Excruciating service center. Made an appointment (that they had available) for 9:30 AM for routine oil change, tire rotation, and engine light diagnosis. I send a text to the service rep at 1:45 asking for an update, he replies back an hour later saying he hasn't checked because he was at lunch. Never contacts me back. I try to contact him an hour later, still no reply. Call in to the service center, they transfer me to my rep, still no reply. I go back into the service center just to find out my car hasn't been inspected yet? Why in the world would you let me schedule a routine appointment for 9:30 in the morning if you weren't even going to look at it until I stepped on your toes later in the day? SERVICE DEPARTMENT IS TERRIBLE Purchased a used 2022 GMC with less than 16,000 miles on it from Byers Chevy in Grove City. We have had to have the vehicle in for service 3-4 times in the 11 months we have owned it. Byers Service Department is negligent in doing their job as well as their customer service. We were told They would cover our rental car cost on this last time in for service. Told they use Hertz and to contact them. After having my truck for 10 days... they said Nothing is wrong. It just needed a jump on the battery that a light was left on. (No light was left on, I park in a dark garage and would have seen a light on ). So after 10 days with a rental car they said they would cover, I then get a bill from Hertz for the entire rental ! Byers Grove City Service is saying they are not responsible for the rental. (Even after speaking to one of the girls in service half way through the time and she told us to hang on to the rental a few more days !). OMG. Mind blowing! Took my vehicle there for transmission fluid change and ironically, less than a month later I get all sorts of errors in the information center, the best being " service transmission now, unable to shift soon" Called dealership and they couldn't even advise me if I should continue to drive the vehicle or not. Let vehicle with them and they tell me is some sort of electrical component associated with the gear shifter that is not covered by the powertrain warranty and will cost be $1,000.00. Vehicle only has 45,000 Miles on it. Once informed them I paid for an extended bumper to bumper warranty they covered. Lastly, part took 4 days to come in and then they let my vehicle sit in the parking lot for 4 more days before they even decided to install it. During those two days the service representative (Glenn) told me they were working on it which I know was not true because my vehicle didn't move off the lot from where it was parked 4 days earlier. Worst customer service experience of my life. Byers suggested maintenance on the transfer case of my 2021 Silverado at 49,000 miles. After they did this, my truck was leaking fluid. I returned it and they ensured me they fixed it. After I left the second time within 100 miles of the visit my engine light comes on. The entire transfer case had to be replaced. I walked back to see my truck and they had my transmission "being held up by a screw jack" (their tech's exact words). Prior to this visit, I haven't had 1 issue with my garage kept Chevy. Glenn lied about calling me back multiple times and Joe insisted what they had nothing to do with the problem. They refused to give me my money back and offered me 2 "free oil change" coupons. The entire process was a nightmare. Do NOT take your vehicle to this place. Messing something up is one thing... we all make mistakes. But lying about it... and not making it right? I had a 4:00 appointment, I was told they were running 1 1/2 to 2 hrs late. I got a call at 5:30 to discuss recommendations, that my car would be ready soon and paper work will be with the cashier. I was never told that they were closing soon or that my car was actually ready for pick-up. I went to pick up my car and I was given "well I'm in sales so I can't help you." This place totally missing out on customer service, our worst car buying experience EVER!!! The online buying experience at Byers is worst than having teeth pulled.Our truck was nothing like the deceptive Chevy advertisement, and when we had problems and question with the deceptive ads their sales manager and service manager treated us like we were stupid because the build codes aren't on the ads...our salesman totally missed on the fact that I was disabled and would have enjoyed certain items on the truck that the deceptive ad had advertised...then when we questioned about it we were intimidated by one of the sales manager by him telling us"I can sell that truck to anybody",even tho I had a deposit on the truck and "none of those trucks were ordered with that option" then turn around and show me another truck coming in their pipeline with that particular item on it...our sales person was more interested in telling us HER story instead of listening to what we NEEDED....and then when we actually look at the truck it was DISGUSTING,the worst "new"car I have ever seen....every body standing around in the back and the trucks they are giving people look like someone lived in them for a month....OH YEAH,before we even arrived at the dealership they put on this crappy coating on it so that we can't wash the truck for 3 days OR examine the paint quality.....3 days later when able to wash it for the first time the entire front of the truck looks like it was driven thru the Canadian wilderness with scratches on the hood and others around the truck and that same sales manager looks right at us and says,"it won't be perfect" for $60,000 Chevy doesn't give you perfect paint jobs...amazing. Pretty unimpressed with this place. I went on a Sunday to look at a vehicle and trade my old one in. I had done my research and found same vehicles in the Columbus area, newer, with less miles, priced below or slightly above what they had an older vehicle with higher mileage priced. I decided to give them a chance to come down on the price and to be more competitive with the other dealers. Their vehicle was 2018 with 41,000 miles priced around $20,300. The other vehicles on my list were 2018/2019's with 12,000-18,000 miles on them priced between $19,000-$21,000. I pointed this out to them and was told "you don't have to get defensive." Now, I'm a mental health therapist and I'm pretty in check with my emotions and I can assure you, I wasn't getting defensive over their vehicle. I was simply pointing out that they were super overpriced compared to similar (newer and lower mileage) vehicles. I also pointed out that they've had this particular vehicle since August. The manager comes over and says he's willing to go down to $19,900 but that's only if I get financing through them. He won't go any lower or even give me that price if I go through my own bank. I've already been approved for a $17,000 loan through my bank with the lowest interest possible so I'm not interested in financing. I decline and leave. The next day, the vehicle is lowered to $19,600 publicly on numerous websites. I must have brought it to their attention how overpriced it was. Additionally, I'm called and asked if I have any questions about the vehicle I looked at yesterday. In the voicemail, the sales man mentions the WRONG car. It's not even the one I looked at! This place seems so unorganized and confused. They were pretty nice up until negotiation but they did let a potential $19K purchase walk out the door due to their inflexibility. This review will focus on the service department. A couple years ago (back when Byers was still on Broad St.) I brought my Cruze in for warranty work and was very happy with the service. Shortly after, they relocated to Grove City and I started taking my Cruze to Jack Maxton because they were closer to my apartment. But I was never really 'happy' with JM's 'Quick Service' department. While they offered walk-ins, I would end up waiting a lot longer than if I had an appointment, and the service advisors were pushy into offering additional services I didn't need. Fed up with trying to make an appointment with JM, I decided to come back to Byer's for vehicle maintenance. They offered a $49.00 oil change/tire rotation special and figured it would be worth the drive--it was! From the time I pulled up, I regretted taking my car anywhere else... Glenn Collins provided a friendly welcome and showed me their waiting area. The waiting area had several tables for those wishing to work while waiting, and also offered comfortable chairs for those who preferred to watch one of the three televisions. The waiting area also had coffee, bottled water, and several vending machines. Just off of the waiting area is the main showroom, where you can grab a bag of popcorn or a copy of the latest Chevy brochure. After the work was completed on my car, Glenn went over my Cruze's routine maintenance schedule and told me what could wait and what needed more immediate attention without being pushy. In addition to the oil change and tire rotation, it was a nice surprise to see that they put my car through the car wash-nice touch! Byers also reports all work completed to CarFax! All-in-all, I will be back. All of the employees I saw while waiting or looking around the showroom were extremely friendly and professional. The dealership looks great and was very clean. *UPDATE* - 10/13/2020 Finally received a call back from Byers after two weeks since my appointment with them. Still NOT happy with them. I talked to one of their service people and he basically stated that if I wasn't happy, that he'd arrange for another appointment to get my horn fixed right but I would STILL have to pay FULL PRICE for the repair! I already paid them nearly $300.00 just for them to trim and reseat my radiator hose and to take apart and reseat my horn contacts in my steering wheel. I thought that if I paid the $300 that at least it would be fixed properly and I wouldn't have to worry about it anymore. WRONG! They just did a temporary fix and want me to pay an additional $156.00 to fix the horn properly! For the work they did, the price was ridiculous! I told the guy that they were charging too much and his excuse was "we price according to our competitors in the area." I told him that if they would make it right and fix it for free that I would be happy. He very bluntly told me that "we won't fix it for free." Having my horn not working is a safety issue for me and others! For the price I paid (if not less), I'm sure that other dealers probably would have got my horn fixed right. I saw another review where someone was complaining about Byers' price gouging and that they got much better service pricing at other Chevy dealers in the area. Needless to say, I made it known to them that I am NOT happy and that I will NEVER be back! I've been into many dealerships for service in my time and this is by far the worst service I've received! *UPDATE* - 10/9/2020 Got contacted by their customer service rep and I called her back and left a message, still no call back from her after a week. I also reached out to Byers via email and got no helpful response. This place is a JOKE! Do not do business here! I lowered my review to 1 star because of my anger and frustration! Way overpriced service! I brought in my 2003 TrailBlazer to Byers Chevrolet to have the horn looked at and a coolant leak from the upper radiator hose fixed and I waited for about three hours for them to get it all done. They also did the work without giving me a real quote first, just their "diagnostic fee" which was quoted to be around $270.00. My jaw dropped when they said that! This is a Chevy, NOT a luxury car! The service advisor I worked with said that the repair cost could be less if it didn't cost them that much. I've been to a Cadillac dealer in Cincinnati and their diagnostic fee was $100.00 and that got dropped if you did the repairs and their service and prices were WAY more reasonable! This is a Chevy, NOT a Cadillac! Why is Byers so expensive? Needless to say, they charged me $135.00 to fix my horn which they did without replacing any parts and they said it's possible it could stop working again since they didn't replace the switch. They should've replaced the switch for the $135.00 cost they charged me to fix it! Also, the coolant leak they fixed by trimming my upper radiator hose and they charged me the same $135.00 for that! Terrible service department. Already had codes and tests ran at grismer along with oem parts to attempt to fix an evap code. Was told to take to dealer to get more in depth evaluation on where the evap leak is. These guys literally ran the code scanner for $200 and would be another $700 to drop the gas tank for further evaluation. I did go on a Saturday and that probably is the worst day to go car shopping however it is no excuse for the treatment that I received from the sales person Kevin. I came in and spoke with Kevin and I asked him if he could do better on the price and he instantly said NO. He didn't ask the finance manager or anything. I had to tell him I saw the vehicle for a better price and then he went and asked. He came back and told me they could reduce the price. I left so I could think about it. I called Kevin and told him I wanted the vehicle. He got the paperwork ready and I headed back to the dealership. When I arrived at the dealership. I told Kevin that I saw the price of the vehicle reduced from a few hours ago and he began to YELL at me about the price of the vehicle. He was so loud that the people next to me stopped their conversation to look us and even the receptionist was looking over at us. I then asked him if he was ok and he continued to shout. I suggested that maybe I should work with someone else because he so angry. He then grabbed the papers I was suppose to sign and he stormed off in to a office. I sat waiting for 5 minutes embarrassed and upset. I decided that this deal was not for me and I walked out. I was stopped by 2 employees and I told them what happened and they told me they would work with me to sell me a car. I did stay and talk to someone else but ultimately I left. You have 2 choices. Honor the second oil change or deny the oil change. Buyers decided to deny and that is final. I have decided that Buyers Chevrolet is a business I will not use. It's the small investments in customer service that pay dividends. I think corporations need to be reminded of this. The receptionist at Buyers is excellent. My husband and I went out to look at a used vehicle. We were approached by the "salesman" named Serge. He did not seem that interested in helping us but did hand us the keys to let us take a test drive. When we came back we said we would like to take the truck. He handed us an Ipad to fill out the app. We waited for about 30 minutes and Serge finally came back and it was about 30 minutes from closing time. He said he could not get an answer that day but would call us first thing Monday. All the while, chewing tobacco and spitting it into a Styrofoam cup...really?? At 1:30 on Monday after not hearing anything from Serge, I called and he said, "I was getting ready to call you, I just got in and was eating my lunch." I'm calling out this dealership for their $110 inspection of my vehicle only including pulling the dipstick under the hood to "eyeball" the oil and turning the key to see what sound my engine made. I brought the suv in because the dipstick wasn't registering any oil even though I had just got an oil change at another Chevrolet that morning. Suddenly a few hours later my engine wouldn't turn over. So my vehicle arrives with a known engine problem of some kind and they said they could, without a doubt, tell me why the car would not start by doing a $110 inspection. Tish swears she mentioned additional labor may be necessary to determine the issue. Untrue, anyway.... My vehicle was dropped off over Memorial Day weekend. Byers went from "my engine guy is swamped might not get to it til Wednesday" to calling me literally first thing Tuesday morning requesting an additional $1500 to do further inspection. Further inspection? MY VEHICLE HAD NOT MOVED FROM THAT SPOT! Tish insists that they simply wheeled the car in to the garage area and wheeled it back out. What expert precision! That lot is a disorganized, crammed mess. Cars jammed in every direction. Not a straight shot to simply roll forward then right back EXACTLY where the car originated. I saw where my vehicle was dropped by the tow truck I purposely inspected the area and my back tires position. They were identical to the day of drop off. My seat hadn't even been adjusted. I'm 5 ft. The size of a child. No plastic on the floor or seat. A mechanic just hopped in my vehicle and steered through a maze of vehicles without adjusting the seat or protecting my seats or mat with anything? I call BS. Who was steering the vehicle while being "pushed" to the garage area for inspection. Someone adjusted the seat then magically put it back to my exact height?? Point #2- I had just had an oil change done at another Chevrolet the morning my car would not start. I claimed negligence on their part and that they had not put the proper amount of oil in my car or that the oil was leaking/draining improperly. YET a $110 inspection would not include something as simple as draining the oil to see exactly how much is there. You know why it didn't? Because that just might include my vehicle being hoisted up but again IT WAS NOT because it DIDNT LEAVE THAT SPOT!! Tish admitted that her guy just eyeballed it. Finally, some honesty. They simply called the other Chevrolet and said it's a quart over on oil. Then told me that that Chevrolet has "washed their hands" of my vehicle. Funny, as i mentioned earlier the vehicle was registering 0 quarts of oil. My mechanic added 5 quarts to my vehicle the same day as my oil change and it's only registering ONE quart over ... yeah, sounds like that other Chevrolet did a perfect job. No leaks were detected.... so where's the extra oil??? As if the BS inspection wasn't enough, Look out for extreme price gouging in the service department. I was quoted $1500 for breaking down the engine of a 2016 equinox to the point of failure at Byers. Same exact service job quoted $600-$900 at Mark Wahlberg Chevrolet and $800 flat at Hamilton Chevrolet. Both dealerships agreed that $1500 was egregious and inexplicably overpriced. Absolutely no reason to charge that much for a standard procedure on a 2016 equinox. $1500 for the recommended complete engine tear down is astronomical and not by the book. Two dealerships have confirmed this, and I am sure I could call around and get even more Chevrolet's to agree. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! *EDIT* In response to the owners original response, I will reach out via email, but I wanted to ask publicly how the $1500 quote could include parts and replacement when Tish says your Chevrolet has no idea what's wrong with my engine. What parts would be included for an unknown issue? What at this point are we certain needs to be replaced? None of these things were shared with me. *SECOND EDIT* The response from the owner has changed so I will add an additional follow up as well. I followed up with the other Chevrolets to inquire about their quotes including what you mentioned your quote covers. Their price did not change, what was included with them aligned with what your Chevrolet included. So again, major price difference. Of course any Chevrolet can charge whatever they want, but you have to admit when your Chevrolet stands out as charging almost double for something standard across the board. Of course I'm taking my vehicle elsewhere. I'm not sure if your other customers just say "okay" to whatever price you all put on the paper or if I just seem dense, but it only takes a few moments to call around and see if I'm being taken advantage of. Turns out my instincts were correct, and judging by your first response $1500 sounds like a quote that would include parts and replacement of some kind. Lazy showroom staff,. From the receptionist to the salesman. My wife and mother-in-law had bought their 2019 cars here and had a decent opinion of this dealership. Until today! I went in looking for a new Camaro, Being a taller guy I wanted to see if I was even comfortable in one before I got serious. When I explained my situation, I get the "your bothering me" eye roll from the receptionist and the salesman didn't act like he wanted to make a sale, They finally got me a key fob to one on the lot and the battery was dead. I tried to explain the battery situation and they made feel like it was my problem. I will buy a Camaro but it will be from a different dealership in Columbus. Been great buying a smaller vehicle from Byers Chevrolet in Grove City. Mario and Erica did a great job in helping me to trade my leased vehicle for a used vehicle that will meet my budget. They helped me to save $400 per month. I am very grateful to them! Also, the finance people are great to work with as well. I am very happy with my new to me little 2016 Cruze Premier.
