We got in touch with Captain Sean to help celebrate my girlfriend's 30th and had a fantastic time! We set sail in the morning to the Channel Islands, then kayaked through sea caves, snorkeled in the kelp forests, hung out with the seals, and chilled on the boat with a some drinks, sandwiches, potato salad, and cake. We just finished unpacking from a wonderful 4 days in the Channel Islands with Captain Sean. Our family of 4 adults were very comfortable on the Good Wife. The weather was foggy sometimes but that meant the fishing was better. And Sean was super flexible- when the sun came out, we went snorkeling where we were at the time and adjusted our itinerary to make the most of the weather. What a great trip!! When my wife and I decided to get out of town for a sailing weekend, we originally looked at the BVI's. And while that is fantastic destination, we wanted a trip in October, which was still during the Caribbean Hurricane season. Instead we focused on the West Coast and found great reviews for Channel Islands Charter. And I'm happy to report the reviews are spot on. Captain Sean is a great sailor and a great host. He's personable, funny and laid back but nothing is left to chance. We sailed with him on The Good Wife and she's a killer boat. Well kept and very comfortable - both up top and down below - and she's great in light or heavy winds. We sailed each day for 2.5 days as the winds permitted and explored the Channel Islands in between. Kayaking, hiking and fishing along with great breakfast, lunch, dinner and plenty of snacks. Prior to the trip Captain Sean answered all the questions I could muster and was in touch a few weeks beforehand to ensure that he understood what we wanted to do and what our dietary wants and needs were. We had such a great experience with Sean and Riley on their boat, the Good Wife! I had booked the sailboat charter from Oxnard to the Channel Islands for a special birthday celebration for my wife. It was just the two of us plus Sean and Riley. They were spectacular and took such good care of us. They are very professional, yet very easy to talk to. We saw so many seals, seal lions and fish. Once we anchored, Sean took us out to explore some sea caves in kayaks. Then, Riley took us to see the arch, light house and Sea Lion Colony. All the food was prepared based on our requests and was delicious. I can't say enough good things about these guys. A group of my friends went out sailing w/ Sean (who, btw, is an awesome captain) on Memorial Day. We all had an ecstatic time! Sean's boat was pretty spacious, w/ four rooms, a bathroom, kitchenette, and two sitting areas. He made sure to go over the safety precautions before taking off, and then we headed out to this island, where some of us kayaked and others went for a swim. Even though the ocean wasn't too calm that day (there was a lot of wind), Sean was able to perfectly control the boat. We got to experience a little bit of everything that day -- some fun, some adventure, and some serenity. It was a beautiful day by all means. We went sailing last week with the awesome Captain Sean, he was extremely friendly, very experienced, and very informative. We went to Anacapa island, which is about an hour away from the harbor. Sean did the best he could to make sure that we had the perfect sailing trip experience, he even asked us to take Dramamine before sailing, and boy was that tip handy! The Good Wife (which is the name of the boat) was very spacious with 4 private suites below deck that could be combined into 2 large suites, 2 bathrooms, and a lovely seating area. On deck there's a lovely seating area for up to 10~12 people. Captain Sean provided us with fishing rods, snorkeling masks and fins, wet suits, kayaks, and everything you could ever think of! The weather was perfect that day we anchored in Frenchy's Cove - swam, snorkeled, hiked, kayaked, saw sea lions, took amazing pictures of the island and all it's caves, and had a lovely picnic. It was perfect! We'll definitely be sailing again with Captain Sean. Santa Cruz, here we come! :) read more

We went sailing last week with Captain Mark out of Marina del Rey and had an absolutely amazing time! The weather was perfect, the boat was gorgeous and Mark was the best! Our family of four recently traveled to the Los Angeles area for the first time and wanted to experience some of California's natural wonder and beauty beyond the city. Since we live nowhere near an ocean, we contacted Channel Island Charters because we were looking for something to do on the water. Upon leaving a message online, I was promptly contacted by Captain Sean Quine to discuss scheduling and chartering options (e.g., boat selection, full or half-day, activities, etc.). No pressure whatsoever. A few days prior to our scheduled charter, Captain Sean contacted us to get our food and beverage selections, provide tips for how to dress (the weather required layers that day), and understand what activities we decided to do. We sailed for a full day on "The Good Wife" from Oxnard to Anacapa Island, where we anchored offshore and had lunch, dropped kayaks in the water, explored along the shoreline of the island, and paddled into a couple of caves. We experienced sea lions, seas, dolphins, and fish along the way...the water around the island was crystal clear! We also kayaked to a small beach and explored part of the island. Having no previous sailing experience, the one thing I liked was how relaxing the overall day was. We didn't lift a finger for anything. We ate breakfast upon boarding, lunch later, and snacks along the way. We were very well fed and comfortable all day! I highly recommend Channel Island Charters to anyone wanting to spend a relaxing day on the water, see tons of bird and marine wildlife, and witness an abundance of natural beauty...all while being completely unplugged. To celebrate my husbands 60th, we chartered "Good Wife" with Captain Sean Quine and his mate Russ. Amazing day! The sail boat is gorgeous with plenty of room for lounging around. Captain Sean is easy to talk to and very, very knowledgeable. He took us out to Anacapa Island, where we kayaked and snorkeled. When we got back on the boat, he had delicious sandwiches and snacks waiting. We were lucky enough to get to return to the harbor completely under sail. Me and 3 friends went out for the weekend with Captain Sean to the Channel Islands. It was absolutely amazing! We saw a huge pod of dolphins (100 or so) on the way out to the islands and a leopard shark swimming on the surface. Anchored in one of the coves on the backside of the island. Later we landed our dingy on the beach, (our own private beach!), upon which we met a wild boar who desperately wanted our lunch. The cabins are great but I opted to sleep on deck in a hammock, like Gilligan. We tried our hand at spearfishing while snorkeling as well. Sean was obviously a very experienced sailor and a really down to earth guy too. Was probably the best experience of my life! In a few months we will charter with Sean again, we are going to go to a cave on the islands that you can actually go deep into in the dingy by flashlight. Talk about adventure, I had no idea it could be had just off shore in CA! read more
