My only coffee shop in Athens. Fun staff, great coffee. Classic ambiance. One barista always friendly, the other surly. I'm an early bird, so I'm usually there when they open. It's a spot for night owls also, I hear they have bands. I really like that they have an enormous map of the world on one wall. The decor is classic coffee shop chic, retro and eclectic. Spacious too. It's in a neighborhood, so it's perfect for me to walk over on a Saturday or Sunday morning. read more

I went to Buvez hoping to try the BBL (banana bread latte). They were out of the syrup unfortunately, but the barista said the Duce de leche with cinnamon on top was probably the next closest thing. Buvez never fails to brighten my day, not least because nine times out of ten you end up sitting outside in the scorching sun. Jokes aside (the outside is genuinely nice though-- see pics) Buvez really is a quality coffee shop. Their location right next to the railway track and the way it was constructed around a repurposed warehouse adds a lot to the aesthetic. The baristas are, well, quintessential baristas. It's evident they all enjoy the job, and almost everything I've ordered has come out tasting great. A few of them can make some pretty killer latte art as well. Their "shtick," if you will, are their snowcones. They're not featured on the menu (it has its own miniature menu off to the side) but they're genuinely really good. My boyfriend and I enjoyed ours a lot, and their presentation is great as well. I normally make a point to visit Buvez whenever I'm back in Athens. If you're looking for a local coffee shop to chill with friends or chat about the latest Athenian news I'd highly recommend. read more

Buvez has a very artsy vibe. Some of the seating options include a porch swing and vintage couches. They have a chalkboard and some random games and comics. They also have a big patio. Unfortunately, neither the mocha nor the chai was very good. read more

Buvez is a really solid spot for morning coffee located a bit of a trek from downtown. Located in a newish business development, we stopped in for weekend morning coffee. Her iced coffee was nice, and my almond milk latte was delicious. Her bagel was fresh, chewy, and surprisingly authentic for Athens, whereas my Provençal sandwich- with Kalamata olives, goat cheese, and fresh vegetables on the tastiest French baguette- was absolutely delicious and a great value. While the service was a little scattered, I couldn't knock them due to the crowd and the quality of the food and drinks that they offered. I was also impressed by the look of this spot's nighttime cocktail menu, and would come back for an evening tipple. Overall, a great spot for a drink anytime of day. read more

The only complaint I have that is a continuous issue when I visit is the low number of outlets around the place. I would really suggest they add more power sources. If you're looking for an instragram-worthy cafe, this place is it. I ordered boiled egg open sandwich with golden milk (almond milk w tumeric, cinnamon, other spices). It was pretty bland but good quality. Total came out to be $10 w tip and I think that's a good price for a quick lunch/snack while working or studying at a cafe. They have a small menu but put in effort to make it satisfying for whatever you're looking for: coffee, tea, sandwiches, snacks, wine, or beer. Interesting hangout place. Eclectic decor. Small menu. We had a Provençal vegetarian sandwich with tomato, olive tapenade, basil and goat cheese on baguette. The other choice was a prociutto fig jam sandwich. The wine was really decent and overall, we enjoyed it.. just please toast that bread to where I don't have to worry about losing a tooth pulling a bite out of my baguette sandwich (and I do have healthy strong chomped too:-) read more

I've never been spoken to the way the counter employee (the sole male on duty, don't know his name) just spoke to me. When I asked him a perfectly reasonable question--"Do food orders come out on this end of the counter or on the other end?"--and repeated it when I thought he misunderstood, he treated me with such immediate condescension and contempt, I thought he had to be joking. He was actually--inexplicably--serious, down to the fleck of spittle foaming at the corner of his snarl. His co-worker was clearly embarrassed by his disproportionate snit; perhaps he throws tantrums at his co-workers as well as at Bain Mattox's customers. His immediate crank-it-to-eleven can't be explained simply by his parents failing to teach him basic manners (although that's part of it) or his running out of Cool Mint Zyns mid-shift, this man is clearly too emotional and high strung to be customer facing. Everyone, esp. those in food service, is entitled to a bad day but if you're having a full-on Jesus-year existential crisis, have a little dignity and stay at home until you muster the self-regulation to control your hissy fits. Missing his split of my occasional tips at Buvez won't affect this fragile diva's bottom line but suffering with a hyper-reactive hairpin temper is no way for him to go through life, both for his own sake and for those forced to be around him. Super cute vibes! They had lots of outdoor seating since their dining room is still closed. The dirty chai was $5 and I got it with almond milk. It was my first time trying a dirty chai and I really enjoyed it! My friend got the bagel sandwich which had prosciutto, cheese, tomato, & arugula - absolutely delicious!! I was excited to visit here as I've never been and it looked great from the pictures and menu. However, I won't be back due to the fact that as soon I stepped in the door I was immediately greeted not by a "hello" but with a "do you have a mask?" When I responded with: "no, do you have one I can use," I was also told no and having no other choice, took my business elsewhere. A more polite greeting wood have gone a long way, but I doubt I'll be back as the staff seemed more set on their mandate than my business. read more

This was a great place! It's super chill and has nice vibes. I ordered a golden milk and The Business which is a sandwich. Both were very tasty. My bill came out to be $13 with tip, so it is quite expensive for a meal. The drinks vary in terms of price, but you could find something if you didn't want to spend a lot of money. The service was also great. I was given many reccomendations and chatted with the people there for a bit. Overall, it was a great experience. I was primarily there to study, so it was good for that. A coffee shop fanatic's dream, quietly tucked away behind another hidden gem, Lotta Mae Supply, sandwiched between Barber Street and the rail corridor. The space is well designed & beautifully lit, complete with skylights, live foliage, and clean, modern furnishings. There's a small selection of locally sourced sandwiches, Comerian pastries, snacks, etc. While I did not try the boozy sno balls, the photos on Instagram are impressive, to say the least. House made sodas, teas, specialty coffee drinks, etc. adorn a menu that is also complimented with an alcohol selection, including craft cocktails. What's more, there is an upscale kids corner with books, blocks, toys, and a chalkboard to keep the little ones occupied while you handle your business. Not a feature generally found at a coffee shop. There is plenty of space to spread out, from small tables to large pub-style settings designed for larger groups. Couches, smaller seating nooks, and even a porch swing can be found in the larger rear seating area. Or, sit at the bar and strike up a convo with the friendly, knowledgeable, local-loving staff. I searched for tea while at the restore thrift. Directly across the street, this place came up. Super friendly staff! Also most importantly to me, non-coffee options! Another reviewer mentioned golden milk (thank you!). It's made with Califia farms barista almond milk. It's light on the turmeric, heavy on the spicy ginger and pepper - delish! Great for dairy free and caffeine free folkx and alike! Eta: it really was a little too spicy after I had several sips. Might want to dial that back a little or offer a customizable spice level? Cute little coffee shop outside of the craziness of downtown however a bit out of the way (since there are a lot of places walking distance from UGA). I will definitely do to a coffee shop that commands me to drink (Buvez, imperative second person pours form of boire "to drink" in French). The shop itself is a bit small, but it was empty when I went in the morning. The staff were really friendly and my drink was made in less than five minutes. My guess is that it could get more crowded as the day goes on. They have pastries as well as lunch, however I haven't tried he food. They have a lot of espresso drinks. It was pretty good, however it seems a bit out of the way (especially for someone who doesn't have a car). read more

I would say get there early if you want to work on school, etc. The place is big but if enough students are there, the wall outlets are taken. Been coming here for a few years now and although they have great seating and is a cool place, I always feel judged and unwanted by all of the workers here. They are unfriendly and standoffish. Okay folks, hear me out: People go to coffee shops for two things: the coffee menu and the atmosphere of the shop. Right? Buvez does a great job on both (for the most part - see below!). The GOOD: * My latte was excellent and the vanilla+almond flavoring was delicious. We also ordered a sandwich, which was equally delicious and unique. The iced coffee I got a couple hours later was also refreshing and well made. * The shop itself is also pretty cool--very Athenian. Great aesthetic, great decor, great floor plan. Lots of space inside, with some good tables/seating for hanging out, reading, working, whatever. There's also a cool outside space with picnic tables. So, space-wise the place is a gem. Loved the vibe. * The baristas treated us kindly and seemed pretty competent (although the latte art was average). * The prices are what you should expect for buying high-quality, professionally crafted coffee and espresso drinks. The BAD: * Buvez has this annoying policy I've never seen in any other coffeeshop, anywhere. On the weekends, they shut off their WiFi (so you can't use it), and post signs asking you to NOT study or work in their space.....yes, seriously. * The idea (I think) behind the policy is that they're trying to encourage you to "take a break from the grind and just hang out," which I guess I get philosophically. But in practicality, I felt literally like I might get in trouble for pulling out my laptop and knocking out some reading for grad school....That's a dumb and very unwanted feeling to have in a place I dropped about $20 on for different food/drink items along with the generous tips I made sure to leave. * In the long run, the baristas didn't treat me any differently and half the other customers were also clearly studying/working. So, it seems like the employees don't actually enforce the policy. But the policy's mere presence is enough to make someone feel uncomfortable inside their shop on the weekends. * If you're a Buvez employee and reading this, please know: I get the heart behind this policy (maybe), but it's just not feasible or helpful to your shop. A coffee shop should not make a person feel embarrassed for doing the one thing everyone does in a coffee shop: read and knock out work/studying. I literally felt nervous the first 15 minutes I was there because of this insanely dumb policy. * That one thing, for me, was enough of a hang-up to give them 4 instead of 5 stars. So, in general (that weird policy aside): very much would recommend Buvez to anyone who wants great coffee and a great space to spend time in! read more

I am a plain latte drinker. No flavor just milk and espresso. This latte was one of the best that I have tasted. The two employees were extremely nice and helpful. Customer service is just as important as the product being provided. I cannot wait to visit to try out the snow cones. read more
