I went to this place to get a new battery put in my Movado watch. This was the first time my watch has ever gotten serviced. The lady that helped me told me that the person that would service the watch was not in and would it would take a couple of days. A few days later they call me and tell me that the watch isn't working with the new battery. I thought it was weird that it wasn't working since it was before the battery dies. So I took it to the Swap o Rama flea market and the gentleman there opened the watch and told me that they bent a piece that holds the battery in place. He said instead of removing the piece probably by removing the screws they tried to pry it out and in turn scratching the pieces and bending the piece. So he ended up ordering the replacement parts and fixed it for me. I wouldn't recommend this place. If you do happen to do business here be very careful because if they are doing this type of work, I can imagine where else they're cutting corners or deceiving customers. Whether it's with watches or gold jewelry that they sell or buy. I mean, I got my watch fixed at a flea market for God sakes. read more

My mother bought a pair of hoops from this store. I did not even get to wear them. As I tried to unhook the lock, I noticed that the earring had slightly bent out of shape because the earring was so thin for the lock. I was mortified that my mother had paid $350 for this gold jewelry that was very light in weight and flimsy for the lock. I went to the store with my mother, who has dementia BTW, and did not understand their no return policy. They falsely insisted that I had worn the earring which I had not. After arguing with them, they said they would repair them but at a cost. I did not accept this fix, so they gave me a credit for $150 but said that they would order other hoops and would not charge anything extra. The implication was that the replacements would be at the same price as the original $350. The replacements were just as flimsy and unattractive. They were unacceptable and they would not issue a credit for the full amount or return the money spent. These people are unethical, liars, sell cheap jewelry at exorbitant prices. This jewelry place is a total rip off. I went in a while back (before pandemic) to see how much I could get for my gold and person just took a couple hundreds for me to take and sign the waiver fast. Felt bothered when I ask simple basic questions and of course he did because he just wanted to rip me off out of my gold knowing good and well that all the gold I gave them was so heavy (which by the way they never show me the weight in scale) it was worth so so much more than what they were offering. Both on google and yelp. I went in on 12/18/19 with this necklace and asked them if they would be able to mend it. The necklace was broken in a perfectly vertical. I called them 12/20/19 to ask about a text I was supposed to receive and they informed me it was ready. Initially they told me it wouldn't be done until after the New Years. Completely understandable, so I was a bit shocked it only took a day and a half. Boy, when I got there and saw the end result I was blown away. The lady handing me the necklace didn't even want to give it to me because the job looked like a middle school child mended it in their home-eco class. I was speechless. There was discoloration all over the back. It looked like someone squirted super glue on the back and tried to sand it down I mean I wanted to cry. I wish I would've taken a picture of the original job. If the job couldn't be done I would have rather them be upfront and honest rather then rush and do more harm to something I've had since birth. The owner gave excuse after excuse on the work his employee put in. He then insisted on "fixing" the issue even though I was SUPER hesitant. After an hour I came back and this is the result. As you can see there is still a bit of a hard scratch over the left side of the E but it's a hell of a lot better than what the original job looked like and for that I give them 1 star. Back in September 2021 I took a woman's ring size 7 to get resized to a 6.5 I paid $65 for this service which was reasonable. The lady who helped me yuri told me she has to speak with the person who does this service since it was a white gold rings with diamonds on the band, she came out and said 65$ would be the price. I agree and the service was done. I get the ring and it's a fairly good job yet the inside does not feel as smooth as I would have liked but nonetheless I made no fuss about it. Fast forward to February 2022 I take the same ring and tell them I need it a half size smaller to a 6. Now keep in mind I remember how much I paid for this service beforehand and it is the exact same ring, the lady goes and talks to the person who sizes , "that will be $150" I said wait a minute this is the same ring which was done for 65$ a few months ago, why the huge price hike, she grabs the person from the back and she states it's due to the quality of metal and diamonds on the ring I say yes I understand the ring is of great quality but why the huge spike in price I paid 65$ last time. She states they raised they're prices for the new year... from 65$ to $150 that's an almost 150% price increase!!! Ridiculous, they will try to rip off people I originally came as a friend highly recommended this place. They bought into the "hype" this store has created and overvalue the Jewelry they sell"thin and flimsy" and the services they provide. The employees rush and are not as welcoming as one hopes either. Took my ring to James and sons in orland park and paid $60 for a resize the receipt from the jeweler had the details I provided from the article of description certificate of the ring along with a picture weight type of stones everything! I went in on Monday to ask about replacing the links on my Religious Bracelet. Manager quotes me 6 inches of chain which was 9.4 grams of Gold. Total $675.00 plus I get my old gold back. Returned that Friday with $200.00 cash deposit. ( Not needed, my choice) They text me 3 days later on Monday. I drive over & it looks great. Before paying my balance I asked them to weigh they bracelet. I dropped it off at 7.4 grams & not it's at 10.4 grams. So they only put on 3.1 grams, not the 9.4 grams I was quoted. Plus my old chain was not included with the bracelet. After arguing with Manager. I got my old gold back & payed $380. total. Still not happy about being given a quote of $72.00 a gram to paying $120.00 a gram. Been going there since 1998 , but no more. read more

Not a place to get a watch fixed. I brought in a vintage Buliva that had recently fallen off of my wrist and was no longer running. I'm in the neighborhood, so I figured I would give Torres Omar a try. They came back with a $150 repair estimate, which I could not afford. If this was all, I would have been completely happy and satisfied. Unfortunately, it took more than 3 weeks for them to return my watch. Everytime I called or stopped by, they said their watch repair person was not in and they did not have the watch. Each time they said it would be there the following Monday. Each time it was not. When I finally received my watch back, it was missing gears and had Rodico watch cleaning putty stuck throughout it. The watch repairman must have tinkered with the watch and then for got to put parts back in or remove any of the putty. Do not go here for watch repair. read more

Great customer service! I had been wearing both my engagement ring and wedding band over a full size too big for well over a year before I finally got my lazy self together to actually get it re-sized. They re-sized both rings within an hour and it only cost $40! Their reps on the floor were very friendly and willing to answer any of the questions my hubs had regarding the watches they had in their displays. They cleaned our rings while waiting. My only pre-cautionary advice is, be careful if your ring has a specific finish to it (brushed) because these guys polish the metal to a brilliant shine - which may in fact, polish off the finish. That's more on us than anything though. Would not hesitate to return! read more

My eldest son gifted me a unique watch for my bday and unlike other watches where the manufacturer can send links to adjust fit, this one was a doozy as it had two strands of braided leather and then the clasp. Wow! I'd been afraid to get my silver wedding ring re-sized because I thought it would cost a lot. I also knew it would be difficult to re-size because both the engagement and wedding bands have small diamonds embedded in them. These types of diamonds usually fall out if the ring is re-sized. I finally got the guts to go to Torres-Omar. This location is fluent in Spanish as well as English. Other companies I called said it would take a few days to re-size a silver ring, but Torres-Omar did it in 30 minutes! They resized (increased 1.5 sizes), sodered, polished, and cleaned it...all only for $50! They warned me the diamonds could fall out, but they didn't. I thought they would criticize my ring because it was silver, but they didn't; they were very kind, respectful, and helpful--and in no way overbearing. They did an incredibly beautiful job. My husband and I thought it looked better than new. While we were waiting, we looked at other wedding rings they had that were similar to mine. I thought they would cost a lot, but they were very, very affordable, even compared to bargains I'd seen online. I will definitely be going back here! read more

I asked for a simple battery replacement in my Timex. After leaving the store I noticed my watch simply wasn't running. The second hand wasn't moving at all. When I phoned back I was told my watch probably needed to be cleaned. Short on time, I took the watch next day to a local jeweler who showed me the watch hadn't been put back together properly. The contacts had been bent so that the new battery ($10 at Torres Omar) got shorted out. I just had my local jeweler fix the contact and put in a brand new battery. My watch is now running without problem. On the same visit I had an adjustment made to a pair of silver Mexican earrings. The repair was done, but the earrings were put in a solution which removed all tarnish. The result was a change in the appearance of the silver to the point that it was so flawlessly bright it looks like plastic. Now I'm waiting for the earrings to tarnish up again. I wish I'd been asked about the tarnish removal beforehand. read more

One of the tiny pave diamond stones fell off my engagement ring's band while I was cleaning it in my ultrasonic cleaner. I managed to find the stone though but needed it replaced. Last time this happened I took it back to the jeweler it came from and they replaced it, no charge. But their location in Lemont is hard to get to when you live and work in the city....yelp to the rescue! This place is close to work. Liked this place's good reviews plus the fact that it says they can fix jewelry anytime. When I brought it in they said it might take up to 45 mins- so I just left it and went to work. Picked it up after work and looks perfect. Charged me $30, which I think is a bit too much. read more

I can't compare to any other jeweler since this was my first time visiting one, but I will say that my experience would probably disappoint most folks. I was getting my engagement ring resized and a few necklace chains repaired. The latter cost $10 a pop, which I'm inclined to say was a bit on the pricy side consider the breakages were very simple. As for the ring, I was asked to size my finger myself, which seemed a bit lazy on their end and resulted in a ring that is still a tad bit too large. When I returned for the ring the next day, I noticed that one of the four outer stones had come disconnect from the base and was jutting out noticeably. They asked me to come back in an hour so they could fix it. When I returned, the bracket they'd fixed was now bent out of shape and the prongs were crooked. I couldn't believe they didn't do a once over this second time. I was told to hold on a minute and just sat there waiting for 15 minutes, wondering if I ought to leave and come back yet again. After all was said and done, they were apologetic but offered no discount or coupons or anything. I'm happy enough with the final product but not sure I like having to do my own quality control. read more
