For the new owners GENERATION COFFEE If I could give zero stars, I would. For being such a "Christian" organization, they definitely are not living by what they preach. My family went to Generation Coffee today . for a painting session. My father, who is sick of esophageal cancer and an active member of the community, including the Desert Dumping Task Force and was chosen as a City Ambassador, wanted to join my mom and his granddaughter while they took their paint class as a way to spend a nice morning together. An employee of Generation Coffee approached him and pointed to the door. He said he was with someone from the painting class, and they said that he wasn't and forced him to leave. He was absolutely humiliated and embarrassed and was unable to spend the rest of his time with his family. You should be ashamed of yourselves for judging someone by how they look. read more

We used to love Butler's until today. My wife went with a few of her mom friends and their children (4 kids). They were asked to leave before they even received their drinks because the kids were being too loud... apparently other customers were having a meeting which trumped the right of my wife and her friends (also paying customers) to enjoy themselves. Color me disappointed. REVISION: Changed from 1 star to 2 because apparently my wife was exaggerating when she told me they were asked to leave. Apparently they weren't specifically asked to leave, but rather they were asked to control their kids. Apparently the kids were playing happily and not in need of any correction (in my wife's opinion). So her and her friends chose to leave willingly instead of correcting the kids' behavior of playing (albeit probably loudly). I left the initial review so the viewer can track with the revisions. REVISION #2: Changed from 2 stars back to 1 star because a different yelper made fun of these bad reviews. I'm sure the owners of Butler's are very good people, and I've actually heard many good things said about them. This bad review is not an attack on them as people, but rather simply a statement of disappointment in the service received by my wife and friends. MORAL OF THE STORY: If you're taking your rambunctious children (like ours) to Imagine City (a few doors down) and think this coffee shop is conveniently close, consider going out of your way to get your caffeine elsewhere. I think someone somewhere mentioned a Starbucks nearby that might be more accepting of our loud kids. P.S. Parent shaming anyone for any reason is really heartbreaking. We're all just trying to do the best with what we've got. Just because one child has low energy and a calm demeanor doesn't mean their parent is an amazing human that instilled these qualities in them. This place is problematic in every aspect. To start, employees should be paid for job training, period. I know this establishment says they are a nonprofit training program but the atmosphere is more like child exploitation. "100 or more" hours unpaid "training" is not necessary to work as a barista. (I use the term barista loosely since my chia latte was a powder scooped out of a can). Butlers is obviously someone just trying to abuse the system and get free labor. The "coffee" sucks too, my husbands black cherry latte tasted like syrup and warm milk. How can a place be training anyone if they do not have good foundations like appropriate ingredients, recipes, and basic knowledge of coffee. Also, there is petty sign that says the owner lets her dog run around but all other animals are not welcome inside. (except service animals are which is the law) read more

Several groups were present and clearly visiting in a comfortable and welcoming environment. Business model appears to support at risk youngsters with faith based program. My wife and I came to "Generations Coffee" and loved the vibe. It was the best coffee I had in AV. A few weeks later we returned with our kids. My sons (6 and 10) are avid chess players and as soon as we walked in they said "look dad they have a chess board". One of the employees immediately grabbed the chess set and placed it near the back of the store. I then asked him "do you mind if my sons play chess?" to which he stated "we'd rather not". The owner of the store quickly jumped in and asked "well, are they going to play chess or just play with the pieces? We have a lot of kids who put them in their mouth or damage them" I explained to her their enjoyment for the game and how they were planning on starting a chess club at their school and which point she authorized them to play. I understand the reasoning and hesitation but there is an appropriate way to have a conversation rather than punishing all children and not taking accountability or addressing the parent. The coffee is what brings customers in, not the games. Credit to the owner who did approach me and my family afterwards to discuss the employee. Stating the employee "didn't mean anything by it" and that he "was instructed to take board games away when child came in". In my opinion, not the correct way to run a business but it's not my establishment so she has the right to do what she wants. The conversation was condescending and I felt that it was more for the customers around me rather than an equal exchange. The coffee was okay the 2nd time (my judgment may be clouded by the interaction)... but not good enough to bring us back again. read more

Looking for a coffee shop that is more concerned with posting government recall posters than providing any semblance of customer service, all while not wearing or enforce mask regulations? I commend the one employee wearing their mask while making our drinks, but for the manager (owner?) to not have that sort of respect for public health is safety is downright embarrassing. Been here several times and always have a good time. The coffee is good, the service is great, and the location is very clean. They have deserts, but I haven't had a chance to check them out. They have regular seating as well as more comfortable chairs for relaxing. I prefer to buy from locally owned shops rather than the big chains when possible. read more

Went there this morning with a couple mom friends and were asked what felt like to leave, before our last friend had even gotten her coffee because our kids were being too loud. They were just playing together and being kids. I'm amazed that a business would treat paying customers like this, let alone mothers with children. Very disappointed, will never be back & telling all my mom friends about it. (While not being specifically asked to leave, that is how it felt for all the mothers present.) We all left feeling like we had just been kicked out. Being told, "excuse me but people are trying to have a meeting could you just..." in a very rude manner, it felt like being asked to leave. I appreciate the apology. I don't appreciate the other passive aggressive reviews directed towards our experience. This place was once great serving Coffee. I love the atmosphere but some of the employees/Management really need some training in customer service. Now it's like get your coffee and leave. I needed to use the restroom before ordering and asked this young man which had a bad attitudes "Artsifartsi" if I could use the restroom and he said it was for customers only! They are all like A.I. employees. The NEW GENERATION sucks! I walked out and ran across to another restaurant and used there's. I don't know if it's changed hands but when it was Butler it was much better. BAD ATTITUDE including the African American MANAGER. I don't recommend this Coffee shop. I used to love coming here when it was Butlers. It is now under new ownership and is called Generations Coffee. We drove from over an hour away so I could drop my husband off here for a meeting. The restrooms were locked. After asking to use them the manager said "absolutely not." After arguing for a moment, my husband asked if the owner was in. The manager quickly changed his mind and allowed him to use it. His meeting lasted about an hour or so with a couple of drink purchases. I arrived to pick him up. I was going to purchase a drink as well and join the last few minutes of the meeting, but needed to use the restroom first. I was told "good luck" by another customer. I asked the girl at the counter to unlock the door. She looked at her manager and he didn't say anything but gave a loud sigh and an exaggerated eye roll, making sure I could see he was peeved about it. He nodded toward the restroom door to let the girl know it was okay. Afterward I decided I didn't want to purchase a DRINK as I might have to use the facilities again and didn't want to have to be embarrassed about it again or denied use. Kind of a silly rule for a place that serves drinks and has created an environment that encourages people to hang out and order even more drinks. read more

This place is a great venue to study or have some good conversation with someone. It's not to loud, the room is big, and there is items in here for children to play with if you have kids. I will say the coffee is not the best in the valley, but it's not bad. I prefer it Over some others. I come here to study and work and to train some employees. All of the baristas are volunteer from a church organization so that's pretty cool. They have other options that coffee which is great. I come here 2-3x a month when I'm in the area. My experience at butlers has always been amazing. Personally reading another moms post I am very surprised about how they felt. I have always brought my children to butlers and we as a family have always felt very welcomed. We have three kiddos with two being under three (so as expected they can get a little excited) but my kiddos have not been told anything negative and LOVE coming to butlers. Personally, we try to be very aware and respectful of other customers in the shop. Definitely a family friendly coffee shop. read more

I was looking for a place that provide Keto options, and Butler's Coffee was on the top tier when searching in the area. I decided to give them a try this morning, and I'm glad I made that choice. I ordered a Keto everything bagel breakfast with egg, bacon and provolone. Amazing!! Friendly staff as well. I'm looking forward to trying additional Keto items on the menu. This is the cutest little coffee shop in the Antelope Valley. The owners and staff are amazing! Genuinely kind and compassionate towards customers. The food and drinks are delicious. The environment is peaceful and inviting. Great place to do your studies or work. They have guest internet, plenty of tables and chairs. My personal favorite drink of choice is an iced vanilla latte. The owners also do a lot for the community including hiring teenagers and young adults to provide them with work experience. Highly recommend Butler's Coffee. read more

In terms of deliciousness of items, 4-5 stars for sure. I love the 4 different flavors of chai and the tried the bagels which were also good. However, I did not appreciate that the owner/manager did not wear her mask while helping the barista prepare our food. I did not appreciate that the manager's dog came up to us (their official "greeter") as we walked in. There was a leash, but no one made any moves to get the dog until I tried to lead the dog away from licking my ankles. The manager made a comment that "not everyone wants to be your friend" to the dog. We love dogs, but I would rather be able to go up to the dog if I would like to pet it, not have it come and lick me when I just want to be in a coffee shop. The barista was kind but inexperienced. Messed up my order 2 times, even when I clarified my order when he shouted across the shop to me. We weren't in a rush, but it would've been frustrating if I had somewhere to be (and it was a little annoying as we were hungry). read more

What a lovely independent coffee shop in the middle of the AV and all the corporate chains! Possibly one of the best iced vanilla chai lattes I've ever had. The sausage, egg & cheese bagel sandwich was amazing too. There's a cute faux fireplace and several mini boutiques set up in the corners--I bought a pretty floral top while I waited for my food. 1st visit- arrived well before closing , thought it was a very cute spot and was empty. Perfect for a coffee with my 2 nieces. However it wasn't near closing and the staff started cleaning all around us and near us and turning off lights. Did not feel welcomed anymore so we left. 2nd visit- wanting to support small business, I stopped by with 30 min left before I had to be at work up the street; there were 3 employees, I ordered a coffee, out of stock, another, out of stock, finally ordered one they had a blueberry muffin warmed up. I paid and waited 25 min while one employee was on her phone and the other was in the back. The one making my coffee did not seem sure of how to make it. I was asked again if I wanted my blueberry muffin warmed up, I said yes, expecting to get that first. I was only customer in there and asked at the 15 min mark and 30 min mark about my order, I was given a rude answer about them doing their best. Let them know I didn't need the muffin I'll take a refund , was told it would be a bit for that but they could get me the muffin now. It was still frozen. Finally got my coffee with no apology or acknowledgement for the 35 min wait. 3rd visit- not my choice, went with a coworker , walked in, no one wearing masks and no customer spacing.
