Great service most of the time, good meat options and okay salsas . Unfortunately the last few times the asada has been thick and extremely hard to chew. Their meat used to be fall apart. BEWARE: Went in today around 2-3pm to get 3lbs of carne asada meat ranchera and 2lbs prepared chicken to grill. I got my two items at the same time and told the guy that that was it. I made line and paid for my items and left home. Once i got home i put my meat in the fridge to cook it later. Around 6:20pm i was getting ready to grill ny food when i opened the meat package i saw it was not ranchera. I looked at the label and saw it read diesmillo prepared i was livid i was upset. I called the store to see if i could return my item or exchange it for the right product. LET ME TELL YOU THEIR customer service/store manager whatever the guy was/is was just not understanding. I get it we live in times where coronavirus has changed store policies i understand that i get it. But when your employee messes up on my order and rather than making a situation better you just dismiss my concern. Anyways long story short in stead of the guy offering something in return for their fuck up he just stated that i should be more cautious and look at my item to make sure its right before buying!. Not only that but they have a sign saying no more than 10 people yet they have like 30 people not including workers in that building. This place used to have good service, good meat, good food and good workers but over the years this place has gone to shit and I'm pissed off. We buy chicken because it's good the seasoning in delicious but they price the chicken ridiculously expensive like what the fuck is wrong with you guys. Not to mention on nights that there's fights like when canelo fights, or sports events like the Super Bowl they over price the marinated meats and they don't season them like they used to. They get stingy as hell with the seasoning and when we ask them to add more they say no it will be salty. I don't buy seasoned meat no or chicken no more because 2 days later it smells rancid and I throw it away. If you want better meat and quality at a better price and seasoned really well I highly suggest Rainbow market the marinated chicken is delicious. They have tons of other meats here, but we mainly come for the carne asada and the pastor. I remember growing up my mom used to go to the local market who had butchers, you don't see that in today's grocery stores. I think the last one I really saw in that fashion was State Market in Delano before the Young family sold it. I know Vallarta does it but it is just not the same for me but when I found La Carreta, it immediately reminded me of the one my mom used to go to in Earlimart. La Carreta is small but not entirely quaint, their butchers are always friendly and offer recommendations if you look like you haven't made a choice. Though the majority of the language here spoken is Spanish I've never felt out of place when ordering. They offer a variety of groceries and some pastries like conchas and bollilo bread too. Most of our visits is buying taco meat, whether it is beef, chicken or pork, the price per pound is always reasonable and prepared with spices that is delicious when cooked. They offer both seasoned and non-seasoned meat of all cuts, chorizo and pork skin. We most recently purchased a party pack of meat for a party we had, 33 pounds of meat (different cuts of meat) for $80, you will not be able to do that at a Walmart, WinCo or FoodMaxx. The service here is also excellent, it could be packed with a line swarming through the small store and still be out within 5-10 minutes. They are just so efficient at what they do, never been a time I left annoyed or disappointed with them. They have all the essentials for tacos too, chopped onions, red and green salsas, fresh veggies and of course tortillas. You like beer with your tacos like I do? They sell that too along with 2-liter sodas and more. One last thing, the place is super clean and that is very crucial for a place like La Carreta. I've never seen a fly inside, that is amazing too because people are just constantly coming in and leaving. read more

We live down the street from this place so it's very convenient and the asada is always fresh. The spanish cheese is excellent! if you don't mind the wait on weekends then I highly recommend you getting your meats here. I see people taking their huge pots on weekends for their menudo we haven't tried it yet but on our try list. I would have given 5 stars but the wait on weekends is 20-25 minutes in & out the door but then again if you go to a carniceria and there's no lines then the meats probably not good. read more
