I went here with my elderly parents. I got the brisket sandwich with fried okra. I love my sandwich and okra. There was a large amount of meat on the sandwich. I ended up taking some of it off and taking it home for supper. My parents had the pulled pork sandwich and a salad. They were not as happy. The pork was in large chunks with big pieces of fat, they pulled out the fat and shredded the pork into smaller pieces. They liked the flavor but assumed the pork would be shredded and not in chunks. The food seemed pretty pricey also. I eat bbq fairly regularly and this was pretty high. $18 for a sandwich and one side was on the high side in my opinion. read more

I was passing through town today and decided to give this place a try. I am very biased and opinionated on BBQ having grown up in Texas and having some of the best BBQ on earth there. I digress. I ordered a brisket sandwich, cut lean with an order of beans. I received a 85% fat and 15% meat sandwich. It was utterly disgusting and the meat was sliced in thick slices. I picked out the edible meat and tossed the other away. The beans were not great either. No taste or flavor. What a waste of 20 bucks. I will not stop here again. read more

Really appreciate this place being open on Labor Day, when a certain competitor we intended to eat at was closed. The brisket was absolutely delicious, and they weren't stingy with it either. Good BBQ sauces too. I order fried okra any time I can get it, and here it was as good as it gets. The pinto beans and a hot link were both good, but next time I think I will experiment with other menu items. Never had this happen before, but when I spit out what I thought was a bit of bone, it was a piece of my plastic fork. Looked at my fork and the recovered piece, and some was still missing; I had swallowed part of it. An upgrade of the plasticware is the only change I would make at Smokin' Joe's. I like the cash discount much better than a credit card surcharge. They are two sides of the same coin, but the surcharge folks are charging you more money than the posted price, whereas the cash discount folks are charging you less. Last and least, I was delighted to see a poster for my favorite Western, "The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly", on a wall. A wonderful BBQ experience. Large parking lot and a 5 minute wait in line to order. The food is brought to your large table, which is already equipped with 2 rolls of paper towels. And the food is delicious; it's difficult to stop eating. You get your own utensils and drinks. Restaurant is very clean and filled happy, soon to be full people. 5 stars !We found this on our way home from Lost Creek Safari. We wondered if just as good as the Davis one. It is ! Not same owner but good. Big place that has a volleyball ball court next to it. Betting it gets crowded some nights since they have benches on the outside. Very friendly. Coleslaw super good ! Okra good. Potato salad real creamy. Sliced Brisket was really good. I called this afternoon to place a pick up order. I was put on hold briefly while the person checked to make sure my requested item was available. I was told there was one left. I ordered it and asked that my name be put on it. I was told it would be ready in about 10 minutes. I said it would take me 20 minutes to get there. Extremely disappointed in this restaurant. I have eaten here numerous times before but today was the absolute worst experience ever. I ordered my 3 meat dinner of ribs, brisket and pulled pork with fries and mac n cheese at 5:31 pm. Keep in mind NONE OF THESE ARE SPECIAL ORDER! I ordered before a party of 12 and at least 4 or 5 parties of 4. The party of 12 gets ALL their food, then a couple of the parties of 4. At this point I have waited patiently for 20 minutes. I asked the cashier if I had been forgotten and she just shruggd her shoulders and said she would have to go check and then proceeded to take 2 more orders before I had to tell her to go check on my order. It is now 6 pm. She returns to tell me they are working on it, hmmmm did they have to go kill the cow? After I had to ask 3, yes 3 more times to check on my order; at 6:13 pm another lady brings out my food. I got a "here you go" Wouldn't an "I'm sorry about your wait" or "how can we make this up to you" make things better, but I got NOTHING! I asked for the manager and I was told he left at 5 pm and he would be back tomorrow when he got here! WOW! I have never been so disappointed in customer service in my life. This restaurant doesn't deserve a star, a negative 5 would be more sufficient. It would be beneficial to do some training on customer service skills and how to apologize for the inconvenience of someone waiting 42 minutes for a 3 meat dinner that I guarantee is served multiple times throughout the day. First off, I've been here four times and have found the food quality to vary quite a bit. The ribs have been good every time, and the burnt ends are great! However, the brisket was way too dry every time and pulled pork was dry three times. I will not order those two meats again. The worst thing of all is that I paid $44 for a prime rib that was overcooked to the point that I was shocked they would serve it. I saved most of it and took it home to make a stir fry the next day. We came in for lunch one day during the week and there was a good crowd there. The place is pretty big so we were able to find a table. The food took about 10 min or so to get. We ordered brisket, mac n cheese, cheeseburger, fries, and wings. Everything was really good! Now I'm no expert on barbecue. Not at all, but I know what I like and what I don't like, cause I know what my taste buds enjoy and don't. I also am looking for good value for the money I pay. My family and I have been to Smokin Joe Stilly a couple of times. It's a bit outside of Stillwater. And has a big beach volleyball court outside. Which makes me chuckle because I was born and raised in HI, and HI is known for their beach volleyball. My aunty actually plays every single week. And also goes to college volleyball games. She's a fanatic. Anyhow that's neither here nor there. It just lends itself to the atmosphere of the restaurant. When we have gone there I've gotten their ribs, pulled pork, brisket and bologna. Now again I'm no expert. And I didn't know that smoked bologna was a thing. And it was good. I wasn't necessarily impressed with it. But I'm not judging the restaurant on just the bologna. I mainly judge a barbecue restaurant on their ribs, brisket and pulled pork. I also judge them on their portions in relation to the prices. The prices were decent in comparison to some other places I've been. The batch of pulled pork I had was ok, albeit a bit dry. The brisket and ribs were good. And I always prefer when the meat comes out dry. I'd rather dress it with the sauce I want. Mainly cause I'm picky that way. The first time my husband wanted to try the bologna but wasn't all that impressed, so when we went back he didn't get it. We both thought the pulled pork was meh, but he loved the ribs and the brisket. I'm not a brisket person. But the ribs to me were good. I like my ribs tender but not falling off the bone tender. I still like some of the meat stuck to the bone. The service was ok. The one thing that I always have a hard time with is going up to a counter to order, and then the food is brought to me. Maybe that's just me but I prefer having the order taken at the table. I did order their strawberry cobbler. But for some reason they mistakenly gave me the wrong one. It was fixed immediately. So that was fine. The biggest thing that's hard is how far on the opposite side of town the restaurant is. If you're new to town and don't know the area well you might miss it because of where it is. Otherwise definitely try it. It may not have as many choices on the menu as other restaurants but it's worth trying at least once. read more

We were looking for great bbq and my Yelp reviewers didn't do me wrong, this place is great. From the look of the restaurant, outdoor volleyball courts and the smell of smoking meats, this is true BBQ! Prices are very reasonable for the quality and quantity of food you get. My gigantic son and I actually split the 3 meat meal and we're full. Service was great and love hearing the real southern accent! The atmosphere is perfect, lots of taxidermy on the walls and OSU fans everywhere. Highly recommend the Brisket and half chicken, along w the Mac and cheese and fries. Hot links were hot but not really flavorful and the beans were simply boiled with meat and pepper, so wouldn't go for those again. Overall, great place and a must if you're in town. Good Lord! The portion sizes here are the largest you can find anywhere in Oklahoma. The food is amazing but be careful, just the one meat dinner is enough for two. I ordered the ribs and got the four largest ribs I have ever seen. I was only able to get through three of them and gave the other one to one of my friends. This place has a very cool setup, and the food is high quality. This was my first opportunity to try smoked prime rib, and they knocked it out of the park. My only regret was not having more of an appetite so I could try a few more smoked meats. The sides were also solid, with the mac being particularly good. The only kind of weird thing was the split setup with all alcoholic beverages being available separately at the bar by the beach volleyball court. It's a bit inconvenient to have to stand in two separate lines, but it wouldn't stop me from returning. It's a cool spot with outstanding bbq, and you should definitely check it out. read more

Was in Stilly for a funeral and needed some BBQ and this was fantastic, had the brisket and rib combo. Brisket cut from the Poi t which i asked for was as good as any I've had from all the top brisket restuarants in central Texas, ribs were very good too. I had beans and fries for sides, beans were kinda bland but some BBQ sauce (which is very good too) fixed that and the fries weren't anything to get excited about either but the meat filled me up so I was happy. I'm new to town, and big on BBQ so I was excited to try this place after reading the reviews. It wasn't bad, it was pretty alright. I had asked for fatty brisket and these slices were pretty dry. I didn't have any of the ribs but my boyfriend said the ribs were really dry as well - likely a result of keeping them under warmers all day OR from when they reheated the meat. The Polish sausage was incredible, and the coleslaw was probably some of the best I've ever had (they put green apple slices in theirs)! Not a fan of the baked beans - they were more like Smokey pinto beans... sauce was savory and watery instead of thick and sweet like you imagine when you order baked beans. Fries were average but the potato salad was creamy and had a hint of vinegar that we really enjoyed. The service was fine, mostly college kids serving. And the atmosphere was standard, lots of stuffed deer heads and antlers - great if you're in to hunting. May I suggest for take out, ifyou are going to use styrofoam containers, that you line the container with some paper towels. Nobody wants to eat melted styrofoam on their okra.
