Very rude people working the counter. It's like I was a burden when I came to rent a trailer. I picked up the trailer at close on Saturday and returned it Tuesday morning. Instead of charging me for Sunday and Monday like I figured they charged me an extra day for part of Saturday (after 5pm) and Tuesday (8-10am). So 3 days and we're very rude when I questioned it. Never will do business here again and I wouldn't recommend it. Go to rental max down the street. read more

Now, I don't have much clout over in these parts, but I will say that of all my Yelp Dukedoms, this one is by far my most valued reign. ... and yes, it is because its name has the word 'Butt' in it... Is that so wrong?! I can't help that I'm a natural born ass-man. Anyway, my daytime job (which is also my nighttime, weekend, morning job) requires me to sometimes seek out equipment beyond my natural-born devices. Equipment including and such as, but not limited to a backhoe, animal traps, helium tanks, chainsaws, a bull horn walkie talkies, a pitchfork and, well... that's about everything I need to do my job... besides the yelpstick, but that should go without saying. So, I'm giving them 5 stars, but with an asterisk because it's a bitch to try and get in and out of this place. With virtually no parking lot from all the massive farm equipment and trailer rentals and certainly no room to back out without having to reverse blindly into insane Ogden traffic... But now that I've got that out of the way, this place is pretty sweet, and the cheapest most reliable place (still pissed at you, Party City) to get helium in the amounts that I need it. Also, the guy I rented the tank from and returned the tank to looked a lot like Vern from the Ernest movies. And he was very clear about not doing something with the tank, of course, I'm not exactly sure what that was because I was only partially listening, but I did catch the tail end of his spiel and it involved the tank exploding, or maybe it was the building or my car or something like that. Either way, I appreciated his concern. And he showed me some of the other cool outdoor lighting stuff they have available for rent for some possible future fun soirees and gave me some neat ideas for my next rental excursion. Also, I only rented the tank for one day, but on my way to return it, a guy rear-ended me and I missed their super early end-of-day hours (5pm?, C'mon, what about us working stiffs?) by 4 freakin' minutes. So I ended up having to return the tank a day late and they still only charged me for the one AND on top of that, one of the friendly grease-monkey men saw me semi-struggling to get the empty, but still very heavy, tank out of my car and came over to help and carried the whole thing back inside for me. And on the way in, the guys were joking about losing their invite to my party... service with a smile. ... and next time, they're invited.... but only if I can get a sweet deal on those giant puffer lamps ;) You guys can swing that, right? ;) PS- Butt-rey. hehe... it's like a ray that comes out of your butt. Try to rent the hvlp sprayer to spray my doors.After they charge me $300 deposit brought the 15 years old sprayer which costs $200.Asking $75 a day to rent.No spray tips selection .What a joke company read more

These guys are amazing. I've been there 3 times with projects I needed help on and they always had the tools to make it work and make it easy. Most recently, i needed to change a light fixture in a foyer with a 17' ceiling. The estimate from an electrician was $450... probably not unreasonable but more than I wanted to pay. After walking in and explaining what I was trying to do, they fixed me up with a platform lift that rolled right through my front door. Perfect... finished at less than half of the cost. If you have a project that you dont have the tools for this should be your first stop! read more

I've rented scaffolding from this establishment years ago and were very pleased with them then, so I wasn't surprised that I'd have a similar experience when renting from them this week. I have all kinds of extension ladders, but sometimes it just doesn't make sense to buy an extra large one since, after all, how many times would you use it? So with this in mind, I rented a 40' aluminum ladder yesterday to reach a couple of third story peaks of a house I'm working on. I called first, they said they had three available and If I wanted to, I could use their online service to make a reservation (that's new to me!). Having no time for that, I simply stopped in and picked it up. Their staff is very helpful and took the time to explain a hydraulic lift I'd asked about in every detail. I doubt I'm going to need it, but if I do, I know where I'm going to rent it from! Nothing at all bad to say, so it's 5 stars all the way! read more

There aren't many businesses willing to talk themselves out of a sale, but Buttrey just did. I wanted to put a tow hitch on my car so i could use a cargo rack and they checked what was available for my make and model. Joshua (the Buttrey guy) told me it was a bad idea and explained exactly why. How cool is that? I've always had good experiences with them with my annual soil tiller rental too. (AND I HAVE NO IDEA WHY YELP CLAIMS I LIVE IN San Francisco - i can walk to Buttrey) read more

If you are a Stihl chainsaw user.... don't bother. They say the are a dealer, oh, and I'll bet they'd love to sell you a chainsaw..... But don't bother expecting them to service or repair it. TWO WEEKS MINIMUM, lol, seriously I believe they are sending it off to China to have the repairs made and shipped back to Westmont. A joke of course. I used to buy supplies here, but no more.... they don't give a bleep about customer service, I'll never spend another penny at this joint. I am also going to share my experience with Stihl Corporate, so they can hear what typical customers think of someone they think is worthy of being a Stihl dealer. read more

Rented a power assist dolly that failed and fell scratching my wooden stair case pretty badly. The staff and their insurance people would not take any responsibility for the failure of the dolly. Over all bad equipment, no customer service skills and we are left with damage to repair. I would rent elsewhere!!! read more

Extremely helpful staff...they get you in and out in no time and have every piece of equipment you could ever need for all those DIY projects. We were putting in an electric dog fence and needed a cable puller/trencher. They were great with instruction and helped get it in the truck. Worked like a charm. Brought it back a couple minutes past the daily rate but I didn't even have to ask...they just gave me the partial day rate. Thanks guys for a great experience! read more

Not a good experience. Dropped of a simple shredder blade to be sharpened on a Monday. Was told it would be done by Friday. Thought that was a little long just to sharpen a blade, but ok. Called Friday and asked if it was done. Was told it would be done by the end of the day Friday. Called Saturday morning asking if it was done. Still wasn't done. Was told it would be done by the end of the day....no offer of an apology that it wasn't done when promised and I had to ask for my refund...I might try again one day, but not too sure at this point. read more

Bought a Stihl trimmer during lunch today. Staff was really helpful. Wish I could remember the Stihl certified mechanic's name (Chris maybe) but he was awesome. Didn't hesitate to show me everything I needed to know to get started even though he was on his lunch break. The sales rep was very thorough too...welcomed me to come back later to run through the machine since I was on my lunch break. Wasn't necessary but I appreciate that kind of awareness. I know there were some mixed reviews about Buttrey but I won't hesitate to come back. read more

Always helpful; the staff is friendly and accommodating. Perhaps it's because I used to come here with my handy dad 'back in the day'... This place just plain feels good -- solid and dependable. Love that they've been around for decades and decades... Also, that they never fail to help load anything & everything (even just gallon size containers) into my car. Five stars! I bought a Stihl electric string trimmer from Buttrey today. I had done some research on line about the product. But the additional help and information I received from the friendly crew increased my comfort level about the trimmer and was above and beyond the call of duty! By the time I left the store they had instructed me about the key features of the machine, made sure I knew how to replace the string, and even registered the product with Stihl.
