Due to an unexpected emergency, I had to leave town the same day and did not return until January 22, 2026, during which time my computer remained unused at home. On January 26, 2026, I powered on my laptop and it immediately shut off. I returned to the shop to explain the issue. They kept my computer and later told me they had "good news and bad news." The good news was that the screen still worked. The bad news was that the motherboard was damaged. Concerned, I took my laptop to the Apple Store for a second opinion. Apple advised me that the most recent party to service the device is typically responsible for internal damage of this nature. I attempted to reconcile the situation with the shop, but the experience was extremely disappointing. Staff were dismissive, walked away from me, and were unwilling to have a productive conversation. The customer service at this point was very poor. Later, I received an email offering 50% off a motherboard replacement. This offer felt like an acknowledgment that something went wrong during the original repair, yet no full responsibility was taken. While the service initially seemed professional when payment was being made, that professionalism disappeared when an issue arose. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I cannot recommend this business. I strongly advise others to consider alternative repair shops in the Southgate area.

I spent a couple weeks gathering all the components I've been eyeing and made the pilgrimage down to Micro Center (in Tustin) to take advantage of a great MOBO/Proc/RAM bundle. The last time I built a PC was in 2008 and at this point in my life, I just wanted an expert to help me get everything running and optimized. Gar was that expert. This guy knows his stuff and I couldn't be happier with my (first) experience at Helix. He runs the shop by himself and is clearly a lifelong PC enthusiast. It was really cool to see all his customers more 'aesthetic' builds that were in progress. I'm old so I wanted something with as little RGB as possible (haha). He even has a mini museum of PC components from decades past on display which really sent me down a VERY nerdy memory lane. He put together a 9800X3D / 5080 air cooled monster and everything runs perfectly. He optimized Win11 and walked me through everything he did when I picked up the machine. I easily bring up the internet page (btw Super fast) logged into whatever site I needed. since I needed to download a doc. I ask the guy if it was okay to download and he gave the green light. I download doc. printed it and payed our fee. which was 2.50 for about 20 mins of pc time and 2 pages printed out. We also needed a fax and figured what the hey lets ask if they do faxing here and they do! Isn't that awesome! The dead computer was back up and running within minutes of my arrival. It was amazing. Dell had told me that the desktop could not be repaired for a reasonable price and that I needed to buy a new one. It turned out that a Dell bios upgrade had gone bad and literally burned up the two video cards in the PC. Martin had it booted and running before Cody and I were even done talking. The clone job was to take a couple of days to get the new SSD drive and clone it. In fact, Cody called the next morning and said it was done and ready to be picked up. This company is absolutely amazing. Their service goes beyond all expectations. And the price they charged was most reasonable. I highly recommend them. They are network specialists too.

When I picked up the "repaired" laptop, no programs or apps opened and CD reader didn't work either. I called Cody's Technologies and they were able to redo the competitor's mistakes and make everything work perfectly. They were easy to communicate with and did great work. I'll be taking my computer work there from now on.
