Finally got to try the local Gelato spot! I'm not sure what their hours are, but they were actually open when I drove by. The small was $5 and a decent size ice cream. Looks like they change their flavors every so often so I will probably come again another day to try something different. The Gelato isn't like how I am used to from Italy; however, it is nice to try different out of the ordinary flavors that you would find in the store. The creamiest gelato with unique flavors! I got the vanilla gelato and it was the best vanilla flavor I've ever had! I was skeptical at first because why would I choose vanilla over all the other unique flavors but when I tried the sample, I was immediately convinced! The man who helped us with our samples and getting our scoops gave us fun facts about the gelato flavors. For the vanilla, he told me that there were three types of vanilla used! As for the ambiance, the shop is cutely decorated with the standout being their ice cream art in the window. There isn't seating inside but there are a row of chairs outside the shop which makes it the perfect spot to wind down or people watch. 10/10 would come here again. read more

The owner was so kind and patience when I brought my whole family to try their homemade gelato. We were able to try some samples and honestly everything tasted really good. Everything is made fresh daily, and their flavors are unique! I've already been here at least three times now and I will keep coming back. We decided to come here on a Saturday evening after dinner. I happened to noticed this new gelato place some time ago because I wanted to see where else offers Gelato. Small gelateria in the small town of Rio vista. Before walking in, the window display of the cones is nice addition to the gelateria ambiance to the shop there is no seating inside the shop but there are benches outside and multiple benches through the downtown area. The Employee at the time was great and answered all our questions and allowed us to try samples. Majority of the samples that I've tried tasted fresh from natural ingredients. Minimal to no artificial flavor / taste which is a plus. Instead of the deep dish hotel pan typical fashion, Gelato was kept cover in a stainless-steel container with a lid. Flavors I ended up getting the Belle of the bayau "a Southern-style buttered pecan praline" and the Peaches & Herb "Basil Gelato with peach swirl. Both were really good separately. I think together in the same cup it was hard to enjoy because the BOTB flavor overpowered the P&H. The Vanilla and snow white were really good flavors. Not sure if there was a bathroom. Verdict Highly recommend & I definitely will be back! This seems like a Gem for this area. read more

This is a new spot in downtown Rio Vista just off Main Street and across from Hap's Taps with delicious gelato. All their flavors sounded wonderful, including the several dairy-free options. I enjoyed the Elphaba marketed as 'A wicked-good sour apple and caramel gelato'. It tasted just like those caramel apple pops that were all the craze awhile ago. The gelato is a nice light green color and had swirls of caramel in it. They offer pints to-go, only of the daily flavors (i.e. not pre-packed pints). We went on Labor Day after checking their Facebook page to confirm they would be open since they are not normally open on Monday. Could use a sandwich board sign on the street to draw in more customers since they are new. We loved the ice cream cone decorations in the window too. Can't wait to come back again! read more

I went to Butteri on a whim while visiting a friend in Rio Vista- it's a hidden gem! i had the dairy-free matcha tea and pistachio ice cream- i like those flavors and it was delicious! so good that we went back the next day I had the yummy Grey ice cream, which is actually a deep coffee...rich flavor and neither choice was to sweet. the flavor selection is distinctive and thoughtful- I'm definitely going back! the owners are also super nice. family shop, and immaculate. read more

Watch for seasonal changes as Roxanne flexes her artistic might. Her offerings are creamy, cold and delicious. We had the Choconut which we will be back for again and again.
