The last time I had Byrd's Hot Chicken was in Anaheim, California a few years ago! I arrived in Chicago at the Westin Lombard. It was cold outside, around 20 degrees out! After getting checked in at the hotel and unpacked in the hotel room, I ended up looking on UberEats for restaurants in the area. Byrd's Hot Chicken was one of the first restaurants that popped up on the application! Byrd's Hot Chicken's menu consists of lots of chicken! You can order a chicken sandwich, the Byrd Bowl (diced chicken tender, cheese, slaw etc..), Tenders, French Fries, Mac N Cheese, Cake Shake, Chicken Nuggets, and so much more! I ended up ordering the following from Byrd's Hot Chicken [2] Chicken sandwiches: Plain, with pickles and cheese. Mac N Cheese Side The UberEats order took about 30 minutes. The meal was still hot and the chicken was super crispy when it arrived at the hotel! I opened up the bag and couldn't believe how much Mac N Cheese was in the container! There was so much! The Mac N Cheese was delicious!! It was perfectly seasoned and loaded with cheese! The chicken sandwiches were my favorite though! The chicken was juicy and tender. The breading on the chicken was so crispy and yummy! The pickles and cheese was a good addition to the chicken sandwich! This was one of my favorite chicken sandwiches that I've had in a long time! I might have to come back here one more time before I fly back to Las Vegas!

I didn't know this was a chain, but no matter what I was in the mood for hot chicken. I always pass this place and each time it wasn't busy. It's close to Kitakata ramen. Parking is sufficient. When you walk inside, they have a ton of seating available. You order at the counter, take a seat, and they bring it out to you (if you are dining in). Service was very friendly. They greeted me when I walked in and asked if everything was good. I ordered the sandwich combo along with a small macaroni and cheese. -sandwich combo 5 - the sandwich had two huge pieces of chicken tenders with coleslaw and pickles. They added 24k sauce to the sandwich but they also provided an additional small cup of sauce for free. I ordered medium heat. People said the coleslaw could use more flavor, but the coleslaw was basically there to kind of buffer the heat. Medium was spicy enough for my eyes to water, but it was still enjoyable. I didn't want it to be too mild or too spicy on my initial visit. The batter was on the thicker side but the chicken remained super juicy on the inside. That's what matters. The fries were crinkle cut with seasoning. I recommend dipping your fries in the 24k sauce. -macaroni and cheese 5 - creamy texture with lots of cheese. Noodles were firm but not hard. Plentiful amount.

This place is clean and easy to get to. We went for lunch on a weekday and it was steady. We were immediately greeted and had the menu explained. Food came out hot and was obviously freshly prepared. However, the food didn't wow us. The Bryd's Nest is a mix of coleslaw, fries, chicken and a house sauce. It was tasty but you better be hungry because it's huge and leftovers not really an option with coleslaw and fries. How do you reheat one and not the other? Also it will give people with OCD about food touching nightmares. My party wings had a heavy seasoning on them similar to what you do with Nashville hot chicken, but I didn't think the seasoning complimented the Buffalo sauce at all. Also the fries had an herby seasoning on them that didn't hit with me either. For Muslim patrons though, the meat is listed as halal.

My husband and I really enjoy hot chicken and lately it's become a household sensation. We saw this place on yelp and decided to try it. Walking in we loved how inviting the interior was. My husband being a southern native, loved how "at home" it made him feel. The interior was very clean and adequately spacious. We both ordered the chicken sandwich and the Byrd Bomb fries (both in medium) and got two drinks. While we waited the owner indulged us in conversation about different spice levels as well as our opinions on different flavor profiles. He definitely made us feel very welcome. Byrd's did NOT disappoint us. The bomb fries had very tender pieces of chicken that had a very well balanced flavor to them. The mixture of chicken, coleslaw, and pickles took on a taste that my husband said was better than Hangry Joes. In my personal opinion, the pickles were still moist with pickle juice which I loved, the slaw was still crunchy which added a nice snap and the chicken was perfectly cooked. The chicken in the chicken sandwich was the star of the show, and just like the fries, the combination of the ingredients gave it all a unique taste that we both enjoyed very much. I highly recommend this restaurant for its juicy, well seasoned chicken and fresh ingredients. I am not a fan of Hangry joes or Dave's due to how I feel nauseous after eating it however, if you are a fan of those places I think you will also love this restaurant. Side note: The owner did mention this is a soft opening and there is a more extensive menu coming.

From out of town wanted to try something different this place did not disappoint, food was made to order. I ordered medium spice and it was great be careful it's definitely warm for a medium spice. Staff was friendly and wasn't bad priced

New hot chicken joint in Lombard worth checking out. My personal point of comparison is Fry the Coop in Elmhurst. Chicken here is crispier with thicker batter/crunch. Hot spice is good heat without melting your face off. 24K sauce is a tasty thousand island dressing minus the pickle bits. The coleslaw is the only item that could use some enhanced flavor. Fries are typical crinkle cut fare. More items to try and will be back.

Enjoyed my first visit. Went for the number one, thought I asked for medium heat but the receipt said mild. I definitely could handle something spicier. Crinkle fries were piping hot and well seasoned. Very friendly staff and the dining room was spotless. The breast hung off each end of the sandwich and those bites revealed the delicious breading and perfect doneness. Will have to stop back for some medium heat wings.

YUM YUM YUM!! Food was so fire and affordable. I am in love with their chicken tenders. The portion is huge and the place was very clean. I love how fresh everything was and the service was very quick. The owner was very sweet and gave us a free drink on the house . We're from out of state but will definitely come back when we're in town. ALSO, this place is halal!!!!

Byrd's is located in a small plaza across the street from Yorktown Mall. There's plenty of parking. The interior is spacious and has fun decor, such as a rooster on a skateboard. We ordered a chicken sandwich combo, chicken tender combo, and a single tender for my son. We made a slight mistake ordering two combos, as we ended up with way too many fries. The chicken sandwich was pretty good. I thought the coleslaw could have been more flavorful, though. The 24k sauce was tasty. They actually stick two large tenders in this sandwich. The chicken tender combo was also pretty good, although the batter was a bit thick and I had to peel some off. I got one tender with Mild spice and one with Medium. The latter definitely had some kick to it, but not unbearable. The bread they use for the toast seems to be higher quality than the simple white bread used by Dave's Hot Chicken. My son seemed to enjoy his tender. The fries here are interesting, as the seasoning on them kind of reminds me of sour cream & onion chips. Overall, a nice spot for fried chicken if you're at the mall or nearby stores. I think I still like Dave's chicken the best (specifically the chicken, not sides), but Byrd's is on par with Dave's and Hangry Joe's.

Mild Chicken Wings

The breading on the mild chicken wings tastes burnt. I tried to eat them but gave up. This was my first time trying this place and won't be back. The season on the fries were decent.

I liked the burger and the curly fries. They have a very large menu. The logistics of getting in and out of Schmale rd.as well as the pain points of going in for counter service rates a one-star rating for me. I did not figure in these factors into my rating. My best advice is to avoid going into the restaurant to order at the counter or to eat in the restaurant. There is no room to wait for your order to be prepared. The self serve beverage station and the order kiosks are right in the middle of where people wait for their order to be done. So it is continually "Excuse me..Excuse me..Sorry, I'm in your way." The restaurant was fully staffed and the workers were very nice. The ambiance of the eating area is poor. The booths have padding on the back but there is no padding on the seat. So you are sitting on a hard slap of formica. And of course if it is crowded, you may experience the overflow of people waiting for their counter order just hanging around your table. That is why I advise doing drive-through. I liked the food enough to try a different location. Getting and eating at a fast food place should not be this difficult.

Service: Service was mediocre at best. No greeting, no friendliness, and when we realized the two sides of sauce we paid for were missing, we went back and still received no apology or acknowledgment. Food: The food was cold and honestly unappetizing. The "salt fries" arrived cold, topped with cold cheese sauce. The burger was lukewarm, greasy, and sloppy -- we stopped eating it after a couple bites because it seemed like the kind of thing that would make you feel sick. The only somewhat decent item was the onion rings, likely because they were the only thing served hot. We ended up sharing those and throwing the rest away. Even then, my stomach didn't feel right for the rest of the evening.

4/17/26 ticket #B8211…read more I waited approximately 30 minutes and never received my food. After about 25 minutes, I asked for an update and was told, "We're busy." I completely understand that delays can happen, but several customers who ordered after my family and I received their food before us. A large order for a family of eight was even called ahead of ours, despite being placing their order after us. When I asked again when I could expect our food, I was told it was being worked on. However, this is an open kitchen, and there were no burgers on the grill at the time. Since I needed to return to work, I requested a refund. I was asked to leave my receipt on the counter and told it would be handled later. I asked that the refund be processed immediately, and it was eventually completed. This was especially disappointing because it was my second visit. I experienced a small issue during my first visit, and unfortunately, this experience was worse. As someone in the food industry, I was surprised there was no apology for the inconvenience. I hope ownership takes this as an opportunity to improve communication and customer service training for staff. If I don't hear back from management, I will presume they don't care about their clientele.

We tried several things from this cafe, and everything was phenomenal, but there was one thing that was beyond all the stars, but here's a breakdown of it all: Potato Savory - so basically if you're looking for chaat, this is it. They call it savory, we call it chaat, but in either case, you can tell this isn't something pre-made and slapped into a bowl. The veggies were crunchy, not soggy. The chutney was sharp, but not overwhelming. And all the condiments and veggies and chickpeas together made a cohesive dish, well balanced. Definitely recommend. 8.5/10 Chicken Club Sandwich - this sandwich is....a LOT. In a good way! The pulled chicken is seasoned well. It's massive and there is a lot of flavor in each bite. This gives Chai Ho Jai (Naperville) a definite run for its money. 9/10 Filli Chicken Seasoned Flatbread - we tried this one second, and my God, it's a definite 10 out of 10! 10/10. Dynatime Chicken Flatbread - okay, so we tried this flatbread first, and I thought it was a 10/10, but then I tried the other flatbread and realized this was a definite 11/10! Lacha Melt Chicken - this was great, very akin to a quesadilla with a paratha. Unique concept, yes, but not my favorite thing here. And yet, well seasoned and delicious. 8/10! Pistachio Latte (Iced) - this was a stand out. This latte was SO delicious, I got one - everyone took a sip, and then we ordered more! Sooooo goooooooood!!!! 10/10! Now let's get to the STAR OF THE SHOW: The FRIES - the fries that came with all the entrees were hot, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The perfect specimen for a fry. Add to that the lovely spice powder sprinkled on top of them - they are delicious, melt in your mouth, and in addition to being the perfect accompaniment to the food, they're absolutely great all on their own! 100/10! Definitely recommend this place - the ambience and the service are both absolutely great. As long as the taste of the food remains consistent and this place remains clean and hospitable, this is going to be one of the top notch places in the area. Don't overcrowd the menu, either, it's perfect as it is!

You can tell the food was made fresh and not just thrown together. The beef burger was really solid, juicy, well-seasoned, and had that good smashed/grilled flavor.
