I had a dress come from China for a wedding I'm going to be a bridesmaid in and I got a size bigger than what I am in US sizes (because I know china sizes run way smaller) needless to say the dress was not even close to zipping around my ribs. I panicked, I cried, I almost backed out of the wedding and then I decided to shoot Yvonne an email. I took the dress to Yvonne and she worked her magic. She basically made me a new dress because the one I had to order (for sizing) wasn't the one the bride wanted and she wanted us all to look the same, it's her dream day and I didn't want to ruin that! I have a larger chest area and I needed more coverage and a corset back added to the dress to make it work! The finished product is so supportive and covers the girls so I don't give the wedding a free show! Also she added a piece to go around my neck to make me look like the rest of the girls! I was so insecure when I got the dress and even when I went to meet her the first day to try it on for her. By the end of my first visit she had made me feel so comfortable and I knew I was in good hands!! She's like the fairy godmother in Cinderella! She turned my broken image of me in this dress into a beautiful bridesmaid who can't take this dress off once I put it on because I love it so much !! I would recommend Yvonne 10/10 times! She's the kindest and most genuinely nice person I've ever had the pleasure of meeting, and I will go to her for all my future seamstress needs! Turned me away real quick ! Lol Definitely not how you run a business. My advice is ask questions before turning someone away. She said she had only done a couple, so therefore be honest & say you aren't comfortable doing it plus you're busy the next few months. I asked that specific question only because I don't expect everyone who alters & tailors to know how to deal with an Indian dress. I know better to ask to alter clothing in advance, I didn't expect it immediately. If this is true that you can't assist customers till July, then maybe you should have that written somewhere so we don't bother to ask for help. Yvonne is an incredible person, business woman, and seamstress! I contacted her last minute - about 3 weeks prior to my wedding (total jerk-move on my part) - hoping she could do some alterations on my wedding dress. She was very honest in telling me that she was quite swamped and wasn't sure she could squeeze me in. But after asking me a few questions to gauge what I was needing, she determined that she could make it work and asked me to come in for measurements. The fitting/measurements appointment was quick and she asked all the right questions about all different areas on the dress that made me feel confident she knew exactly what she was doing and would tailor the dress to what I wanted. On top of that she was such a joy to just chat with and didn't try to rush me through the appointment or conversation. Yvonne ended up finishing my alterations in about a week (!): took the dress in about two sizes (on a dress with a lace overlay), added bra cups, and hemmed the bottom. It fit perfectly and hit the floor right where we discussed. On top of that, her prices, especially considering how fast she is, were great. And she's conveniently open to communicating via text. I went to yvonne on may 3rd for my prom dress, I told her what I needed done. My dress itself came with some issues, it had missing jewels and the extra jewels that came with the dress needed to have heat applied and I needed my straps tightened. Personally I was a little anxious, I had never worked with her before but only seen the great reviews on here. BUT on May 21st she sent me a message saying it was done, and if I could go in. I went in that day, and my dress now fits perfectly. The missing jewels were replaced, it now looks like nothing was ever missing and the straps fit perfectly. Twice now I have contacted her to help me with bridesmaid dresses that didn't fit, and both times I only had a week before the weddings. She responded so quickly and fit me in the day I contacted her and had the dresses done the next day. She is so professional and even though she is super busy, her work is excellent and detailed and she takes the time to review her work with you and show you exactly what she did. I love coming here for my alterations and hemming. I brought one of my prom dresses here in high school and she did wonderful work. She also makes custom garters which are reasonably priced!
