I went on Buzz's tour in 2008 and had an AMAZING time! I went with 5 of my girlfriends as graduation presents from our parents. Two years prior to my departure, my older brother had gone on Buzz's tour solo and HIGHLY recommended the trip to my friends and I. The BEST things about Buzz's Tour are (in no particular order) 1. Travel by TRAIN!!! As a young adult, traveling by train is a GREAT experience and the most EFFICIENT. "Backpacking" with a tour guide =) 2. All Lodging is in PRIME location!!! Lodging was clean and as a female always felt safe when walking around during the day or at night. 3. FREEDOM and FLEXIBILITY of the tour. Buzz allows you to explore what you wish even if that means you would like to leave the group for the day to do your own thing. I never felt obligated to see/do/eat anything I didn't want to. I also NEVER felt rushed! 4. EXPLORE the cities by WALKING!!! By walking through the city streets you will see and experience 10x more than you would if you were on a city bus tour! and your pictures will be way better! What. A. Nightmare. After reviewing the marketing materials for this tour company, and speaking to the owner/tour guide on my college campus, I was fooled into thinking that this was the kind of tour I was looking for. I could not have been more wrong. David Bussing (a.k.a. Buzz) only seems interested in recreating a high school dynamic in his tour group where he's the big man on campus. Although everyone on my tour was in the early to late 20's, there was a LOT of high school type drama. I realize that some drama is to be expected from a group of young adults traveling together for a length of time, but Buzz openly encouraged and facilitated the childish behavior making it much worse than it should have been. Furthermore, Buzz openly admitted to me that he had absolutely no interest in art, history, or culture. Why on earth is he leading a tour in Europe?! He knew little to nothing about what we were looking at --it was mostly photo ops simply to show that we had been there. He hands out little paper booklets with a vague description about each destination, and he responded "read your booklet" when asked for more information about a site. When we visited the pantheon in Rome, I had absolutely no idea what I was looking at. I hadn't seen a picture of it in years, all the signs were in Italian, and all Buzz would say was "didn't you guys read your booklets?" The immaturity, drama, and lack of information were bad enough, but the final nail in the Adventure Tours coffin.... he's not a food person! Ah, shoot me now. I love good food, was visiting countries known for their cuisine, and I was stuck with him. He didn't leave enough time in the agenda for sit-down meals. It was mostly grab-fast-food-and-go the entire time. When we did stop at a real restaurant, it was substandard American food geared at tourists. Who eats at a place called The Yellow Bar in the middle of Florence? I mean, really. I had a couple good meals because my tour group actually mutinied a couple times, ditched Buzz, and went out for a decent meal. I would advise you to avoid this Buzz's Adventure Tours at all costs. I traveled with Buzz's 2015 tour #2 tour we went to 9 country's 21 cities and I can honestly say I had the time of my life. * From the beginning the first phone call to David "Buzz's" it was nice to speak to some one with such great passion for travel and not just a sales man he took the time to answer all my questions and was very patient and full of information. * He provides you with a pre trip meeting and all the tools you need to prepare for your trip he gives you a packing check list, list of maps, challenge list for every place you will visit he pretty much gives you all the tools you need to make sure you have the time of your life the rest is up to the traveler. * when I booked he had two different packages to choose from with different prices check his website or call him for more info I went with my girlfriend and we chose the more expensive package and boy was it worth the extra money. * You travel like the local people not like a full on tourist you will take the train , subway , bus and even cable cars just remember to mind the gap and mind your bags --- you will understand these terms later if you book this trip. * He Has professional guides helping him and he even had a photographer on our trip Devin , Fannie and Cassie were just awesome and David the main Guide was just the best with him leading the group you cant possibly be in better hands. he doesn't just guide you from place to place he gives you the tools to venture off on your own and survive. * Your lodging is in the center of the action if you stay in Paris you are in Paris not close to it for example during our trip the Hotel we staid at was literally 2 blocks away from the Eifel Tower and all of the Hotels were spectacular and in a great location's. * With this tour they provide you with the opportunity to take part in all types of guided activities you can choose to participate in them or venture off and explore on your own this in my opinion is great because in a lot of tours you pretty much get stuck in a Bus doing things you may not have any interest in. But here with Buzz's you have plenty of daytime activities to do and Night life activities to choose from and most importantly there is always someone available to answer any questions or guide you / point you in the right direction. Being that this was my first trip to Europe I am glad I went with Buzz's not only do you get the best value for your Money but David "Buzz's" number one goal is for you to have the time of your life. Buzz adventure tour's is an absolutely phenomenal travel company. Going to Europe with all of my best friends for 3 weeks was definitely the best trip of my entire life! I went on Buzzs tour more than 6 months ago and I still talk about it on a day to day basis. I couldnt imagine myself on a more perfect tour that was organized so professionally. The tour guide Buzz was such a sweet man that was very passionate for his job. Of course he is human and has his moments (YOU try dealing with 70 wild raging 18 year olds in Europe) but he is a great man who takes you to places you want to see. I traveled with Buzz back in 2006 for the full 26-day tour and I had the best time of my life to date. Besides coming away with an amazing experience, I now have two close friendships to thank Buzz for. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this tour (I have many times already) or to tour with Buzz again in the future. My recommendation for anyone thinking about going on this tour is to 1)GO and 2) Listen to Buzz, he knows what he's talking about. How many times are you in Europe? Do the optional activities too. The trip is designed to be flexible, so take advantage. If your not into doing what he has planned for the day, go out and adventure then come back and meet up with the group. I did this a few times for a half day, or so. You will rarely want to do this, if at all, because what Buzz has scheduled is so fun. After finishing up Tour #2 of Buzz's Adventure Tours, I would like to say that this has been one of the greatest adventures I have been on. The tour started in London then onto Paris, Cannes(day visits to Monaco and Monte Carlo), Cinque Terre, Florence, Interlaken, Munich, and ended in Amsterdam. Throughout the trip I was able to learn so much history, try new food, and meet and befriend so many people. The founder of the company, David Bussing organized this trip perfectly. He also brought along his sister Janice Bussing who is someone I am really grateful for. After a few days in I felt a little homesick and started to get some anxiety. I told Janice about my problem and she was able to talk to me and make me feel very comfortable. Also, David brings along a few tour guides. I would like to give a big thanks to Sophie Lantz, Sophie Welles, and Bailey Laughlin for also making my experience very special. They were easy to talk to and accommodating, especially with rooming situations. I took one of Buzz's tours years ago...I actually feel bad that I haven't reviewed sooner as I had such an amazing experience! I took one of the summer tours of 2004, but I still remember the spectacular experience that I had! I have since been back to Europe 3 times, and I still think that I had the most fun on Buzz's tour. His tour allowed enough structure to feel safe and secure and yet offered enough freedom to explore and get a feel for traveling in a more independent way. I knew that it was an amazing experience, but I didn't really realize how great Buzz's trip was until I decided to take a trip the following year with a different company. I was so disappointed with the other trip that it really made me appreciate how wonderful and unique Buzz's tours are! On Buzz's tour we always took the train with often some amazing views and unique opportunities to meet people. We had tickets ready and in hand, with directions for transfers in case anything happened. On the "other" tour we took a horrible bus that seemed to take forever to get anywhere, and never had any good views. On Buzz's tour we stayed in great locations in each city or village, always walking distance from all the great sights and nightlife. On the "other" tour we often stayed outside of the city (even though I called ahead and they assured me we would be local, or have free transportation to city center or nightlife areas). When we requested to have transportation from our hotels to the city centers, our awful guide told us that it would be an extra cost, and that we would have to charter a bus for the group! On Buzz's tour we were able to go wherever he offered for a meal, or a nightly outing, or we could decide to go elsewhere. Being a foodie myself, I often opted to get my own food with a friend, but the places Buzz chose were always awesome as well. We got to go to some wonderful out of the way spots that the locals love, and ALWAYS had an amazing time! On the "other" tour we were only allowed to go to the restaurants already selected by our guide, and could only select 2 things off the menu! The guide was obviously friends with the workers at each restaurant and seemed like he may be taking kick-backs for bringing in the clientele. The restaurants were always dead, and the food was always bad. As for nightlife, the guide would only allow us to go to his preselected night clubs on a chartered bus, and I had to literally argue with him for an entire day that my friends and I would be going elsewhere for our nightly outing. When I finally got my way it turns out that my group of friends had a much better time than the group he took to the club. On Buzz's tour we had basic itineraries for each day to go along with, but he had no problem with us opting to go elsewhere. **I absolutely loved this option because it gave so much freedom, and I can't stand feeling like a sheep being herded from place to place with no idea where I am. Buzz gave us packets with maps, and basic words and phrases in each language. It also included translations for items you would regularly see on menus and information about each destination! These were so invaluable that I have saved them to this day! On the "other" tour we could not venture on our own, and had to move everywhere as a pack. I even got in trouble the first night for lingering too long to take pictures of a statue and was given a lecture about how I couldn't wander at all as it is easy to get lost in the city. P.S. I had been to that same city the year before with Buzz and had no problem getting around with the map he provided. I've since traveled Europe on my own, separate from any tour group, and I don't think I would have had the confidence to do so if it wasn't for the wonderful experience that I had with Buzz's tour! I can officially compare now, and Buzz's tours are THE BEST, hands down! Having read the comments here, it looks like the only bad ones are from people who have never traveled with another company, so they can't really compare. If Buzz did more tours to other places, I would take one in a heartbeat! I love traveling, and the planning is fun, but it is exhausting, and always expensive! With Buzz's tours you get all of the worry of planning and guessing for the best places to stay or to go see taken out of it. There is not enough space here to write all the wonderful things about this tour! I went on the tour when I graduated high school and three times as a guide, and people love to hear about my amazing experiences. He pushed me to do things I had never even considered, like bungee jumping, hangliding AND paragliding in the Swiss Alps or paddleboarding in Nice. Buzz is so passionate about traveling, and his passion is contagious. He is extremely knowledgeable about the different places we visit, and takes a lot of time and effort preparing sheets of information on each location that he make available to each student. He is a wealth of tips and tricks for travelers, and I apply his tips to every trip I take. For meals, Buzz pretty much leaves us to our own devices for dinners, but can recommend good restaurants for us to try. For lunches when we are out touring, he will take us to a popular area and lets us pick up food from wherever we want. I LOVE food, and I felt like I got authentic recommendations and delicious meals. Buzz is extremely protective of the students on the trip, and is constantly reminding the kids to watch their things and to always be alert. Safety is a priority that he stresses to his guides. Travelling with buzz inspired me in so many ways, and to this day I value travelling above all else. Hotels were awesome and walking distance to all the sites. I especially loved the hotel in Paris near the Eiffel Tower. 3. Loved the wake-up calls to get us motivated each morning. 4. Cinque Terre was an amazing place to stay and experience Italy! 5. The trip was very organized and we had free maps of all the cities with the hotel highlighted and trip booklets with photos, historical information and great tips on each city. 6. Loved the fact that on FREE days, the guides still ran FREE tours and activities so that you are never bored. I'm writing this review about 10 years late.... What can I say, I've been busy. Buzz's European Adventure tour changed my life. I went on Buss's tour when I was 19 and then again as a helper a few years later. Buzz's tour gave me the confidence to travel the world and meet new people all by myself and ultimately led me to studying abroad in Florence Italy. I would not have felt comfortable doing this without everything I learned from Buzz about life and traveling on the trip. When I went, I was the youngest in our group, just out of high school and found myself mostly with college kids. It was an amazing experience. On the group that I helped out on, it was mostly kids just out of high school who all knew each other. Let me just say, when I went, I didn't know anyone on my trip and I had a blast. If you can't find someone to go with you, DO NOT let that stop you from the experience of a lifetime. In fact, I'd suggest going alone or maybe with one other person. Just don't let anyone hold you back! You will never forget it I promise. You will see so much in a short period of time! Be sure if there is a place you'd like to spend a little more time at for yourself than the time allotted for the group, let Buzz know and he will tell you exactly what to do to stay longer and how to meet back up with the group at a later point in time. For example, I was there during the World Cup when it was being held in Germany. We happened to be in Munich during the Germany vs Sweden game and Germany won. The energy in the city was indescribable. Buzz suggested we just stay up all night and take in all the sights and sounds and take a later train to our next destination which we did and it was so amazing. Without the guidance of Buzz, I wouldn't have known what to do and would have missed out on such a great experience. You can really make this trip whatever you want it to be. Buzz has a ton of knowledge about traveling and if you listen to what he says you'll learn so much and feel like you can travel anywhere in the world. Buzz keeps an eye out for everyone but remember, you are an adult and need to take responsibility for yourself and your actions. Be respectful of the local population as well as morning call times so you don't miss out on anything. The best piece of advice I can give is to take the longest trip you can manage, you won't regret it. Don't be scared to go alone. You will make lifetime memories on this trip. Buzz is amazing at getting you to engage with the local population and you'll have an amazing time meeting people from all over the world. I just got back from Buzz's tour in 2013 and I have to tell you that this is absolutely the trip of a lifetime. I met Buzz at the study abroad fair during my sophomore year at Cal State Long Beach and I thought that this would make a perfect graduation present for myself. I was a little nervous at first because I would be going with new people that I had never met, but that's what made it so exciting. I studied history in school and this was the perfect opportunity to see and experience the many things that I learned about in school. Also, this trip is highly affordable and you get the most for your money. All of your hotels are right smack in the middle of the cities and everything you want to see is so close to you. The one thing about Buzz is that he completely hooks you up on this trip. If you think about it, he has been doing these trips for quite some time now. So, he knows all the short cuts in these large cities and all the best restaurants everywhere. This was the best food that I had ever had. Buzz is also a friendly guy who will be glad to show you around himself. He will give you many little facts about certain places and the booklets that he has for you are a great read about each city. However, the main thing that you must do on this tour is LISTEN TO BUZZ. If you do, you will have the time of your life. Do not talk when he's talking or you will miss important information. If he says pack light, do it. If he says to bring a money belt to protect yourself from pickpocketers, do it. He knows about all of the tricks that people in Europe attempt to use on American tourists. LISTEN TO BUZZ and he will show you how to avoid them and have the best time possible. One more thing, do not let lazy friends keep you from enjoying yourself in Europe. Do not break down from peer pressure. If you want to go to a museum, go and enjoy it. You have tons of free time on this trip so make the most of it. Who knows when you will be back there again? I highly recommend Buzz's European Adventure Tours to anyone out there looking for a one of a kind vacation. I definitely got everything I was looking for and more. If you see people give Buzz a bad review, it is most likely because they did not listen to him on the trip. On his packet of information before the trip, there is a ton of info that may seem like a lot, but it will keep you safe, alert, and give you the best time you can have.
