So I decided to try this bar because of the reviews. I had a sort of mixed experience. When I went to the ladies room there was a sign stating "Please don't do coke in the bathroom". That should have been my first warning about this place. It's a cute bar but they are dishonest about their prices. The white wine I asked for was $9 on the menu. When I asked my server when I got the first bill I thought happy hour was going on she said " It might be applied to just our house wines." Then, when I pointed out there was a discrepancy on the menu vs. the first bill I received she looked at it and said " Well that might be because the register automatically just applied that charge to the bill". I ended up paying for the happy hour payment after all. It just seems sketchy she hiked up the price for one glass of wine. read more

From the first time I visited this bar about ten years ago to pre-Covid February, this place has really gone through a few transformations. It used to be martini and cigar bar, and then only a martini bar. The drinks have always just gone up in price. They do have an extensive list of choices and varieties of martinis available. It's worth coming in for a speciality drink and then finishing out your evening somewhere else. It tends to be overly crowded later in the night. read more

Great price for the quality coming from a Californian (and especially coming from Memphis, Tennessee on a road trip). $4 Martinis - Yes please! I've been to this martini bar a couple times now and I have to say it's probably one of my favorites to go on the weekends in Amarillo. Between my friends and I, we've tried at least 20 of their martinis (no exaggeration) and 95% of them are freaking delicious. That 5% is still good, but just not my favorite alcohols mixed together-- but everyone has their different tastes. The vibe is good, it's always packed, the music is fun (on occasion you'll get a live band playing too). My friends and I love coming here for their $4 martinis during HH. They have an extensive list of drinks and the bartenders are even willing to customize the martinis for no extra cost. By no means is this a place to dance, but it is definitely a place to lounge and have a great time with friends. If you can get to the couches, I recommend it; but its sort of loud, so I can be hard to hear one another. read more

Downtown Amarillo has some pretty neat buildings from days past. Butler's is located in one of these antiquated buildings. I happen to adore the lofty ceilings and the chandeliers are very unique, adding a vintage and romantic feel. This place is usually very busy, and for good reason - the martinis are wonderful and the menu goes on for days. They have a full bar, but there is definitely a martini for each and every palate. Some of my favorites are the oatmeal cookie, which tastes exactly like its namesake, the Scooby, the birthday cake (frothy with a sprinkled rim) and the dirty bloody (a savory martini for Bloody Mary lovers). Next time you're downtown, take a load off at Butler's and try a couple of their specialty cocktails! read more

First time visiting Butler's Martini Bar, and it will definitely not be the last! I am disappointed that I didn't know about this hidden gem until now. This awesome place has been here and I didn't even realize it. Tried 3 different drinks - Birthday Cake, Godiva, and Mango Razz. All were excellent - no complaints. Great atmosphere and phenomenal drinks! I even liked flavors I thought I would hate. Service is a little slow, but that is only because they were so busy, and our waitress was great. The night we went they had a man playing the piano that was very good and funny, which meant for an entertaining evening. The venue is a little small, but if you can get a seat, it is pretty cozy. read more

My initial experience with this place was bad. It was a Saturday night, and some friends were having their post-wedding party spread across this place and the Mayfair. This place was *PACKED*! We sat on the patio and I didn't even go inside to get my drinks - I just waited for the waitress to come outside. Fast forward almost a year later... A friend and I were looking for a chill place to get a drink on a Tuesday night. I didn't want to see anybody I knew from anywhere for any reason. So we came here. There was maybe five other people in the bar. Nice and dark inside, cool couches, awesome art and coffee shop-style tables for two or three. Excellent selection of high-end liquor. I ordered a Knob Creek and water, a drink I would never consider ordering anywhere else, a.) because most bars don't carry Knob Creek, and b.) because I usually visit cheap bars to pound drink specials and get out of the house. I really think of this as the coffee shop of bars. It's a place to sip on a nice drink and have an actual conversation, instead of yelling over Kid Rock on the jukebox. A little on the pricey side, but the drinks all come in doubles glasses and the ambiance is cool when it's not packed. I will be back soon, but not on a weekend night. read more

This place bills itself as a martini bar, but its martinis (with the exception of the dirty bloody martini) are horrendous--way too sweet to be enjoyable. Also, the bouncer is a complete douchebag. However, this is actually a fun bar. It is small, but the atmosphere is inviting and almost lounge-y. The wait staff is very friendly and very helpful. The usual patrons are equally friendly and easygoing. Plus, Butlers has a good selection of cigars, which is unique in Amarillo. This is certainly a pleasant diversion from Bodegas and Burberry's. It's worth checking out at least once. read more

What an almost perfect "happy hour bar." A pleasant atmosphere where you can meet friends, and enjoy $2 beers, at happy hour. Three beers and a nice tip, all for less that $10. Now that is a price that makes happy hour something that I can easily afford several nights each week. The only serious draw back is that the place is relatively small and they allow people to smoke inside. But when you are paying 1/3 of what the rest of the downtown bars charge, you learn to adapt. This is my favorite bar to go downtown (it's always the busiest and just a fun place to be.) if you're looking for a place to bring friends they have a great outside area. Great drinks, a little pricey but the bar tenders are always friendly and helpful. The music can sometimes vibe harshly against the upscale atmosphere (Loud DJ on a weeknight made drinks with friends less fun), but overall it's one of my favorite stops for cocktails or date night drinks.
