I'm giving two stars even though I was so excited to come here and wanted to give them all the stars from what I've seen driving past and from their website because I love supporting locally owned businesses. I hadn't checked Yelp beforehand or else I would have reconsidered going here. The husband and I were there literally 2 hours ago and we're still feeling the disappointment. It was more than apparent the girl behind the counter was wholeheartedly uninterested in helping us. Her curt answers dampened our cheerful and eager mood from seeing so many enticing treats in such a perky and cutesie shop. So one star is for the appearance of the shop and the other is for the selection available. The husband was going to share a bite or two of my cupcake because there were no slices of cake available and he had had his heart set on that. He did ask but was given a short reply doused with heavy annoyance so he didn't pursue the topic. Then he got very excited when he spotted a German chocolate cupcake so he asked for that and a hazelnut macaron while I got myself a crème brûlée cupcake and a raspberry macaron. We sat in the store to enjoy our treats. The husband went up to the counter and loitered there for quite some time looking for some plastic forks/spoons. There were a couple of girls behind the counter but no-one took notice of him, you know - the husband is not a small dude, lol ... (I think the owner sat at the table in the corner near the window next to me conducting an interview for a new shop assistant so she had her back to the whole scene). There were plenty of paper napkins on the counter and the tables, though, just no plastic cutlery. I would have asked for the forks from the girls but I think the husband had had enough of their less than accommodating attitude and wished to have no further interactions with anyone. The macarons were okay. Chewy and sweet, and that was about it. I didn't really taste much raspberry in mine or hazelnut in the other one. My cupcake was okay. It was moist and full of vanilla flavour and sweet. The frosting was also just okay, lots of sweetness although I liked the brûlée aspect of it. Now, the husband who has a huge appetite for anything sweet took a bite of his cupcake and said, "You know, my favourite is the frosting on German chocolate cakes, it's what makes the cake, but this is just bad." He didn't finish the rest of his treat and just left it on the table to make a statement and he's not normally this surly :( Had the service been welcoming and helpful we might not be this bothered about our experience today. read more

Went here for a coffee and cupcakes. Cupcake tasted sweet and the icing was not waxy. So I'll give them 2 stars for that. But I will not be back due to poor customer service. Girl with sort of curlyish hair was very rude and kept asking "anything else" louder and louder over me as I tried to tell her what I wanted. I ordered one shot of espresso which she had to tell me was not enough multiple times and with her finger kept saying "it's only this much" before she poured it I switched to a cappuccino since apparently the coffee shop does not approve of espresso shots. Amazing!!! I called all sorts of grocery stores, bakeries, etc. trying to find a place that would make red velvet cupcakes. The place with the word "cupcake" in the name wanted NINETY ONE DOLLARS for 24 cupcakes Then, I found Buttersweet. $15 bucks later - with zero drama about needing months of notice - I had a dozen red velvets that got rave reviews from everyone! Stopped in after school to a sweet treat. I have passed this many times and thought Friday was a good day to try it! It is a large place with lots of sweet options. They had a small cookie case with different options including iced sugar, snickerdoodle among others. The iced sugar was ok...wouldn't get it again. The snickerdoodle was wonderful! It had just the right amount of sugar and cinnamon coating it on the outside, the middle was so soft and fresh! I almost didn't order one, it looked overdone, but glad we did! I would stop in for these again. The ice cream case had many options, and also had dipped cones for the ice cream. They said they were a low on cupcakes. Must have had a lot of people wanting a Friday treat! They individually packaged cinnamon rolls and brookies looked good...something to try on another visit. Bittersweet is a cupcake store with lots of other baked goodies, gelato, and custom cakes. Where they knock it out of the park is in their cupcake of the day. They always have really good cupcake of the day flavors, like chocolate cheesecake and paradise pie. Their regular, cupcakes that they make every day are just ok, nothing mind blowing. I wonder why they don't mix up the cupcakes and have some of their special cupcakes as daily cupcakes. I haven't tried the gelato yet, but I've tried some of their other goodies. The doozies are my favorite thing to order, especially the snickerdoodle ones. I don't like the cake parfaits, which is basically cake in a cup. So yes this is a little trendy cake hangout. They have a little lounge to spread out to enjoy your sweet desserts. Lots of display counters to choose your yummy goodness. I'm surprised by all the selections. Staff is very friendly. I joked to my husband that it was like a clown car at the circus, staff members kept just coming out of the back room to help customers as they walked it. I do like ButterSweet don't get me wrong, I just think sometimes I come in and maybe the oven was a little too hot or they were overdone a little bit too much but it's often enough that I notice it and it's not just here and there. I come in often because they are the only cupcake place around but also because they do have some really good items. They have a loyalty program too which is great. First, their cupcakes are pretty good. The icing is usually great and very smooth and relatively fluffy but half the time the cupcake part can be a little toasty on the top and too dry for my liking. Sometimes my wrapper sticks to my cupcakes outter part and sometimes it crumbles too much. I wouldn't say the cake is very moist. Now, they have tons of other stuff too like their ice cream is AMAZING and creamy. They have really good cookies and I am obsessed with their no bake cookies but they don't always have their no bakes available. I just went in today to get a treat for the family and I got a cupcake parfait thing. I was super excited as I had never tried one and I would say I was rather disappointed . My cupcake part was like dust. The icing was great as usual but as I started getting more into the cake part it was so dry it was like it had been minced or something or just set out too long and dried up. I bought something at ButterSweet Cupcakes in Yukon, and when I came out, their delivery truck was parked behind my car, blocking me in. I told the driver he had blocked me in. He responded by mocking me and replied "I don't give a s**t." I told him what a poor attitude that was and he became hostile, hurling profane insults at me including the "F" word multiple times. I am a disabled senior, and this frightened me terribly as he tossed around heavy tools and boxes with ease. I felt as if I was in danger of being attacked violently without being able to defend myself. The event had me upset for over a week. I would never bring my grandchildren near that place nor go near there myself again. Never knowing when that man will return, or if there are other employees with a similar temperament, I don't feel it is worth the risk. read more

I'm a red velvet guy so that's my go to flava and it is divine. I really like their mini's but I usually take some frosting off for a higher cake ratio (don't want to get the diabetes). A quick look at their website reveals they also do full size cakes... wedding and events. Check out that beer barrel grooms cake! I like that they have mini cupcakes so when I can't decide what I want, I can eat more than one and not feel so guilty. The salted caramel and crème brulee are some of my favorites, but the lemon is the best ever! The quality and flavor is inconsistent though. Some days it's really good, but other times the cupcakes are dry with little flavor and tastes like it came from a box and the icing is weird and bland. on those bad days. I can't believe it's taken me this long to review Buttersweet! The first time was a few years ago, a sweet and thoughtful patient brought us a variety pack of minis and I fell madly in love. I've since had their cupcakes/ treats probably 20+ times at various events/showers/ etc and I've never been disappointed. You know how sometimes you chow down on a crappy cupcake and then you're mad you wasted all those calories on something dry or flavorless? This doesn't happen with Buttersweet. I think I've had all the flavors and liked them all, but I'd say Creme Brulee is my favorite. I'm usually a chocolate-is-the-only-flavor-that-truly-matters kinda girl, but that Creme Brulee is magical. They do a cupcake happy hour before closing with some sort of discount. I've been coming here for years and really enjoyed the cake by the slices and cupcakes. However, the last several times I've been to the Yukon store, the cake by the slice is the driest piece of cake I've ever had. They pride themselves on made fresh everyday, and that is not the case with the cake slices. Do not recommend. read more
