Get you some BBQ ! And a Twinkie! They have finally finished the construction so no problems. Exit is nice and great entrance to Butchers. If you haven't been go before Spring, when lines will be really long. We went on Sunday after 1 and just short line, so we lucked out. Ordered Ribs, Brisket and Jalapeno cheese. Food always great, $$$...yes. Service, super nice. Full bar to enjoy. Even got news of a small antique shop opening in parking lot and talk of Hamburgers in Luther ! They amaze me how much they have grown.

    Platter of so many options!

The butcher stand has a robust history starting out as a small food truck sized stand and expanding to a sit down restaurant with a gift shop. You have to arrive early because they get a line and sell out quickly. My favorite was the burnt ends (fatty brisket, no sauce) and the Mac and cheese. We got the platter to try a bit of everything including sausage, chicken, turkey, and pulled pork. The sauces and sweet tea are fire, of course. They have limited hours, so get here early and prepare to feast!

I truly did not think the food was worth the wait in line. We waited for about 2 hours and nothing really stood out to me except for the brisket.

It lives up to the hype. It's just classic no frills bbq of the highest quality. Sure it's a drive, sure it's a line, sure they run out of certain food within a couple hours but it's WORTH IT. We got there at 9 but truth be told most people didn't start rollin in until 10 to wait in line. They don't open until 11. We got a double of the meat locker to feed us and we had left overs. I mean look at that meat spread. Everything was delicious but the ribs were especially good!

We drove out here on Labor Day. It did not dawn on me to check as see if they were open. I just assumed but they are only open Fri-Sun and closed the rest of the week. Butchers is a BBQ staple and the owners have been featured on of the top bbq competition shows. Looks like a huge place with online ordering pickup on one end and the main building on the other. There was a huge fenced in area tht would be outdoor seating. Route 66 is under heavy construction and the signs say road closed but you can still get to the restaurant. The road is closed just after tht but pay attn as it is a little tricky.

These boys can bbq. My favorite is the turkey and burnt ends. The Mac a cheese and corn is a staple of the sides I choose. You honestly cannot go wrong. Service is wonderful and so is all the interior improvements made over the years.

Half slab and smoked sausage link

Every so often you have a meal where it truly feels like a privilege to have eaten it. This is one of those times. Having heard about this place over the years I've been meaning to try it, but since they're only open three days a week it made it a little more challenging. Since I had the day off on a Friday, I decided to drive out to Wellston to check it out and I'm so happy I did. It was quite the experience and definitely worth the drive. I had a half slab of ribs as well as a smoked sausage link. The sausage was excellent, but what really made the meal was their ribs. The honey rub that they had on there is some of the best I've ever had anywhere in the United States. This was one of those times where when I finished my meal I was genuinely sad because I wanted more. The people who work here are so friendly and make you feel like you're at a close relatives from back in the day when life was simpler. I can't recommend this place enough. Please drive out to Wellston and check them out!

Brisket dinner w apple pie baked beans and tater tot casserole

The brisket is tender but has no flavor. The bbq sauce is just ok. They don't start serving dinner until 5:00. It's way too hot inside. They won't let you sit at a table until you get your food. The sausage casing is way too hard. Corn on the cob has a weird flavor. The nachos were ok and the white queso on them was good. We were all unimpressed. The food was edible but just meh. Much better bbq places elsewhere. It's also on the expensive side.

Best BBQ!! We decided to take a Sunday drive to Wellston to try Butchers BBQ and it was definitely worth it! We did have to wait in line about 25 minutes on a Sunday at 1230, which was not bad! We got the ribs, pulled pork/brisket sandwich, tater tot casserole, beans, and potato salad. We tried a cocktail at the nostalgic 80's bar, and they make a great Old Fashioned cocktail.

2 meats with pulled pork, burned ends, Mac and cheese, and beans

First, I want to mention there is construction off the turnpike so we ended up having to drive around the construction on a gravel road, which added an extreme amount of time just to get there. We had our dog so we needed to seat ourselves outside. It seemed peaceful until we picked up our food. Once our food was there, the experience went to miserable quickly. The bees were absolutely swarming. We grabbed to go boxes and left. Maybe some of the food would have been better fresh but we now had to drive it home. The food was decent but I don't understand the $50 price tag. The best item was the beans. 2nd best was the burnt ends. Chicken was average. Pork was greasy. Mac and cheese was okay. We could not eat the potato salad. It had a strange flavoring that neither of us cared for. In our opinion not worth the drive or price.

Customer service was very nice. I called to place an order and the gentleman helping me was very patient and knowledgeable. The ambiance was pretty cool. Nice decor in the restaurant. We ordered the meat locker. The food was really good too. The ribs had a great smoke taste and were very tender. Everything had good flavor. I like the jalapeño and cheddar sausage. Chopped brisket , sliced turkey was very flavorful too. I mean everything was good. The sides were okay which was apple pie baked beans, mac and cheese, and the corn. I wish they gave a bigger portion of sides considering it's like a family pack being ordered . I'm glad I finally got to experience this place.

Best BBQ I have ever had. This place is worth the stop in Oklahoma. The burnt ends are tender and melt in your mouth. The brisket was juicy and had a nice smoky flavor. The inside is very cute and creates a perfect family atmosphere. They have a bar where it takes you to back in the day and reminds of your grandmothers home. Service was quick and friendly.

Good food and good experience. The waiting in line almost adds to it. It is worth making the trip out here at least once if you're a local.

Ask the Community - Butcher BBQ Stand

How early should I arrive on Sunday? Is beer served on Sunday?

If you arrive at 10:30am, you should be in good shape unless you want to be the first in line. As far as I know, they serve beer as well.

The scene: kids are hot in the car and have to use the bathroom, we have an hour left to drive…read moreafter a very long, sticky (if delightful) weekend, and mama is HANGRY. Enter Yelp. My kids know the drill, and now that they are big enough to navigate from the front seat, at least one of the them (depending on the weather, time of day, and level of hangry) is willing to be my PIC. "Mahhm! this place looks good! It's a mile off the highway [well-trained, huh?], and it has all different kinds of barbecue. There are 21 reviews and they're, like, almost all five stars!" Then the naysayer speaks up, wanting a lesson in averages- how can it be five stars if not all the reviews are five stars? Such explanation was just long enough to entertain us before pulling under the covered parking (limited, but it exists!) at Papa's Barbecue. Prices are $$ (but what isn't these days, esp. if we're not doing Mickey D's, which... we're not), and the kids both assure me they will eat their whole sandwich. So we order one for each: S has the (small... i.e., regular size) pulled pork sandwich with a side of fried okra, C has the bacon cheeseburger with a side of fried okra, and I have the (small, i.e., regular size) sliced brisket sandwich with a side of sweet potato fries. $26. We enjoyed our wait, as the place (a reno'ed gas station) was cute and clean. I'm not a fan of cutesy- it was not that. It was thoughtfully well-crafted, with the cleanest exterior bathrooms I've ever seen. The kids, during our wait, caught sight of the complimentary ice cream dispenser, and I honestly have no idea how I was able to get out of that one. We took our order to go, after picking up some pickles from the pickle bar, dousing my sandwich in some barbecue sauce on the table, and perusing the everlasting hot sauce bar. I took one bite of my brisket, on a sweet potato (not sweet potato, but sweet, potato) bun, and closed my eyes. It was so tender, so tasty, so worthy of five stars. I don't always eat barbecue, but when I do, I want it to taste like this. I tasted the kids' sandwiches, too, and was glad we all ordered something different. Each sandwich was strong on flavor and clearly the work of someone who figured out how to craft barbecue. While I loved their sandwiches, I think the sliced brisket was my favorite. We'll be back to Papa's. The next time we're in a rush to get out of town, I'm not stopping at Sonic. The next time we're in a rush to have dinner as we arrive from out of town, I'm not stopping at Whole Foods. We're going to Papa's, and we're ALL getting ice cream. And pickles. Not at the same time.

Friendly and attentive staff. The owner was trying a new item and asked me to sample. Great food…read more They care about their customers.

We watched people sing happy birthday w a giant slice of strawberry shortcake. Great portions! We ordered the judges plate and added the burnt ends along w a small side of sweet cream corn. The food! Cornbread was on point! Not grainy, overly sweet, or dry! Soft, not bitter. Champion beans are delicious, smoky, seasoned just right. Mac & cheese!!! OMG! It's just right!! Creamy, full flavor, and not bitter. Sweet cream corn, I mean, you should try it, ask for a small sample so you can decide! Burnt ends!!!! You cannot leave this place w/o trying them. We added it for an additional $4 and it was worth it! The brisket had a nice smoke ring, full of flavor. Soft and not dry at all! Juicy. The chicken fell off the bone. Tender. Well seasoned. The pull pork was perhaps my favorite. On its own it was delicious but adding some of the world champion sauce and the spicy sauce together just took it there!! Hands down, glad we made that turn and drove the extra 10m to this place on our way to California.

Honestly the sliced brisket left a lot to be desired and I do not think that it is the same product as the burnt ends. I am wondering if the burnt ends were from prime brisket and maybe the sliced brisket is from a lesser quality beef. That would make sense because the brisket burnt ends were absolutely divine and had lots of crispy bark that I just love. I was not really impressed by the bologna burnt ends and the mustard sauce. The bologna burnt ends lacked smokiness for me and I just did not enjoy the taste of the mustard (I normally love all mustards). So, let me tell you about the fried okra. I could eat a whole pound of that.....with ranch dressing of course. The finest fried okra!!!!!! We also loved the homemade pickles. I will always order homemade pickles if the option is available. These were great and we sure enjoyed the leftover bites! I would like to leave a little review that I think my little grandson would have left if he could type, use a computer and know all of his words. "I was really fond of the bbq beef but the standouts to me would have to be the mac n cheese and the championship bbq beans. In fact, I loved the bbq beans so much and got so excited that I put my forehead in the beans that my mommy put on my little child's placemat. After that all of the exursions of eating my food, playing with my food, flirting with our waitress and showing off my baby blues; I started yawning. I am not sure if it was the meat fatigue or the carb coma. Mommy and Daddy thought it was time to leave at that point and I agreed to cooperate as my bbq bean juice dyed hair was getting pretty sticky." I would definitely come in again and maybe try some other items. I would definitely get the prime brisket burnt ends again. Oh yes, AND THE OKRA and whatever my grandson wants, of course!
