Set your expectations before you go. It's a neighborhood place (rather small if compared to Brazilian chain places) but intimate and wonderful because you speak to the chef. Not a server, but the chef. He cooks the meat to your specs if possible. My wife orders "black and blue" at places like Flemings, so it's really rare. He delivers. The also are one of the few places in LA that cooks over charcoal so you get the real outdoor flavor with the meat. There is a place in Ktown that cooks over wood at your table that imparts a very unique and wonderful flavor. I like that they do that here with charcoal as well. The difference you might notice at home cooking on natural gas vs. charcoal. When done right, charcoal wins! I appreciate that the salad bar is stocked with many organic vegetables. Probably seasonal, but I do appreciate the effort. I'm only disappointed in the breads. As mentioned in another post, the hot dishes at the salad bar don't seem to be refreshed often enough. I came here for a retirement luncheon. They are a small venue offering some tasty Brazilian churasco. They have a small side dish buffet. The meat selection is not as extensive as the large Brazilian restaurant chain. The servers were very friendly and accommodating. They had great coffee as well. Looking for a new Brazilian Steakhouse, we took a friend up on his recommendation and decided to check out By Brazil in Torrance. I probably should of look at the photos of the building and sign before arrived so I know what to look for. But I didn't and after three laps around the block we finally found the place. The staff was very friendly and offered up recommendations since it was our first time visiting. The food was fresh and delicious. For the price I paid (just over $50!!) coming here on a weekend, there wasn't much from the meat they served that tasted overly salted. I preferred their salad bar better than the meat they had ready to carve in front of you. The only meat that I actually liked were the sausages that only came around once. I'm not a big fan of buffet style eating ( they had some sides, like garlic bread, olives and fixing for salad) and I'm also not big on beef, but I went with a group of friends and figured it'd be fun to try. It's rare that I go to places like this. The first couple of bites of the picanha were delicious, but after that, most of what I tried tasted either too fatty or kind of bland. There were no sauces or extra seasoning options, which made it feel pretty one-note. I'm pretty certain I have tried all of their meats available by now. As usual, everything was very good. This time I got to try some of the non-beef offerings. I got the polish sausage, Italian sausage, pork rib and chicken. All of these were also very good. Service was friendly and attentive (kept my water glass fulll). There was another staff member who constantly refilled the self service items. The grill master was on point and friendly. I also enjoyed their tuna salad and potato salad. My brother had recommended By Brazil so we decided to check it out for our anniversary. They only serve lunch on weekdays and since we went on a Sunday we went for dinner, shortly after they opened at 4PM. Street parking only but because we went early we found a spot very close to the restaurant, and no time limits on Sundays either. The interior was cozy with both outdoor and indoor seating, and we opted for indoor because it was hot outside. There was only one other party when we arrived so despite only one gaucho, meats came very quickly. The restaurant filled up more as our meal progressed. There was a large variety of meats cooked in small batches, and the only meat repeated without request was picanha. Everything was very tasty, both the meats and the salad bar + hot food bar. I loved that they had beef stroganoff (although missing the crispy potato sticks topping) and plantains instead of banana. Pão de queijo was self-serve at the hot food area and good as always. I tried cashew fruit juice asy drink which was really unique! Service was friendly and dinner was ~$45/person + tax as of August 2024, not bad. The meal concluded with roasted pineapple and complimentary coffee. Overall, I was missing polenta and wished the pickled onions were more sour (or that there was vinegar available), but otherwise was content. I would definitely return for the price and variety, even if the salad bar and interior is not as fancy as the chains like Fogo de Chão. read more

Came in on a Wednesday around 650. Was sat immediately. Immediately had my drink order taken and started on the salad bar. Typical salads, nothing hugely fancy but the staples were there and they were great! Black beans, rice, cheese bread, garlic bread, and beef stroganoff, which was surprising and surprisingly really delicious. Then we sat back down, drinks already waiting and here comes the meat! It was relentless!!! In a deliciously amazing way. All of the typical meats you'd get anywhere else. All so very delicious. 10/10 will go back again especially since I live 5 minutes away! I definitely am getting the meat sweats tonight if you know what I mean. And then to polish it off, the chef has this cinnamon sugar glazed grilled pineapple. What finisher! The place is very quaint and warm with a very nice bar up front. I do wish though more Brazilian steak houses offer lamb, liver, and chicken hearts. But there's my preference . We came here because our normal place closed. The food is fantastic, great flavor, and juicy. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming, and the service was better than expected! I know that sounds odd, but when we came in for our reservation the restaurant was dealing with a Birthday party, graduation party, and a large group....this team pulled it out and I was still feed really well and pretty fast considering. This is a wonderful place if you like to eat leather. I had always wanted to go here because my husband said it was great at lunchtime, but we had a guest and we decided to treat them for dinner. When I called and asked the price they told me it was $36 so for $36 I wasn't going to complain. However, the buffet itself was tiny and weak.. The bread was stale. There was only two families there counting us. The best meat was un chewable. Had I known that the person on the phone was incorrect and it was $46 I would've complained.. It is the last place on earth I would ever go again and then only if it was free because most of it was inedible. Oh and asking for napkins they're so cheap.
