amazing pandebono in NJ, which this one doesn't compare to; it's a bit too powdery and messy. And the cappuccino is from a machine. But...it's decent, fast and about 1/3 of what you'll spend next door at CUP. So, when you're trying to save some cash for the week and in a rush, it does the trick.
