Andre's Restaurant is inside of the Doubletree by Hilton Torrance - South at near Village Del Amo. The restaurant is under construction so seating was in the bar area which has access and a view of the pool. There are some tables on the patio and plenty of comfortable seats in the bar. The decor seems to have a retro Hollywood feel to it. Nice and cozy but not overly bright but just right. If I remember correctly, they said the beer and wine selection are a bit limited (possibly because of the current construction). They have a good selection of menu items to select from despite the current construction. Steve was friendly, attentive and as helpful as possible. We tried the fettuccine spicy tomato Italian sausage and pizza con salmone affumicato. Both dishes were nice, not too spicy pasta plus a flavorful smoked salmon with a crispy crust. Was a little rude with the manager when we arrived, because I did find the restaurant empty at 7:30 pm. But we decided to give a try: luckily because : My wife had the best rib eye in many many years, and I never ate pappardelle as delicious. Folks arrived, but stayed at the bar. We had a platter of hummus and feta, the best appetizer ever. Janice had a salad, and I had a chocolate ice cream dessert... we lived an evening to dream of. We are coming back next week to Torrance, and definitely it will be our favorite restaurant. Chapeau, this new direction and new chef are going to make lots of folks happy. read more

Wanted few Easter drinks. I decided to come here. I haven't been here in awhile, so I said, "why not go to Andre's" I didn't regret it one bit. My bartender Jacob greeted me with a warm smile. A buddy of mine picked this place off Yelp and decided to give it a shot. Andre's Restaurant is located inside the Double Tree Hilton towards the back. We were just standing there at the front waiting for a server to come get us. Then a server in the back starts yelling nicely to us, "Go Ahead! Pick any seat!" LOL. The interior is pretty chill, it does have the fancier vibes. They do have a jukebox where you can control via an app. There's also an outside seating area with a fireplace. My buddy got the Angus Burger with Seasoned Fries ($20) and Butterfly Margarita ($8 Happy Hour must purchase applicable food) and he enjoyed it. I got the Fettuccine Alfredo with Shrimp add-on ($10 add-on for shrimp which is ridiculously overpriced lol) Pasta was good, although a bit of priced imo. We have come here for the past two years for the Thanksgiving Buffet. It is really delicious, with a huge variety of traditional Thanksgiving foods, plus seafood, a breakfast buffet and other meats like prime rib, ham and chicken. The dessert bar is also delicious. I was happy to see that Andre's Restaurant was located right in the DoubleTree Hilton in Torrance. Even though the restaurant was closed due to renovations, they adapted and had spaces in the lounge for people to eat. My first night the service was excellent. I ordered the South Bay Salad and it was very delicious. For me, there was way too much dressing but that's because I don't typically use dressing. Other than that it was good. I ordered the Salmon Tacos and overall they were good. The sauce was packed with flavor, loved it. The problem was I could not taste the salmon, not at all. The black beans dominated the taco and I felt disappointed because I love salmon. The Pomegranate Mojito was the star of my evening. It was extremely flavorful and packed with alcohol. I'm glad I wasn't driving. The next morning I ordered room service. The service was fast and the French Toast was delicious. What made me angry was that the hotel online menu said a small pot of coffee was $8, but the restaurant charged me $10. I told the server and she told me she would ask about it. When I didn't hear back I called the restaurant. The host told me that the hotel menu was wrong and the cost was $10. I could've made a fuss and demanded the menu price, but I chose not to. It was raining that day, I was tired and didn't feel like being bothered. It was very poor customer service on their part. They needed to honor the price on the hotel menu, but they didn't. I can't say I won't go back there if I'm ever in Torrance. But if I'm ever mischarged again I will demand they honor what the menu says. read more

Let me begin my review by saying the service was amazing. Everyone was attentive and helpful. We went for Sunday Champagne Brunch. I wanted to try it out before inviting our kids and their families for my husband's birthday later in the month. The cost is 55.00 per person. I expect amazing food as well as service for that price, but the buffet was disappointing. It wasn't very big and some of the food was barely warm. There should have been more selections. The roast beef was excellent, the cold shrimps fresh and tasty, and they were the only exceptional items. The rest of the items we tried were just "fine". We were there early, seated at a nice table with a lovely view of the pool. I don't think we will return. It is sad that old school Sunday Brunch Buffets are no longer done properly. read more

Torrance Food Crawl #336 Andre's is located in the Torrance DoubleTree by Hilton hotel (as it's currently branded). While there are some casual eating options in the hotel, Andre's is the more formal restaurant option. It's normally only open for breakfast and lunch - there is a dinner service but only in the form of "in room dining" if you're staying at the hotel. (I've been here in the evenings when a special event was booked, but those would not be normal restaurant experiences.) I've been at this restaurant several times over the last few decades, starting with it's Holiday Inn incarnation. In the past the dining experience was about what you would expect from a restaurant catering to people living a transient lifestyle. I started with the soup of the day, a Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup. The soup contained a lot of chicken. It was not overly salty, something I find much too often. The soup tasted like a classic chicken noodle soup which is a good thing. Rather than try a standard item from the menu I chose the daily special, Bavettine Pasta, which was described as sautéed fresh garlic, smoked salmon, fresh arugula, sun-dried tomatoes, served over tricolor fettuccine pasta. The tomatoes came off a little on the strong side, perhaps a fewer number would have been better. The salmon was good but struggled in taste with the tomatoes and arugula. I learned about arugula some years ago and its possible health benefits so when I see it in a dish I react positively to its presence. This arugula was fresh but a little on the stringy side (I had to fish some of it out from between my teeth). The pasta tasted fresh though any appearance of its tri-color aspect was sort of lost in the dish. Overall very good. This week when I visited the restaurant around 1pm it was almost empty, just a few tables occupied. Service was very good (kudos to Servando). I was pleasantly surprised to see that my Hilton HHonors wifi account automatically came up on my smartphone even though I haven't stayed at a Hilton hotel in several years. (Trivia: before I retired I was spending as much as 200 days/year on the road so I'm very accustomed to living on the road.) Unfortunately, the wifi signal had very limited bandwidth making it practically unusable while I was in the restaurant. read more

I attended a conference recently at the Torrance Doubletree Hotel and the lunch for the conference was held at Andre's Restaurant. The restaurant was opened only to conference attendees. The restaurant prepared a delicious buffet for us. The buffet consisted of a salad bar, a taco bar and a pasta bar. The salad bar had a good variety that included caesar salad, pasta salad and spinach salad. The taco bar had fresh salsa, guacamole, sour cream, tender strips of chicken, fresh tortillas, rice and beans. The pasta bar consisted of marinara style and cream based pasta. In addition to these savory foods, they had a yummy treat for us all with their desserts. Every kinda cake imaginable was put out there for us. They had carrot cake, tiramisu, chocolate cake, white raspberry and more! For drinks, they offered fresh iced tea. I tried a little bit of everything and found it all to be very good. I liked the taco bar more than the pasta bar simply because the pasta was just pasta. There were topping and so it was a bit plain, i actually took some chicken from the taco bar and mixed it in with my pasta. The cakes were soft and a good little treat. I went for Sunday brunch today and I was quite surprised at the service given. This is my 3rd time here and after having a bad experience the 2nd time around, Joel B., reached out to me and invited me back to the restaurant. The service was impeccable and Joel B. really took care of us. Our first visit was great and now are third visit was also great. I fully expect to come here again and I am glad the service was once again great. The food here is served in a ayce buffet style. However, don't let that fool you into thinking this will be the typical subpar buffet food. The food is quite good, at or above good chain restaurant food. Now I'm not saying you're getting Michelin star cuisine, but I am saying you are getting your money's worth in both food and service. Some of things I really like included the roast beef at the carving station, the cocktail shrimp, omelette bar, salmon in a cream sauce, and the cookies. The roast beef is cooked very well, though I suggesting asking for an edge piece (since it is the part that was seasoned) or accepting the fact that a middle piece will not have been seasoned but will still be cooked perfectly and will be easily fixed with some salt and pepper at your table. The salmon is cooked very nicely and is not dry at all, a common problem with buffet-type food, and the sauce is creamy with hint of lemon. The cocktail shrimp are plump and juicy, yet cold which makes it a cocktail shrimp. I love cocktail shrimp and these are very flavorful though I do wish the cocktail sauce available was a bit more zesty, but a splash of lemon fixes that. They have baked goods like danishes, bagels, croissants, and cookies. I love the cookies, which remind me of Costco cookies that are freshly baked (yes, I love Costco cookies). We graciously offered some ice cream, a serving of pistachio flavored and a serving of mango flavored, and they were both amazing. I am not sure if this is a part of the normal brunch but I'm sure you could order it with an additional charge, it is very very good and given the texture, I am sure they make it in their kitchen. Some additional things to note. The Sunday brunch includes mimosas/sparkling wine and some live music. It is in a hotel (DoubleTree by Hilton) on the first floor to the right of the bar. Parking is free, at least I think it is, I've never paid for it. It can be busy and they seem to take reservations. It is a little over $30 per person and reminds me of the old The Proud Bird brunch, with less options but better quality food. I would recommend it and its worth a 30 minute drive if you're not in the South Bay. read more

I recently moved, It's taken an unusually long amount of time to set up our new apartment, My wife and I had to resort to delivery as well as dining at local restaurants. Because Andre's (and the Doubletree Hotel) is within a three minute walk, it almost immediately came to my attention. Because we live so close by, ordering take-out from Andre's seems as convenient as room service in terms of speed and freshness. We've also eaten in their downstairs restaurant after hours. In the half-dozen or so times we've had their food, we've never been disappointed. Our first meal was hamburgers. Andre's makes a really good hamburger. Our main objection is that we avoid french fries in preference to a vegetable salad. Andre's only offers french fries, fruit salad, and potato chips to go with their burger. We've ordered the fruit salad, but don't always eat or finish it. We've resorted to complementing our burgers with their very good Caprese salad, a full meal, to share between us. Recently, we decided to splurge by ordering both a steak and a salmon entree. It felt like a fine dining experience at home. However, the portions were so large that we easily could have sufficed with one entree split between the two of us. I was surprised to see that a recent reviewer panned their Margarita pizza. I lived in New York City most of my life, near Little Italy in Manhattan as well as traditional Italian neighborhoods (Bensonhurst and Carroll Gardens/South Brooklyn) in Brooklyn, and I appreciate good pizza. Most pizza in the L.A. area is drowning in cheese, has little tomato flavor, and has mushy dough. In contrast, the pizza coming from Andre's kitchen competes with some of the best pizza in L.A. It has a strong tomato flavor and a crispy crust. I could easily see us ordering their pizza on a regular basis. I've also had their fish tacos and look forward to breakfast with Andre's. We compliment each meal with their chocolate cake. We did have one problem with their take-out service. One day we ordered a late dinner and it never arrived. When I called Andre's, I was told that they didn't receive the order. It turned out that their computer was off-line. We had to scramble to find another restaurant which would deliver at that hour. From 11:00 to 2pm, (i think it's both saturday and sunday, but call to double check), inside the DOUBLE TREE HILTON, the Andres restaurant puts out a very decent BRUNCH BUFFET for $23.00 a person. (less for seniors and children) They had a great Omelette bar, which also did Waffles and Pasta at the same station. There is only one guy, so this line takes awhile. Loved my omelette!!! There's one carving station- two meats- was kind of dry tho. Breakfast foods- eggs, potatoes, BACON, sausage, bagels, bread rolls, pastries french toast (although they use some wheat bread- i prefer white). More Lunchy stuff- salmon steaks, rice pilaf, veggies, beef stir fry, noodles Small Salad bar- ceasar, greens, tuna Seafood= smoked salmon, crab legs, shrimp cocktail. Crab tasted fresh- although i didn't see any melted butter anywhere, just butter pads and cocktail sauce. Small dessert section- mini cakes, muffins and slices of 3 different kind of cakes. Selection wasn't huge, the buffet area was quite small- only filled one corner of the room: but for a Buffet with crablegs and mimosas, omelette/waffle/pasta bar, plus brunch basics, this was plenty! i was stuffed full! (but ofcourse i grabbed a Double Tree cookie in the lobby) Service was pretty good and attentive. It gets quite crowded, so best to make ressies. I went on a Wednesday around 2pm and the service was absolutely horrible. I've never done this before but I got up and left the restaurant . I sat directly at the bar in order to get faster service. I waited 15/20 mins before The bartender/server came out and he instantly asked me for my order but I didn't have a menu. Once he gave me a menu, he literally left after 20ish mins. I have stayed at the Double Tree at Hilton a few times now. This restaurant is attached, the food is always good, but the highlight is always the customer service. It is always top notch. However, today I came down to grab some breakfast and was told they just stopped serving it, which is zero problem. This girl will eat any kind of food. The hostess was so sweet about it and took me to sit in the lounge and provided me with a lunch menu. Then someone came and told me they were going to make me breakfast anyway. The chef then came out and introduced himself and said whatever I would like, he would make. This service and care being shown blew me away! THEN they took care of the bill for me. Are you kiDding me?!?! I have not encountered needed this kind of customer service level in a long time. I felt totally valued and taken care of and I will yell it from the rooftops. But the boss said it was up to the server to serve us more! One server spilled champagne on 4 of us, another server couldn't refill our glasses because (in Spanish) " we had him warming up the crab legs". I do not recommend this place at all. Service was very slow. Even though our server was writing down our order, he forgot to put our appetizer order in.
