I initially scheduled an appointment, cancelled it about an hour before the appointment, then called and rescheduled for the same time about 15 minutes before the already cancelled appointment. I wanted to like this vet clinic and did for years, but every visit felt more focused on upselling than actual care. It seemed like there was always another test, treatment, or add-on being pushed, even for routine appointments. I understand recommendations are part of veterinary care, but the constant pressure made the experience uncomfortable and expensive. Overall, I wouldn't personally recommend Buttercup Veterinary Hospital based on my experience. We've raised German Shepherds for years, so we're very familiar with the breed and common skin and allergy issues. My son's GSD is currently visiting, and I stopped by Buttercup Veterinary Hospital simply trying to purchase more of the medicated shampoo they had previously recommended for itchy skin. I was denied because my own GSD, who was a patient there and was ultimately put down at their clinic, had passed away, so I was told I was no longer considered a current patient. Losing my dog was heartbreaking, and the interaction felt cold and unnecessarily transactional. Unfortunately, that experience reinforced my overall feeling that this clinic focuses more on upselling appointments and services. Our 10 year old cat developed a severe itching condition around his head and neck, and was scratching himself raw. My first thought was to get him off of chicken so was feeding him lamb and rabbit (he didn't care for and it didn't help). The clinic docs we were taking him to for numerous visits over the span of many months tried several medications, including steroid medications and shots which brought on a bad respiratory infection and a severe eye infection. But we were told it was not food-related and referred to a feline dermatologist. Instead, we switched to Buttercup Veterinary Hospital and saw Dr. Jensen. She examined him, immediately said it was food-related, and prescribed a hydrolyzed protein food. It's been 3 weeks and he is doing amazingly well! His sores are healed up and his fur is back! She also found a heart irregularity and is addressing that also. read more

Both vets I've worked with, Dr Moore and Dr Corcoran, have shown compassion, concern and competence while being mindful of my financial limitations. I have one dog battling two issues and both doctors have spent an inordinate amount of time considering and researching his diagnoses and then gently explaining (and re-explaining) the suggested plan of care. I appreciate them very much and would highly recommend both doctors to anyone with a new pet or anyone who is looking to make a change. We just finished with an appointment with Dr. Schmidt and staff for our wonderful dog Frankie. Unfortunately we are going to have to have a follow-up with an orthopedic doctor for our dog's knee but Dr. Schmidt did a very thorough evaluation, took x-rays and answered all of our questions as well as giving us a good path forward to get Frankie's knee fixed. Kristen, the vet tech, was also amazing and very compassionate towards Frankie, who was very nervous at first but by the end was Kristen's best friend. FANTASTIC CLINIC! I just had a perfect first visit with Dr. Corcoran and her staff from start to finish. I had a bad and confusing experience at another office and came here for a second opinion. The office was thorough and efficient and had great communication. I checked in curbside and a vet tech met me at my car and escorted me into a treatment room. I didn't have to wait very long for the doctor to come. They recommended X-rays and told me the cost beforehand. Dr. Corcoran even pulled up my dog's X-rays to show me her findings which I appreciated very much. My dog checked out mostly healthy which was a relief. The receptionist came to the room to checked me out at the end. As a healthcare worker, I appreciate that they are taking Covid precautions seriously. I love BVH! We took our previous pup there almost her whole life before she passed naturally and now we take our new baby that we rescued from APA shelter there and they are absolutely amazing with her. She is a special case as her anxiety and fear always make it very difficult get her through the door let alone able to be seen without me in the room. They give us good medicine for her and handle her with the most TLC I could ask for. The way they work with us and the pup is truly priceless! Thanks to the whole staff at BVH! I have been a client at Buttercup for the last eight years but I am now looking for a new vet. For the most part, I had been moderately satisfied but a recent experience has caused me to reconsider. The Office Manager was so rude to me that I was shocked. They made an error in billing me and when I called in to point it out, instead of just looking on their computer where the error was obvious, she insisted that I sent a photo of the bill to get a refund. What? They don't keep records of their bills? Eventually, I had to drive over to show them the bill. She treated me as if I was trying to rip them off. It was utterly offensive. At no point did she say, I'm sorry, we really messed up". Now I don't feel like returning as the whole experience clearly showed that customer service is not their goal and left me feeling insulted and unappreciated as a customer. P.S. They also charge $35 for a nail trim for each dog- which is absurd. read more

My oldest KC wasn't feeling up to par. He kept scratching his ears fiercely and crying. So I booked him an appointment and began my search for his collar & leash. Yes, I have a cat carrier but last time my Houdini used his claws and unzipped the case. So I had a cat loose in the car. Not an easy job getting him back in the carrier. I have been using BCAH for 15 years, first with my dogs and now with the cats. They are conviently close but their doctors change as frequently as the weather here in Texas. So going in I have no idea who will be the Vet this time. I lucked out, this one likes cats. Oh, I am jumping ahead. Short wait after I sign in. I am in the room no more than three minutes when in walks the Vet. Fast. She starts cooing how cute he is. KC knows how to play the women so he goes to her and cuddles with her. Great, now I will have to spend the rest of the day with his large ego. She gets on with checking him out. She takes him in the back room to give him his rabies shot. Tells me he has ear mites, and explains the medicine. We are done in 15 minutes. I have never been in and out so fast. The last Vet to check him out, well, let's just say they didn't like each other. He was hissing at her and she was muzzling him. So even tho, it was a short visit it wasn't cheap, almost 300. read more

I have a problem child, Barlo the Bad Egg. The one time hubby and I strayed off the our course of only having smart, reliable, friendly golden retrievers was cause I saw Barlo on the TV (Pet of the Week!) and had to rescue him from the pound. He's been a handful ever since (8 years) and I tell him weekly I'd take him back to jail if he weren't so damn cute. Anyway, not only does he have health issues (he's got a glandular problem) but he's also super dog aggressive. Been in jail for that too. And as much as that's been a huge problem, it does seem to have its benefits at the animal hospital. He gets rock star attention when we go....no waiting in the lobby where the other patients are...nope, they will quickly usher us into a room, sometimes refereeing the other animals aside, and always with a smile and a compliment to him that he's such a good dog. Now, I don't have kids, but I would imagine any parent would feel relief that their problem child is still loved and well cared for despite his, uh, foibles (and the scary cage muzzle). I have been bringing all my pets here for around 15 years and yes, I have seen a multitude of vets. That's the only drawback is that I never know who we will see and therefore never really feel a connection with any single doctor. But all the rest of the staff has always been courteous, professional and, as stated, understanding and patient. And fortunately for me they are only about a mile from my house. So, I can walk my giant dogs there instead of cramming them in my V_lv_. Convenient and compassionate. And they love my Bad Egg. I will miss them when we move. read more

I highly recommend this clinic! They have been so amazing to me regarding my dog Bailey. Dr. Pittman and the rest of the staff was wonderful though a very difficult thing we had to do, put our 12 yr old Black Lab/Border Collie down. It was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do in my life, and they were so caring and compassionate through the process. I've been going to Buttercup Creek Animal Hospital for 7 years now. We just came from there today after taking our pit bull for his yearly checkup. The staff is wonderful, they treat my dog like he's the only one coming to see them. I've had nothing but top notch service at a very reasonable price, even in an emergency. The vet tech, Julie, who has been there for a long time, always greets us with a smiling face, and treats our DK like he is her own. Dr. Corcoran, has always been, and will always be our vet of choice. She is phenomenal with all animals I have seen her with, and loves them like her own. She makes sure that she takes all the time necessary for a very thorough examination. Her attention to detail is unmatched. As we left there today, I couldn't help but remark how I feel like they treat me more special than anyone else. I leave there feeling like I'm their #1 customer. Dr. Pittman is a star! She and all of the staff here at Buttercup have been wonderful these past four months. Our German Shepherd went into acute kidney failure in early April and Dr. Pittman was instrumental in getting our girl the care she desperately needed to stay alive. Between Dr. Pittman and Heart of Texas in Round Rock, our girl is healthy and on the road to a permanent recovery. In addition to just being a great vet hospital they also do boarding and grooming, which comes in handy. Got our girl groomed yesterday because she was *finally* shedding her winter coat (they don't call them German "Shedders" for nothin'!) and she looks wonderful! I'm pretty sure they took about five pounds of fur off her plus she got a bath and her nails trimmed...and they dressed her in an adorable bandana I can't bear myself to take off! I'm bummed I'll soon be moving from Cedar Park to Round Rock but I will keep returning to Buttercup because they are just that good! read more

MARY PAIGE CORCORAN-SILVESTRE killed my beautiful dog, part of my family. (At that time she was Mary Paige Muehlegger.) She not only didn't care at all, she hid the records when I tried to retrieve them to sue the clinic. After two years, when the statute of limitations has expired, the records magically returned. She insisted my dog needed a surgery to remove her spleen for a tumor but NEVER imaged the spleen. After my dog died the Emergency Clinic told me there was not a single tumor in her spleen and she should never have had the surgery. Mary Paige rushed the "job" to get home to her son for a Thanksgiving trip. She never tested my dog for anything, if she had (I was told) she would have known that my dog's life would very likely end from it. My dog bled out in front of my eyes from DIC. When I called Mary Paige in the evening telling her she was spewing blood all over my living room and I think she is dying, Mary Paige told me I was "overreacting" and not to call her again until threw next week. I threw my baby (dog) into the and ran to the Emergency Clinic where I watched her die in the gruesome, painful death imaginable as she whimpered in fear and pain. Mary Paige is a murderer. Plain and simple. And then she covered her tracks until she couldn't be sued anymore. She saw me in a store once and acted as if nothing happened. She has no conscience at all! They have removed my review once, but I will keep replacing it. I have known Mary Paige for many years. She took over the vet clinic from the man who started it, who was my vet before he moved. He helped hide the records and instructed the staff to put me off. AVOID this clinic at ALL COST. read more

Our dogs have been coming here since we moved to Cedar Park 4 1/2 years ago. They also board here when we're out of town. We would trust no one else with our dogs than this staff. The care so much and take the time to really get to know the animals that it helps so much when you have to take them in for anything. The vets, technicians and groomers have always been professional and caring. We are not treated as mere customers and our pets have not been treated as just patients. The staff and vets have shown great compassion when things aren't looking well for one of our animal companions. I don't always get that from my own doctors. Sometimes it may seem like a lot of money but as a certified bargain hunter I know their pricing is pretty average for this type of office. read more

We've been coming to Buttercup creek Vet for Almost 16 years... all I can say is they've been there with compassion and care for all of our Furbabies... at the worst of times when our beloved Basset hound couldn't walk, Dr. Pittman was so loving, very intune with our Nortons pain and how to help him. They called to check on him after appts. Advised of various options and fees. We put our trust 100% in Dr. Pittman, and she was Our Nortons primary vet through out his life. She preformed loving care, surgery and gave us hope. Our Norton would bark and bay the entire time he was out the Vets, and let's say he was always the loudest barker. We always felt bad for the way he carried on with the barking, Dr. Pittman always laughed when he carried on. When he got sicker as he got older she'd sit with him and me in the floor and pet him and discuss our options. I would trust no one for my fur babies but Dr. Pittman and Buttercup Creek Vet.. everyone their cares for you and your babies. The best practice around. When our Norton passed always suddenly on a late night, when the staff at Buttercup creek found out, they all signed and sent a condolence card with the funniest memories of our Norts, it meant the world to our family and I still have it. She also treated our beloved Chihuahua Ake who had seizures and made him the best he could be. After a year of no furbabies, I finally bought a new puppy Dougal. The only Vet practice I trust and put my faith in is Dr. Pittman and the staff at Buttercup creek Vet. I was dog sitting for a couple and they asked me to take their two dogs in to get their nails clipped and pick up medication. These dogs visit this location once a month. The people know them and they KNOW the dogs temperament. The youngest dog gets really excited. She kept barking/whining/crying, etc. I successfully quieted her down a couple of times. The last time, they asked me to take her outside. It's a vet office! Not a library! If someone was on the phone, I can understand asking me to leave, but no. Just seems like they were annoyed. After taking my dog here for the second time for the same issue I am told not to worry about it its not a big deal and that they dont know whats wrong with her. Really i just paid you over 150.00$$ and your response to me is dont worry about it. This is my dog/kid and you could care less until it comes time for me to pay?? I called last week because my dog has been losing weight at a rapid rate and need a her tested for diabetes. The crappy receptionist cuts my off mid sentence and says well we cant see her because she is not vaccinated. I give them the name of the location and she is to date on ALL her vaccinations. As i begin speaking again on how I need a price quote and bringing her in, again, the receptionist comes back on the line as says "Sorry I cant help until i call and confirm her vaccinations considering you did not have them done here". So you wont talk to your clients with sick dogs. I dont understand how you hold phone records can actually say you care about pets and their wellbeing when i just experienced a receptionist who refused to even give me a price quote. Thank you i will take my loved pet some where where she is actually considered as a person rather than just a piece of crap and they refuse to talk to me because I had her vaccinations some where else. read more

We adopted a new puppy a week before Christmas, and he was (still is) quite small, being a Chihuahua mix. We brought him here for his shots and check-up, and have been back for follow-up shots. The Dr. was wonderful, and spent time with our whole family (including our two kids), advising on do's & dont's for raising a new puppy. They know him by name and always follow-up on him. I just took my beautiful 7 year old healthy min pin dog to Buttercup Hospital in Cedar Park TX, to get his teeth cleaned this morning (July 11,2018) ; I paid for all the preop exams including an EKG which apparently did not register anything bad prior to the op.... they just notified me that my dog died in the middle of the procedure for no apparent reason? to add insult to injury when I got there I am notified that they are trying CPR on him but if I want to continue it will be extra charge....at that moment I realize they don't care about what they caused to my dog but to get their money. not only did I loose my dog for something that wasn't necessary but was recommended by their vet. This is so unethical, shows a complete lack of empathy and I feel so guilty about it for choosing their service and following their recommendations....Rest in peace my dear Caleb.... Beware people of clinics that give you such good lip service, send you kind email reminders and birthdays to lure you into thinking they really care for your pet and not the bottom line...my dog was the happiest dog this morning and I feel guilty for basically scheduling an unnecessary murder session because the vet suggested it. read more

I've been going here for 8 years and am very pleased. The staff is very nice and vets seem quite knowledgable. I've seen all kinds of animals go in there and they are sincere when they work with them and understand how much people care about their pets. Once we had a misunderstanding about bloodwork (I told them no when I made the appointment, but they accidentally asked my husband again when he dropped the dog off and he said yes.)
