I am super impressed with this spot. It has really become a quick go to for me for tacos. They have meat and potato tacos, as well as breakfast burritos. I tend to get the asada with medium salsa. I like the simplicity and freshness of this place. They have added 2 tables if you want to eat in. Now as for the rest of it, this place is well stocked. Almost a mini grocery store! There's a fresh vegetable section, the pastries are pretty delicious with good variety and reasonable pricing. There's lots of treats to be found around here, good selection for tea flavors. There's tons of spices and seasonings for your meats and the deli counter is huge. They do cakes, piñatas, and have a small dairy section. There's seafood as well. Every soda flavor you could ever need including glass bottle real sugar kinds. I definitely love exploring here and finding new things to try or old favorites. I've been a regular customer at La Carreta for years, but my last visit was really disappointing. I bought a tres leches cake for my husband, and when I got home and he took a bite, we realized it was expired. I checked the label on top, which said October 18th, but underneath that, it said October 7th. It was hard to notice at first because the milk from the cake seemed normal (like part of the tres leches/horchata), but it turns out it was expired and sour. When I went back, they refunded my money, which I appreciated, but the fact that they put a new label over an old one is concerning. This is a serious health issue, and I hope they address it quickly so it doesn't happen to anyone else! read more

My husband brought me some menudo a few weeks ago a lil late in the day , the menudo was basically 90% broth with next to NOTHING of tripe or grano , I thought well maybe because it was late in the day they were running low .... ( which I don't understand why they would even serve it and sell it this way ) Fast forward to this Sunday he went EARLY in the morning picked up TWO MENUDOS again brought them home and AGAIN NOTHING BUT BROTH a few pieces of tripe and a tablespoon or two of grano mind u for two menudos ran roughly about $30.00 comes with NO tortillas , NO oregano , NO cilantro and hardly any tripe or hominy , I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ordering the menudo here as I will not return here for it again waste of money , gas and time , do yourself a favor and go elsewhere unless your in the mood for BROTH ONLY !!! This is a really well kept Carniceria and they have a nice produce section. Only bad thing about this place is the price... I'm sorry guys but $20 per pound of ranchera is insane. I was here last month and it was $17 and they increased it up now to $20. You start to get to a point where driving to another Carniceria to save $20-$50 on meat and for the quality also is like do I wanna pay $80 for 4 pounds just on ranchera alone for the an asada with the family + all the other meat and produce. I order from the deli on a regular basis for delicious quick authentic Mexican food. By "regular basis" I mean weekly, particularly on Monday or Tuesday's for the dollar taco night! I tried all the different types of tacos, and my favorite is definitely the Carne Asada. Sooooo good, can very easily devour four tacos. Brilliant foodie minds can differ as to the best, my friend adores the chicken ... Recently we have been having a lot of their tamales. A coworker prefers the chicken, though my boyfriend likes the pork tamales. Earlier this month we got several dozen for a work xmas party, because so many coworkers love the tamales here, and I took a dozen to my mom's. It's a family tradition to have tamales during the holidays- tamales, a prime rib and assorted Chinese dishes. This morning, I am working on maintaining my best coworker status by ordering burritos for work today. About a month ago we did a taste test / burrito challenge and decided we liked the chorizo burritos better than the carne asada ones. So, I m getting a handful of those, and some regular breakfast burritos. The burritos here are huge and soooo delicious ! For the first time, I bought some salsa tarasca which has onions cilantro jalapeño peppers salt lemon black pepper ....I liked the ingredients, and thought it would be good. I was right; it was soooo great, particularly if you like cilantro and spicy! It's not really advertised much but if you check in on Yelp you get a free small salsa !!! How cool is that? read more

I've been here before when I was craving a burrito or torta. They do it pretty darn well. It had been a while and it looks like quite a few things have changed. They added a little station towards the fridge section that has all the Mexican snacked. Esquite, Mexican candied apples, mangonadas ( which I am sure would be excellent blended with some liquor) Some things are still the same however. The store is still incredibly clean , the staff very friendly and the carne Asada already seasoned is still freaking DE-RI-CIOUS!! I love their homemade salsas. I snagged the habanero, a bright green one (not tomatillo) and a pico for chips. All amazing. The habanero and bright green had a nice kick to it and paired really well with the smoked chicken I made and their carne Asada on homemade flour tortillas. There are some shelf items that are pricier than going to Vallarta but the meat is of much better quality. Ps. They also have Mexican chips! read more

If this place wasn't so expensive I'd give this a solid 5/5. I used to come here a while back but the prices are outrageous compared to other stores. Some of their tortillas are about $8 a pack where other stores sell them between $3-5. The salsas are pretty good as well as the guacamole but the guacamole is super expensive too. This isn't my first time shopping at La Carreta but it's my first time at this location. I haven't been in a while to the other one as the parking lot is meh lol...my son and I have been back twice now for a variety of meats, salsas, pastries (omg those flaky yummy giant ones are soooo good!! And the bread ones with the cinnamon sugar on top aren't super sweet just right) and dangerous hahaha...that salsa Tarasca in my pic beware you will not want to stop dipping chips in that!! I love the marinated meats here and the pastor delicious! The skirt steak is thin and I make my own marinade and grill it with those big green onion things from the produce area omg so yummy. The staff is always sweet and restocking with fresh stuff which is a welcome change from picked over grocery store product at the big stores...I definitely appreciate that. Oh the cooked rice and beans in the containers on the meat department counter are fabulous I actually like their rice better than mine!! Never will I shop here again! after being a loyal customer since the day they opened. My experience today I purchased half a dozen or tamales almost $18 and they wanted to charge me $1 per salsa that came from the kitchen area HOT FOOD!! The $1 salsa isn't even 1 oz of salsa. I've never had issues till today. Luis acts like they are going to go broke because of it! I didn't see the lady's name but she was so rude over it to. After reading all the reviews I decided to stop and pick up a few items I needed for my tacos I was making. Upon entering I was pleasantly surprised how nice and neatly the store was laid out. Produce was at the right hand side. Very fresh and good prices. I needed cilantro, limes, onions, tortillas and salsa. So I found some chopped onions and cilantro in a container at the meat counter at the back of the store. On the counter were containers of salsa, avocado salsa, chopped onions and cilantro. The selection of salsa was varied from mild to very hot. I selected medium hot, it was a green salsa. The orange one said very hot, habanero, ah no! Although the guy behind the meat counter suggested it. Then I decided to go ahead and order some of their tacos since most of the reviews are about their take out tacos. Then I noticed that on the weekends they had menudo and that's one of my husbands fav's so I asked if they still had any since it was late on Saturday, and luckily they did. I ordered that and 2 carnitas tacos. So I finished my shopping while it was being made and I paid for it and my groceries and took them to the car and it was ready. The tacos were full of pork, tender and plentiful with all the usual fixings and sauce was spicy but really good. The menudo was just ok said my husband. The tripe was a little on the big side, a lot of the menudo he prefers it is cut up a lot smaller. Otherwise he said the flavor was good just the tripe was not cut up good enough and it was chewy. I love this place but terribly disappointed in the discrimination today at the mean counter. I was patiently waiting my turn to get mean but then a Hispanic male walked up and the woman helped him over me. I could be wrong but I think it's because I look white. I bought 12 spice rubs today for Father's Day, the price listed on all of them was $11.29 each. They rang up at $12.99 each. When I brought it to their attention, the manager came over and said "sorry, someone didn't switch the label on the shelf." I pressed the issue, and they continued to refuse to give me the price that was advertised on the shelf and just kept saying "it is the price that it is ringing up as." Sorry, but that's not my fault that you didn't change the price in the shelf. Overcharged me $20 for their stupidity and not keeping the customer happy. Will NOT be going back here. read more
