I've been going there for 35 years. My sons, now in their 30s, had their first haircut there in the 1970s. And my grandson had his first there in December. Easy to find on Main Street, Glen Ellyn, with plenty of parking nearby. Atmosphere is friendly and sports/guy-oriented, but not uncomfortable for moms with little ones. The barbers are skilled, fast and chatty if you prefer or not if you just want to chill. Price is reasonable. Way less than many "salons.". Pretty good old school barber shop in downtown Glen Ellyn. I remember coming here once as a kid. As an adult, I was in the area for longer than expected and needed a cut. I went in on a Wednesday afternoon, but there was a 30 minute wait. Not being too strict on time, I just said I would come back at 10;30am the next day, and it was written down in the book. The next morning at 10:30, I had to wait about 10 minutes. No big deal. The barber, whose name I unfortunately forget, was very friendly, personable, and definitely liked to chat. It was nice. The haircut was pretty good. There were a few stray long hairs afterwards, but nothing too bad. Price was $16. Not sure if cards are allowed? I would return. read more

I've been a customer of The Busy Bee since 1998, first learning about this shop when I was asked to walk my nephews into town for their haircut appointments. These guys are excellent at wrangling squirming and reluctant kids. As for how they handle the adults: they ask and listen carefully, do a great job at giving you the cut you want, and offer lots of good conversation in the process. And their prices are extremely reasonable, too. They do their best to squeeze in walk-ins, but you should call ahead for an appointment. A public parking lot is right across the street. read more

I love talking local high school sports with the guys, who know all the dirt of what is going on with the teams. You will even see these guys at a Glenbard West game. Great first impression! Walked in on a Saturday with a book, prepared to wait as long as necessary. Was greeted when I entered and asked if I had called. Joe finished with his client and informed me that they work mostly by appointment but he could take care of me right then. (I wondered why there wasn't more of a crowd ). I didn't know for sure if this shop was still opened. My grandfather owned this shop probably in the 50's 60's. I remember going there when we visited. He always had a jar of Bazooka Bubble gum - which he shared with us. He also gave each of his grand children a silver dollar fas we left. read more
