In town for the holiday and settled on this spot for breakfast. A quant diner in the heart of Cullman in the old sears building. We were allowed to sit wherever and the server was over in minimal time to take our drink order. We placed the food order soon after and had our meal in less than 15 minutes. I have the two egg (over medium) breakfast with sausage and biscuit and gravy. The eggs were cooked as ordered, the biscuit and gravy were delicious. The sausage was a little overcooked, my only complaint. The server was nice and accommodating and the diner is nice. This is a spot I would frequent if I lived locally. Do yourself a favor and give it a try yourself.

Nice place! Great service and the is really good. Very reasonably priced and they have a garden omelette that looked really good that my dad got. Chock full of . Can get busy but worth the wait! Grits are really good, will need but I prefer it that way where I season my own. You can't take salt out!

Hands down, I just tasted the absolute worst burger I've ever had in my life. We stopped by this small, diner type local restaurant because their menu online featured German food, but after we sat down we were told they "can't get anyone to work nights," so they took the German food off the menu. We didn't have time to go somewhere else so we just stayed. When we walked in, I stood at the counter and wasn't acknowledged at all. A worker saw me come in, continued talking to a patron, then rang up a couple customers who approached the counter after me. Finally asked her if we were supposed to sit or order at the counter and she said "oops you can sit down, sorry," and gestures to some booths. The waitress was friendly and when I attempted to order the burger she explained it was a dough burger, which apparently had dough and flour added to the meat. "You'll either like it, or you won't!" I was apprehensive but said I'd try it. Upon receiving the square bread patty on a bun with traditional burger condiments, a single bland, flavorless bite told me the meat to flour ratio was pretty off balance. I broke the "patty" open and looked at it, and if it was more than 5% meat, I'll eat my hat. (And my hat would probably taste better.) We also ordered fried green tomatoes and fried pickles, and they tasted basically the same as the "burger." Very little flavor. My husband had a salad and enjoyed it. When the waitress saw I didn't eat the burger, she removed it from the bill, no questions asked. Almost like she had done it many times before. Drive a little further, friends, and get some real food.

This restaurant is across the street from the fairly popular Francesco's Italian restaurant. Having been there before, I didn't have any troubles locating this place. The parking lot is a little rugged in spots but at least there's plenty of space. The inside is a little sparse but there's ample seating and some kind of cool drawings hanging on the walls. A portrait of who I can only assume to be Minnie Lee is near the entrance. Food is served cafeteria style by some very nice people. Seriously, the service was so warm and sweet. We felt very welcomed there. We both decided on fried chicken for lunch. My mom got the last breast from the batch so I wound up with a thigh, which isn't my favorite piece but I still like it okay. You can have more than two sides if you wish, but we didn't. I chose yams and fried potatoes as mine, while my mom got yams and cabbage. Note that their cabbage is cooked with sausage. For bread, they offered standard cornbread muffins or hot water cornbread, which the friendly staff recommended (good choice!). We both opted for sweet tea to drink. I'm not sure of the price because of course my mom snuck in and paid for both of our meals before I could notice! Lol. We found a clean booth and dug in quickly. Overall, the food was pretty good! This isn't necessarily a new favorite soul food place for me, but I'd definitely come back. The best item was honestly the cabbage! My mom let me taste a bite. So flavorful and perfect texture. This is real, southern-style cabbage (which is to say, probably not great for you...but quite tasty!). The hot water cornbread was also really good. It's different than the hot water cornbread I've had in the past; this version was very crispy on the outside with super soft, almost gooey, corny inside. It was yummy. The yams were also solid! Not the best I've ever had (flavor kind of one-note), but they were sweet and soft. The fried potatoes and fried chicken were both just okay. The fried potatoes weren't super hot or crispy, but the added flavor from the onions was nice. The fried chicken's breading was crispy and flavorful enough, but the meat, even on the thigh, was a bit dry. Neither were bad, but if I return in the future, I'd probably try something else first. We were too full for dessert, but they had pecan pie and banana pudding on display. Overall, lovely service and tasty food make this a solid option in the area.

Still got it with ice! Asked about which is better, the corn muffin or roll, and the response was, "Well corn muffin when it's not burnt. I mean honestly, why would you criticize the food you are serving by saying something to scare the customer away from a selection like that? The ambiance was very simple, not much for decor, it is a small town cafe that used to be called Grumpy's, they have 9 tables, and a wait staff that serves carry out, dine in and drive thru customers, and shared tips. Honestly one of the worst experiences for food taste, and the whole experience. We were told to take a seat, weren't given menus until a few minutes after we sat down and the table was littered with trash and debris, which was cleaned off as we were at the table. They had a big line of cars around the building for the drive thru, and all the other tables inside were full. The food presentation was that of grilling in the back yard. But, you need to work on seasoning the beef, the fries, and the meatloaf. I don't know how this place was so busy! Maybe people don't know how to use spices to flavor foods these days. I mean, a small investment in spices and people that know how to use them would make the world of difference. Reminds me of JJ's. Not good at all! If I could give no stars I would.
