Though there isn't a bathroom IN the wagon, it was right next to the wagon so walking to it wasn't an issue at all. The showers weren't awesome but they were fine enough considering you're technically camping. Certainly better than having none! The check in/out process was a breeze and the place is super easy to find, as well as convenient to all the fun Fredericksburg has to offer. Every time someone would leave they would show up and sweep the patio, wipe the table, and rake the gravel. Then when someone was coming into a spot they would come over and double check to make sure everything was in proper order. It is close to all to the fun things to do in Fredericksburg. There is a large communal patio with a fire pit. On Friday nights while we were there, they had wine tastings and then on Christmas Eve they served hot chocolate around the fire pit. They have two dog parks that are well maintained. They seem to employe lots of work-campers and everyone is very friendly. One of the workers that was always out checking and cleaning the sites always had dog treats with him so our Airedale loved to see him. Some of the pull thru sites are a little tight and hard to get into, but other than that we love this park and would stay here again they next time we are in the area.

On top of that, we were stuck at the gate for two hours trying to get everything sorted out. Then come the surprise fees... * $30 cleaning fee (for an RV pad?!) * $19 damage insurance * $30 for the first day * $10/day "resort" fees None of this was clearly disclosed when booking over the phone. It feels like a classic bait-and-switch and a complete money grab. Bottom line: nice property, but the booking process, hidden fees, and customer service make it not worth the headache.

I was mainly visiting Fredericksburg to be close to Enchanted Rock State Park where I was going at night to photograph stars and other celestial objects. First of all, the motel reminds me of the ones I stayed in as a kid back in the 60's which I think were referred to as motor courts. The layout is simple, 3 long buildings, each with individual rooms, I was in Room #2. Parking was perfect for me as I parked right in front of my room's door. When you have to drag a lot of heavy photography gear in and out of the car and room, being so close is perfect. No elevator to ride and long walk to a parking lot. The room was sparkling clean, I think it might have been painted recently and the decor had a western feel with a cow skin on the floor and a Mexican serape bed cover. Speaking of the bed, it was super comfy and so were the pillows. The room had a small table and 2 comfortable chairs, the table was perfect for my laptop to use for editing my images and checking email and such. There were night stands on either side of the bed and a TV on the wall, although I never turned it on. The bathroom was great, clean and modern fixtures. It had a tub/shower, toilet and sink. The room had a kitchenette, a small counter with a nice sink and a coffee maker, a microwave was just above on the shelf. I found the 2 burner glass top stove which was stored under the sink and it worked fine for scrambling some eggs for breakfast. The fridge was small but enough room for what I needed, freezer needed to be defrosted but I kept my reusable ice pack frozen for my trip home. The only negative thing I could say is that while they did provide some plates, bowls, silverware and kitchen cooking utensils, at first there were no pots or pans. I called the main number and soon a lady delivered 2 frying pans. Sadly, they were in pretty bad shape, non stick or Teflon was all scratched up. I ended up just going to Walmart and buying a pan for $5. I would recommend the owners get some better cooking necessities like a pan and a pot. Also a roll of paper towels would be better than the Terri cloth hand towel they provided. And most importantly, the AC unit was great and kept my room really cold, even with 100 degree temps just outside. It looked clean, no signs of mold or mildew as some other reviewers noted. If I am returning to Fredericksburg, I will stay here for sure!

We saw these cabins a couple years ago while dining next door at the Cabernet Grill and always…read morewanted to get back and try them out. So since we were celebrating my wife's birthday and our 46th anniversary this week, I booked the Pedernales Cabin for a couple nights. When they talk about stepping back in time, it is indeed appropriate. First, understand that there are "cabins" and "cottages" at this property. The cabins are hand-hewn log structures that were relocated from Kentucky and Tennessee to the grounds of the Cotton Gin Village. Whereas the much newer cottages are constructed with either San Saba stone, or plaster and timber in a style reminiscent of Texas Hill Country German Fachwerk. They blend well together to provide a very relaxing and welcoming "village" environment. We were greeted at the check in area and were quickly escorted to our cabin and provided all the necessary information, to include a wonderful bottle of wine that was custom labeled to celebrate our anniversary. Our Pedernales Cabin is one of the original cabins and as such had a real "old time" feel, but was also complete with the comforts you'd expect (king size bed, A/C, microwave, fridge, shower, bath, TV, etc.) While the comforts of home are there, one of the issues we had was with the water closet (toilet) that was extremely narrow with very little room to maneuver as needed to the point of almost being claustrophobic. Navigating around the furniture in the dark at night to use the bathroom is a bit tricky, so be prepared to do so slowly and carefully. That aside, a drink or two at the Gin Mill bar (located on site) topped our evening off nicely. The bartender Brett was amazing and a joy to chat with. Retreating back to our cabin, we were excited to experience the breakfast the next morning. The bed was very comfortable, but the pillows (for me) were too fat and I had a hard time trying to flatten one to accommodate my neck issues (no biggie really). The room was quiet and comfortable. Some folks have indicated that the road noise is unbearable, but I can only speak for the Pedernales Cabin, which was very quiet with no road noise at all. We anxiously awaited the 9:00 delivery the next morning, which promptly arrived at 8:50. I've included a video of the basket reveal to show what the contents were. The breakfast was wonderful! A fluffy quiche with ham, bacon, and cheese along with some chocolate croissants, yogurt, fresh fruit, and juice. We filled up and prepared for our day of wine tasting with Keidel Wine Tours (a separate review). After a busy wine tasting day, another drink with Brett at the Gin Mill, and dinner at the Cabernet Grill (another separate review) we came back and settled in with a little left over wine we purchased relaxing on the front porch swing to enjoy the evening. Another great night's sleep awaited us. Expecting another scrumptious breakfast, we were disappointed with the second day's offerings. Inside the basket was a (very tasty but way too sweet) French Toast offering that had chunks of French Toast covered in caramelized topping and baked in the oven. We couldn't finish it due to the excessive sweetness. This was accompanied by 2 sausage links and a couple small slices of ham (not bacon as listed on the breakfast card), that had good flavor, but were just too darn salty to eat. So we enjoyed the fruit and yogurt instead. Another faux pas was that unlike our first morning's basket, there were no napkins included inside the basket. We made do with the paper towels from the kitchen sink area, so it worked out. It just seems to me that second day breakfast did not have as much attention paid to it as day 1. Overall, it was a wonderful 2 nights spent on the property, even with the breakfast issue on day 2. We will definitely return to check out one of the other cabins or cottages in the future. Atmosphere - 10/10 Service - 10/10 Food (breakfast) - 9/10 Comfort - 9/10 Overall - 9.5/10

We stayed in the Settler's Cabin. It was well-decorated and comfortable. There was a delicious danish waiting for us in the kitchen area. We made use of the BBQ grill one night to fix burgers - it was so nice to be able to just relax and eat in. We all really enjoyed meeting the donkeys that live on the property. My only complaint is the low water pressure in the bathroom - it made it almost impossible to have a hot bath. (I'm still giving a 5 star review, because I understand that being on well water can have an effect on water pressure.) We would definitely stay at Buffalo Creek Ranch again.
