His first response to the problem was to tell me to take something like Motrin and call in two weeks. After seeing an oral surgeon and being properly treated for a jaw infection at the injection site, he refused to accept any responsibility, sending me a letter that said I was no longer his patient. As others have said, his staff is really nice and the office is modern but I can't respect a doctor that will not take ownership of their mistakes. Also, be prepared to pay $100 if you miss an appointment.

My wife and I moved up to NH last year from CT. We had always had cleanings and check up back home…read moreevery 6 months. We made appointments with Hastings based on recommendations we had received. To be objective, it seemed that this dental facility was state of the art, they seemed to have the latest and greatest equipment. The staff, especially the hygienists and assistants were very nice and professional. They were on top of making sure you were always comfortable. What really turned me off (more like pissed me off) was the upsell along with the sales pressure that the woman up front who handled the scheduling. They would seat you with her as you were exiting and she would hit you up with additional procedures that were very costly and certain unaffordable. I tried to explain to them that I had been out of work, and did not have dental insurance to pay for a $1400 under gum cleaning. They eventually cam back with a procedure using a different piece of equipment for around 1/4 of the price, but still insisted I would require the original $1400 procedure within a few months. Well, all the time I am thinking that my dentist in CT had never come up with all this baloney. Meanwhile, my wife get's told that all her fillings needed to be replaced. She questioned this diagnosis and guess what happened? They sent us a notice in the mail firing us as their patients because we did not subscribe to their treatments. Give me a break!!! I'll tell you what, my guess is this dentist needed to turn in his Mercedes for the new Bently that's coming out. I guess he doesn't realize that dental health care is not the same as selling used cars. I do not recommend this practice as I feel they have very low regard for their customers and their customer's financial situations, they just want to soak you or your insurance for all that they can get.

Today was a busy day and it would've been nice if someone had told me that they were running late, but the new procedure chairs are VERY comfy so I did some deep breathing. Dr. McDonald was very positive, explained the relatively simple procedure I was having, and was understanding of my fear of the Novocain needle. The assistants are always very friendly and upbeat. The results of the bonding procedure are beautiful and the price seems quite reasonable.

People need to be warned about this place and please get a second opinion if they tell you that you need that really expensive gum deep clean that costs almost $2000 with really decent dental insurance (decent for dental insurance). As far as I can tell, they tell everyone they absolutely need that treatment. Not one person I know who went there has been told they don't need it. Those that go elsewhere are always told they don't need it by another dentist. When I went to a new dentist they said, "Yeah, you've got a lot of plaque, but we can fix this with more regular cleanings." And those cleanings are NOT nearly $2000 a pop. I also found that every service there is SO much more expensive than a non-chain, non-corporate dentist. You will pay easily twice as much for everything. They will sit with you and go over how much it is going to cost and they will be really nice and understanding about it. But those prices are insane and not normal for other dentists in the area- please know that going in. Please shop around. When I switched to Horizon down the street, my bills for some really extensive dental work went WAY WAY down. And the services aren't great at ASPEN either, and the people are really fake. I went there because I had a dental emergency and really needed a rather large filling. The dentist was polite at first, but she was really kind of rude when I was in the chair and I could tell she was just frustrated most of the time. I got a crown. The crown fell out twice, once when I was eating a caramel, but the second time, I was eating tuna salad. There are other things, like the Brattleboro location doesn't have a hygienist (they probably don't pay enough, I'm guessing their dentists are way underpaid as well.) They sent me to Keene to get that done, my appointment was for 1:00 and everyone there did not show up back from their lunch break when they close the entire office until 1:15. There were people waiting outside confused and they were just...rude about it.

She wanted me to wait and then have the root canal right there and then. I didn't feel comfortable so I left. I got a second opinion somewhere else and thank god I did because it was an easy filling fix. Scary how she was pushing for me to get the root canal!
