Awesome U-Pick strawberry patch in Brentwood. I have a friend who lives int he area and she said it was one fo the newer ones. Super friendly staff and you park right by the patch. We were there mid week so there was plenty of ripe strawberries and we pretty much had the place to ourselves. As we do we got out of control and picked about 5 pounds lol Lots of fun.....

Come early! Check the website for hours, but today their operating hours were from 8am - 1pm. We arrived at 10:00 and had to work really hard to locate ripe strawberries. The staff provide red buckets for picking strawberries. Price is by the pound. We almost filled a bucket and paid $13 for our hard work. They accept lots of electronic methods of payment.

Beautiful strawberries, enormous onions and all organic. The owners are amazing, will definitely come back often!

The owners are absolutely courteous and kind, best strawberry picking experience, can't wait to come back again :)

Kids had a blast picking g the sweetest strawberries. Sooo many to choose from, a couple different varieties. Easy to find, lots of parking. Beautiful views of mountains diablo makes for some amazing pictures. Highly recommend.

I went out last weekend to pick some strawberries. And oh my God I have never tasted such juicy sweet strawberries in my life. Everyone there was super sweet, helpful as well as very knowledgeable, and could answer any questions that I had. I'd rather support my community, then buy from a store. I mean, you really can't beat $3.50 per pound for freshly picked strawberries.

They take Venmo and Zelle, so don't worry about having to have cash, but they also accept that too!

What's great about cherry picking is that it's great for all ages. They provide ladders and each of the rows of cherries are well-labelled. Plenty of rows to pick from without feeling overcrowded. Enjoy!

Later on, we found out that section was already out of season. As we walked farther, we finally saw much better cherries, but most of the good ones were way too high to reach and there were no ladders available. There were some lower branches, but the cherries there were not great in quality, so we ended up picking only around 3 lbs. We then decided to switch to the peach and nectarine area hoping for a better experience, but unfortunately there was barely anything good to pick. Most of the fruits were either overripe, damaged, or already picked over. Overall, it felt like the farm should have better guidance on which sections are still worth visiting before customers pay and spend time walking around in the heat. The staff was fine, but the overall fruit quality and picking experience were disappointing for us this visit.

My daughter and I found what looked to be an unpicked cherry tree and went to work. It didn't take long for us to gather a bounty of cherries, and there was tons of low hanging fruit that was super easy for a petite seven-year-old to reach. Special thanks to the Freitas staff member who told us to pick dark cherries. The bright red ones look appealing but they need more time on the tree! We took home seven pounds of cherries. They were $4/pound and they take cash or credit cards. I checked their website before heading here (and recommend you do too!). We'll definitely be back to Freitas.

There was no signage indicating price/pound, and they give you a plastic bag to carry your cherries. When we got into the orchard, we noticed that most of the trees had been either picked clean or had berries that were rotten or too small/not ripe yet. We intentionally walked much further in to see if we could find some trees that hadn't been picked as much, but the orchard wasn't in great shape. We struggled to find cherries we actually wanted to pick, and we tripped a few times on the uneven dirt, weeds, and tubes running throughout. When we left, we weighed our cherries and confirmed they were $4/lb. Freitas also doesn't take credit card, so we had to pay with either cash or Venmo. We've previously been to The Cherry Pit and far preferred our experience there. The Cherry Pit had parking closer to the entrance, clear signage indicating price/lb, lots of high quality trees and ample cherries to pick, and accepts credit cards. The Cherry Pit also didn't ask us to sign a waiver before entering.

However, there was no water available, and the staff member at the front wasn't able to tell us where to find any. Overall, it felt like the weekday experience lacked attention to guest services. In comparison, Urban Edge Farm, just a few minutes away, offered outstanding service, high-quality produce, and complimentary rides, making for a much more enjoyable visit.

Tip: follow them on instagram to get the latest updates on hours and available fruits for picking. The place is quite large, so you'll need to pay for their tractor ride ($4) to get from station to station. We came around 10:00 a.m. on a Monday and the place wasn't crowded. We picked up our baskets and then let the kids place around their tree house for a little bit before getting on the tractor. Our first stop was peaches and apricots. The peaches were pretty low hanging, and the kids were so excited to pick them. However, there weren't that many ripe ones at this time. There were more ripe apricots, and they were sweet and juicy. Our next stop was the strawberry station where there were plenty of ripe strawberries. Our last stop was the cherry station. Our driver directed us to the last row where we could find ladders. Sure enough the cherries were plentiful and so sweet and juicy. There were even kid size ladders for the littles ones. The fruits were 100 times better than what you'll find at the grocery store, and the kids had so much fun picking their own fruits. If you need a fun activity with the kids, I high recommend coming here.
