I had lost a Pearl necklace I loved and thankfully I had a few photos on my phone's camera roll wearing it. I had been told by a friend about CA Jewelers, so I stopped in. I met Suzie their friendly gemologist (turns out it is a local family business in the Jewelers Row district) and not only was she patient and kind, but she realized that this was a sentimental piece and took extreme care to help me recreate it without breaking the bank. The day I came to pickup the custom necklace, there was a gorgeous ring that caught my eye in the display case but at that time, it was not something I was ready to buy. Then seven months later, I still had that ring on my mind so I called to make my appointment, Suzie said she had added it to my profile last time so she would be able to help me better when I was ready. When I came in, she pulled several rings similar in design, size and pricepoint for me to try - I ended up getting exactly what I wanted! There are many places to shop in Jewelers Row which can feel overwhelming and so many of them to me felt pushy and overly pricey, but I would highly recommend CA Jewelers and specifically do ask for Suzie for a great honest and personal experience. Shopping on jeweler's row, this was our worst experience on the whole street. We came looking for a pendant for my mom and the young man helping us didn't know any of the prices, couldn't make any recommendations, and didn't know the selection. At one point, we picked out a very simple pendant that actually cost more somehow than the more complex and intricate ones, and we asked him how that could be possible. He told us he'd have to ask a manager.... but didn't call one over. He just sat futzing with the jewelry displays for at least 2 full minutes while we just stood staring at him. When we finally left in disgust, he cheerily reminded us of their hours and said he hoped we'd find something the next time we came. Definitely no next time for us! read more

My wedding ring was made in California, as well as the band. The band was made without the ring at a later date, so the jeweler did the best they could to match the band to the ring using a mold. (I'm a bride that postponed wedding 4 times so the thought of losing my original wedding ring in the mail was not something I wanted to risk too). Anyway, the band had a slight gap and didn't hug the wedding ring perfectly. I went to a few jewelers in the area who said since the band had stones, they couldn't bend it without compromising the band. Last resort was CA Jewelers. They were so nice, explained what they would do, had it done in 4 hours! It hugs the ring to perfection now!! This place is the best and I'm so beyond happy now!! If I could give CA Jewelers more than 5 stars, I would. Everyone we interacted with was lovely, but Susie especially is such a sweetheart. She was so thorough and patient throughout the entire process of designing an engagement ring for us. She took the time to explain the pros and cons of each type of metal, showed us many different sizes of diamonds, and gave us her honest feedback when it came to the feasibility of the design we had in mind. Like other reviewers have mentioned, we did not feel pressured at all, and it is clear Susie does everything she can to ensure her clients are happy with the final result. Susie let us look around for as long as we wanted, but the band we ended up loving was the one she suggested after only a few minutes of discussing the elements we were looking for. The ring was gorgeous, well-made, and priced fairly. For fun, I tried to design a similar ring on Brilliant Earth, and it actually ended up being more expensive for a lower quality ring. I have been a customer of CA Jewelers for 23 years. They designed my engagement ring back in the late 90's and are currently working on resetting of my diamond into a new custom ring. My husband and I just happened to walk into their store when we started talking about getting married two decades ago, and we instantly knew we had met our jeweler for life. We have purchased other custom work from CA including the pearl and diamond earrings and necklace I wore on my wedding day, a diamond pendant, several pairs of earrings, and a wedding ring update for my husband after his Christian Bauer moving line wedding ring got so thinned down that it was cutting his finger. CA is a family run business with very warm and friendly customer service, competitive pricing, fair and honest business practices, and creative designs. I highly recommend calling or emailing and asking for Susie. You will feel like you are speaking with a knowledgeable friend. She is very open and giving of her time, and is not at all pushy. She will work within your budget and take time to explain options and show you lots of examples. She makes me feel like I am her most important customer. There wasn't anything I liked already made so I chose 3 rings and told Susie what I liked about each. She designed a custom made palladium wedding band with 26 full cut round diamonds set in a channel setting and fifty full cut round diamonds set on the profile in the channel setting, with a milgrained band. It was absolutely beautiful and I've had a lot of compliments on it. Cost: $2,500 My husband bought a palladium wedding band with a vertical brush in center and high polished edges. I came here to get my ring appraised for insurance purposes. I've been researching several jewelry stores in jeweler's row trying to find a credible jeweler who appraise the ring for me AND someone I can trust since I will be leaving my ring with them to appraise. A friend of mine recommended me to see Susie Lam at C.A. Jewelers and told me that I would be in good hands once I meet her. And yes, my friend was right. Susie is very nice and sweet. I dropped my ring off for her to appraise and went back to work since it was during my lunch. She took about an hour and half to appraise my ring and cleaned it for me making it super shiny! This review probably won't be useful for those that are looking to purchase rings/jewelries, but if you want to get your ring appraised I'd go here and meet with Susie Lam. OK - So I had to go back to CA Jewelers because a week after my wedding I realized there was a CRACK in my band. I took it in and they fixed it within an hour, which was great... The reason for the 2 star review is two-fold (1) The fact that my ring had a crack in it at all was really disappointing in and of itself. I realize that I have a delicate ring that had intricate engraved details, but even still. It was disappointing. (2) When I returned to CA Susie was very kind, helpful and accommodating - I left my ring there and returned in an hour. Everyone I interacted with when I came to pick up the ring was very rude and cold to me. Was it because I left a sub-par Yelp review? You can read my other yelp reviews - I am overwhelmingly positive (this is actually my first 2 star review), but CA really rubbed me the wrong way and I felt that I should share the experience. My fiancé and I had a great experience here! We were treated warmly and were just walk-ins. I love my ring and loved that we could walk out the same day with it. The only reason that we don't have 5 stars is because there was a small snafu with the pricing of the ring. Our documents said the ring was 18k white gold, but when we got home, realized it was stamped 14k. CA Jewelers were awesome about getting the documents corrected for us for insurance, but it felt a little weird that they said their 14k and 18k white gold settings were priced the same. (They did not change the value of the ring for insurance) I asked around to some folks more savvy than I (who work behind the scenes at other diamond suppliers) and they said that didn't sound quite right. So, while we love the engagement ring and loved working with CA, there is a tiny part of me that feels like maybe we got taken for a small ride. We bought my engagement ring from CA after a recommendation from my friend's husband, who bought her ring from them. We worked with Leon, who could not have been more accommodating. I showed him a picture of a ring I liked and he looked at similar settings. The first setting he showed us was perfect. I wanted rose gold for the setting and Morganite as the center stone. Leon assured me that they could make the setting in rose gold in-house, but said he would have to track down a Morganite for me. Not twenty minutes after we left, he called to say he had one - it was the perfect color and the perfect size. We had to go back and forth a few times due to us being crazy busy and being on vacation, and Leon was very helpful every time. I also spoke with Susie on a few occasions and she was lovely too. My ring was completed in great time - it didn't take weeks and weeks but it's still evident that a lot of care went into making it. My fiancee and I randomly picked this store to stroll into on Jeweler's Row. Susie was great - very unpretentious and friendly. My fiancee shopped around the other stores and eventually came back to these guys for the final purchase, which he says was a great deal compared to the other stores he looked at. Not only that, but when we came back in after the proposal (he could've sworn I liked the princess diamonds even though I liked round, etc) they took back the ring he bought, and custom designed my ring to have a lower setting and channel set diamonds on the side (instead of pave) since I work in emergency medicine and do a lot with my hands. Took my wife's engagement and wedding bands in to get the fused and cleaned up, as well as my own band to have it bumped up a 1/4 size. A lot of the jewelers along Wabash have a bit of a shady feel to them, but CA was very clean and well put together. I brought the rings in around 1pm and they were done by 5pm. Wife fell in love with a multi-color sapphire tennis bracelet, but we didn't get it at the time. Weeks later, after returning home and some checking around, we found that the price they offered was VERY reasonable, and when considering the quality of their piece - it was a BARGAIN! I've been here and in person, they are nice and very personable. However, I don't think they have that great of a service when dealing with clients over the phone or net. I went into the shop to look for a ring for my long time girlfriend and they were nice and helpful however we weren't able to find the ring design we were looking for. We ended that meeting with me making plans to send them the exact design I would like with the specifications that I would like. A few weeks after my visit I email the rep that I spoke with and she wasn't around. I kept calling and when I finally connected our conversation was lackadaisical. She didn't read emails that I sent her, they made no attempts at getting me any quotes and one person says one thing and the other the another. It was just very confusing to me. My fiance (now husband) and I had purchased a 2mm platinum wedding band for me online but we found that next to the vintage engagement ring he had given me that the 2mm band seemed gigantic! Less and 2mm bands are tough to find online, save for customer places like etsy. I wanted to try on the ring before I bought it, and so we headed down to Jeweler's Row to hopefully find one. After a few stores we were starting to think that no place carried a ready-made band the width we were looking for. But CA Jewelers had one! Maybe it was fate--I don't know if they normally carry this style in stock--but they sized it same day and we walked out of the Loop an hour later with my wedding band. I probably went back to see the poor girl 4-5 different times, each time making her painstakingly show me different setting and diamond combo options. She was extremely patient with me and spent whatever time I needed to feel comfortable with what I was buying. She never once tried to up-sell me. She just wanted me to be happy with the ring. They were also very fairly priced. I finally made the purchase. After giving it to my now fiance, we realized I got it a bit too big and CA happily resized it for us. My husband proposed to me thirteen years ago with a diamond solitaire. I loved it but have always wanted to put it in a nicer setting. Fast forward to current day. I had diamond earrings left to me by my grandparents, along with a few other diamond studs and brought them into CA Jewelers hoping that they could incorporate them into a ring design (for both an engagement ring and an eternity band). My mother in law has been seeing Susie for years for all of her jewelry, and has referred several friends and family members. All of them have been happy with their purchases, so I thought that was a good place to start. Susie was amazing right from the beginning. I had emailed her pictures in advance of our appointment. When I arrived she had printed them out, and had already selected rings in the store that were similar to show me. She patiently walked me through many design ideas and had wonderful suggestions. Once we settled on a design, she e-mailed me a picture of the wax mold for me to preview. I loved it, but when I walked in the next week to see the final product, I was blown away. The rings were stunning! CA Jewelers is a family business and Susie's father, who set the diamond rings, came out to tell me how much he had enjoyed making them. And this was no easy feat- the diamonds were not all the same size and some were tapered, which made them challenging to incorporate into the ring design. The price for the work was more than reasonable, and I felt that the customer service was great, especially considering that I bought my rings during the busiest time of the year (the week before Xmas!). I will be going back for all my jewelry needs and highly recommend that you do the same. read more

I didn't know where to start when I wanted to modify my engagement ring. Jewelers row seemed intimidating, as I was not sure who to trust. CA Jewelers was excellent! They ultimately took all the steps in helping me take a simple stone and transpose it into my perfect ring. I panicked about the "blank slate", but Susie was able to view the full collection of bits and pieces I liked about some rings, add 14 tiny diamonds from my grandmother's necklace, and place it in a design that lets me use my hands for my profession in the medical field. She researched pictures that she thought I may like, then fused my 2 favorite designs. The mold her father made (as he is the jeweler in the family business) was slightly different than i envisioned, so he modified it to my liking. The final product delivered a design i loved and added sentiment with my grandmother's stones. I probably was not the easiest client, and every single person in this shop was extremely helpful.
