I have driven past this place probably hundreds of times over the years. We were actually heading to a different restaurant when we noticed Gemato's and decided to try something different. Inside, it looked really clean and thematic. The lighting was perfect. I was pleased to see that they also serve alcohol. The menu is impressive and they have lunch specials, Monday-Thursday. I don't eat pork, so finding beef ribs was awesome! Our order taker was nice and explained the menu and answered any questions that we had. I ordered the half-slab of the beef ribs dinner. I hadn't been there for a while, but I ordered the rib dinner. First of all the portions were large, which is appreciated today when things are getting smaller and smaller the ribs were fantastic. Fall off the bone full of meat and flavor. I've been going to this restaurant on and off for 20 years it being there so long speaks for it self. Their menu also seems to be the best value for the prices when compared to any other bbq places. Ordered a half slab with a baked potato and cole slaw and that was all cooked well and tasted good. I love their tangy bbq sauce and the way it pairs well with the flavor of their smoked meats. I also ordered a half bbq chicken and it was a little dry but still pretty good still with the sauce. I might order an extra side of sauce if I were to get chicken again just in case. The restaurant has a local fast casual style so I usually just order takeout but the staff is friendly and the interior is always clean so I probably wouldn't mind enjoying my food inside either. I used to love this place when I was younger. Visited with my mom today and was super disappointed in the quality of the food, taste, and the price. We ordered a half rack (came with fries), baked beans, Mac and cheese and two Diet Coke cans. The ribs were fine, small but juicy. The beans and mac and cheese...... I had the brisket sandwich with fries and my wife had a small portion of the baby back ribs. This is not BBQ is the traditional sense, but they're definitely cooking over an open flame. Ribs were nice and tender with good flavor with that hint of open flame char. Brisket, while good, was a little bit dry. Neither one of us was over the moon about the sauce, but it was good. I'm not always a huge fan of the crinkle cut (maybe extruded) fry but these were really good and crispy. Another patron had an order of what must have been beef ribs and they looked fantastic. I only get their rib special here. And I will say that in terms of ribs they are some of the best I've had in the Chicago suburbs. I have not tried anything else. Service is very slow so if you are starving i recommend for you to eat a snack before you eat indoor. I think is because they might have a low employee ratio to the food that needs to come out I do not understand 45 min wait for a brisket sandwich and the food is serve look warm in not even hot. Some of the best bbq I've ever had! So happy I found this place after moving to Naperville. Their bbq sauce is to die for. We ordered the Gemato's wood pit combo with ribs, chicken and beef brisket with a side of Mac n cheese and it was absolutely delicious! Everything was tender and flavorful and I just cannot get over how good the bbq sauce is. The only thing I don't like about this place is that they don't have online ordering. So I've been coming here for nearly 10 years now (in fact, was back today with the person who brought me the first time!) So I figured it was time for an update. Gemato's had a renovation some time between then and now but the food remains the same: bbq with some greek flourishes. Today i got the pulled pork plate with a baked potato and corn on the cob, and himself got brisket plate with grecian potatoes and corn. They do give you a stupendous amount of meat, though my pork could have used a bit more pulling. Also, the potato wasn't totally done; trying to mash it with a plastic fork was bending the fork! Fared better with the corn. My companion enjoyed his grecian potatoes and brisket. We ate in, and I have to question why multiple TVs were on all with the SOUND on, and loudly! A football game, a cooking show, all vying for attention; either pick one program for all TVs and have the sound, or use subtitles for all, but this made for the most jarring environment; I couldn't wait to leave!
