Been using the Recycling Alternative for quite a few years now at work. We've used the recycling…read moreservice, where they come and pick up our paper and paper products for recycling. We keep 6 large bins in our storage that we fill up with paper, cardboard, and shredded material and when they are full we give them a call and ask them to pick them up. Pick up is usually done the same week, but occassionally we've called later in the week and they have already done our area that week, so the pick up gets scheduled for the week following. Works out well for us. There hasn't been much of an increase in the price of the service over the years. They managed to reduce their fuel costs by adding new and more advanced trucks to their fleet, which allows them better fuel economy, so they didn't have to pass on increased costs to the customers. Great business, wonderful service, and very reasonable prices.

After they picked up the couch, they demanded my wife pay $225 and claimed it was "quoted wrong". Eventually my wife was able to pull up a quote copy that I sent her and eventually it was honoured. They also tried to upsell my wife by noting that filling half a truck was only $600, which wasn't at all close to a service we needed or wanted. On-top of that, their website notes that they'll sweep up afterwards, which they also didn't do. I would not recommend this service. It's $15 to throw out a couch at the Vancouver Transfer station.

The lines for the service centre (printing/shipping) is often super long with only 1 person helping. Even once you get to the front of the line you'll likely be met with someone extremely rude and unwilling to help with even basic tasks. Today I went to do a return where the provider clearly stated that Staples could print the label for me at this location but the staff refused to do so, even after I explained that I had done this at other Staples locations. She was rude and unhelpful during the whole interaction. I was forced to print my own label and then spent time waiting for the rep to return to complete my return while she ignored me and served another custom who had come into the line after me instead. Super frustrating experience every time and I definitely won't be back.
