Family members have been raving about this place for quite some time as an excellent source for quality meats. We live on the other side of town but made the drive to check it out. It's a cool looking store with lots of great stuff. Everything is beautifully displayed. This is a great place for someone who loves the barbecue. On this day we chose some seasoned chicken thighs, and a package of seasoned chili Verde. The people are great. They are very helpful with giving you ideas on how to prepare the different meats. We wandered around and checked out the variety of products they offer. The store is laid out very nicely. On checkout, we mentioned it was our first visit there, and we got two free sausages of our choice. Can't beat that. We cooked the chicken thighs that night. They were tender and delicious. We had the chili verde day yesterday. We slow cooked it in the afternoon, and enjoyed it in the evening. This is a very comfortable place to shop and we're looking at going back. Great local butcher shop and conveniently located in the northwest. My husband is a grill master. He's been to Butcher Block several times to pick up a variety of cuts. The butchers behind the counter are super friendly and knowledgeable about their products. Their meats are high quality and always fresh. So far, we've tried the tomahawk steak, filet mignon, ribeye, tri-tip, lamb chops, Basque sausage, and I believe it was called jalapeño cheese sausage (my favorite). I love me some butcher block! The meats that we have had are all great. Plus they do awesome 20$ specials throughout the week that feed 2. We usually do : Tuesday-tacos ( various boxes of different meats) Thursday-burgers (chuck or bacon cheddar) Friday-fish Don't forget to grab one of their red or green fresh salsas in the back. Beware the mango habanero it is SPICY! They also do really good specials on other baskets of meats. I love the fiesta pack for when we have family over. I've been here a few times now and I can say without a doubt they have some of the best cuts of meat, unique and flavorful sausages, knowledgeable staff, and just an all around well stocked and decorated place to pick up everything you would need for a great meal at home. The bacon mac n cheese sausage was surprisingly delicious and you could actually see bits of bacon and noodles in it. **2.5 Stars** Yelp won't let you do half stars unfortunately.... It seems like I and this butcher thing is like groundhog day lately!! You know that movie? Or like getting a boyfriend then feeling like oh shit what a big ass mistake that was!! Haha! But wow the same thing that happened at my last butcher happened here god i'm so sick of the inconsistencies!! This place is beautiful when you walk in very clean!! Customer service here is also good. A plus is when you buy the brisket burgers you get free brioche buns with them! And i will say the brisket burgers are my absolute favourite things from here! The short ribs and filet were fine as well but honestly i've had better but at least it wasn't bad or poor quality! But that's where it ends. Last time my son and I got some sausages different flavours and when I opened them up 3 of the 6 were spoiled and yes we were cooking them the day we got them! How do you not know you are giving me spoiled sausages? And no i'm not calling you to complain because you know what, you are a butcher you have one specialty which is meat! You know if your meat is bad! And if you don't then shame on you. We also got skirt steak aka flap meat which i have been cooking for many years i know how to cook a badass juicy skirt steak and this steak was the worst quality i have ever seen!! I paid around $20 for and it went in the trash! It was so tough literally like chewing gum but you couldn't even bite through it! I swear a rubber shoe would've been better! One of my filets were quite gristly which for that price i would think you'd trim it better. At least it was edible!! Taco boxes!! They have a taco Tuesday special we've tried and my older son has got them for his family too well it's unanimous a big fat no!! The meat in each one the asada and the pastor was so greasy like a pool of grease a lot!! Just not enjoyable. Which led to a lot being thrown away now I love fatty!! I'm the one eating that crispy steak and pork fat and moaning while doing so but this was different Lol!! The accoutrements that come with it were awesome but the main components not so great because of that grease. I hate truly hate giving "less than" reviews but after being here so much then every single time something is spoiled or poor quality i just gotta vent and be honest. Will I come back yea for those brisket burgers occasionally because those are Bomb!! But i've found a new local butcher as of today elsewhere so high hopes for that!! I truly wish you guys the best maybe double check and cook a bit of everything you have to make sure it's great quality first before packaging and selling and smell your sausages etc to make sure they aren't spoiled just keep a closer eye out not everyone will call you to report receiving bad meats nor should they have to most will just not come back. read more

Had the most amazing bacon wrapped filets from Butcher Block last night. Today we went back for their grand opening and to get some sauces for bread. Staff is friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, attentive. Selection is outstanding. Thankful we only live a street away. This will be our go-to place for all meats from here on out. Happy customers! The have a taco Tuesday value box that comes with everything you need for your taco's. They have some killer sausages as well. FYI watch out for the Ghost Pepper Sausage. We came by the other day to order some meats for a party. And they really do carry quality meats. First off this place is huge!! It's so spacious and really clean. They carry all sorts of meats, as well as sauces, oils, and everything that's needed for a good bbq. And the meats are really good quality. We bought about 3 lbs of wagyu ribeye, bone marrow as well as a tomahawk steak. Prices are high, but for the quality it's totally worth it. The wagyu ribeye was about $130 a lb, which sounds like a lot. But when restaurants charge $80 an oz, it really makes $130 a lb looks like a steal. The marbling and high fat content of the wagyu is just top notch. They offer it from the quarter inch cut all the way to the 2 inch thick sizes. They also carry bone marrow, which they slice for you also. And it was quite affordable. For 3 whole pieces or 6 cuts it was less than $22. I dont know whether the tomahawk was cooked thr following day or what, but it seemed as though it had a smell to it. Everyone said there wasent but it smelled a bit rancid. They have everything there to make a really nice meal. What makes this place really stand out though is not only the knowledge and skill set of the butchers (which all butcher shops should have), but their customer service was really top notch too. The butcher that helped me out was really nice. Put his 2 cents in when asked. But was not pushy or rude. Very knowledgeable. Helpful. Gave me the needed information to assist me in making the wagyu turn out the best it possibly can. I would definitely come back here again to get some high quality meats, at a respectable price. 3 lbs of wagyu, 6 slices of bone marrow, a tomahawk steak and a bag of crustinis and hot dog buns was in the mid $500's. Which sounds like a lot, but for 7 adults and 4 children it was about 2 meals worth, so not bad at all for high quality meats. read more

One day I'm scrolling on Facebook and a deal went flying by. When I backed up and seen it was from the elusive place I'd been driving by for months, I had to click to see what they were offering. To my surprise it was my favorite meal...TACOS!!!! So they offer 2 pounds of either Asada, chicken, or pastor with an onion, cilantro, jalapeños, a lemon and a 12 pack of either flour or corn tortillas. All for $20!!! Yes, you heard me correctly, just $20! Let's just say, I couldn't get down there quick enough to pick up my Taco Box! My first impression of the place upon walking in was Trendy. It's a cute spot, open and airy, with all the fixings and of course the butcher block (or as I like to call it, Butcher Bar). They have everything from chuck roast steaks to wagyu tomahawk steaks! They even have BEEF chili verde sausages and a cheese and jalapeño stuffed tri tip! They also have a plethora of salsas, local bbq sauces and chips! Once I ordered my box and let the butcher know which meat I wanted (asada), it was time to grab my tortillas. I was just in time for some warm ones that were just layed out. When I brought the box home, my husband said I'd wasted my money...$10 a pound for taco meat?! Needless to say, I cooked the meat anyway and he literally ATE HIS WORDS! The meat was seasoned perfectly! (A huge difference from the new location of the Vallarta market on Rosedale) All the provided fixings were amazing!
