The middle aged woman, Lida or whatever her name is cannot cut hair, unfortunately. She only had to trim it up and long layer the sides, which failed miserably at. I have been to this place before to get my eyebrow done by Jaya and I never had any complaints. She was very quick and I never felt hurt. This time when Jaya was not around I tried getting it done from NIMI and I had a terrible experience. She took 20-25 mins to get the eyebrow done (who takes this long?) On top of it, she made one eyebrow small and one big. I had mentioned to her to just clean the eyebrows and not to make them smaller. She did it so badly that my brow area was hurting so much and It was all red for the rest of the evening. Please do NOT get your eyebrows done from NIMI - terrible job! read more

I have been going to see C&C unisex hair design for several years and Beth has been my hairdresser and I've ever walked away disappointed. She seems to know exactly what I need and we always get it done as if she reads my mind. [[HIGHLIGHT]]She's very pleasant and a very kind person.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Although there's been times when I needed a haircut on the fly and couldn't get back, I've used some other girls and I've had good results. You know it's really quick to point the finger on someone that might make a mistake with these girls try very hard to make us happy when we walk in and they don't know us half the time if we walk in and we really don't have these women as our hairdressers all the time they are there to do a job and they are not there to mess up our heads. They do their best and we go in and we complain about these minor things like three dollars for a haircut this so that maybe they should make signs that say these problems like three dollars extra for a wash or all these things that were complaining about but let's be kind of one another. We're all out Jamaica a living and we do the best we can we don't go to work looking to wreck somebody's hair or to rip off somebody. I'm sure this is not their intent. I think it's sad that we go in with the mindset to come out and write a bad report on someone who charged an extra three dollars and didn't show the back of our heads when we walked out of the salon. Now I read this and I don't know who it was that said that and I'm sorry I don't mean to be harsh, but I think we are lucky to go in and to be able to have the work done that we get done and for the most part I have no complaints at all if you have a complaint, try someone else and realize that we are all doing our best. Can't say much because I really just had a quick touch up on layers but it looked good. The place was packed but they are pretty fast.

HUGE REGRET. NOT WORTH THE RISK. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! This place is SO hit or miss. If you have not been recommended a specific stylist then do not go here. I went in for a trim and long layers and left with 4 inches of my hair on the ground and the choppiest uneven mess. I asked she only take off an inch and then blend long layers back in. I showed her a picture to make sure she had a visual. She waved me off, saying no problem, but it was too late when I realized that she was cutting off a lot more than I had asked. I can deal with the length, it's these choppy layers that stick out at odd angles that I can't get to look halfway decent. My bangs are now longer than the layers on the side of my head... ‍ The whole time she cut my hair she was being so negative about how the previous person cut my hair...who unbeknownst to her was another woman at that salon who actually did a good job and that's why I went back there! She also cut my hair SO FAST without taking the time to make sure the pieces she was cutting were going to fall back into the right place. She didn't even wet it or put any product in when she blew it out. I went in at 10:45am and I didn't know she had an appointment at 11am until a man took the seat next to me to wait for her to be done. That explained the rush, but I wish she would have actually paid attention to what I asked and took the time to shape it instead of literally going at it like Edward Scissorhands on some shrubbery. I'm never going back - you're better off spending money at a quality salon with stylists that actually care about what you want and take the time to make sure they cut it correctly! I'll be going to a more professional salon nearby to get this fixed. read more

This is a long one ... I have been going here for around 15 years. Of course, during that time I would get haircut that I didn't like but very seldom or I wouldn't be a 15 year client. Yesterday I went for a much needed trim. My stylist wasn't there so they gave me Cindy. My daughter was also getting a trim with another stylist and was walking in front of me and Cindy. My daughter has beautiful, long blonde hair. She has also been going here for 15 years. Cindy starts saying how she doesn't cut long hair and my daughter has too much hair. It came out not very nice so she followed up with ' I'm not saying it isn't pretty ' She them blurts out that my daughter's hair is green from too much chlorine and needs clarifying shampoo (although she couldn't remember the name). She then confronts my daughter that is with another lady. We don't have a pool. We swim in a lake. It is not from chlorine. Her hair was dyed blue and it is still faint on her hair. Now I get in the chair, per her direction, then she orders me to get up because she has to pull the chair back. She asks me what we are doing today and I told her to trim about an inch to 2" off with some layers. I showed her where to cut on my hair. She asked me to show her on my body where I wanted my hair to go to. I told her just brushing my shoulders and showed her. She then said where I showed her is not my shoulder, it is my neck and proceeded to showed me where my shoulder is. I have curly hair so she is telling me it will be longer when it is wet and she is stretching my hair down my arm. OK Einstein, I am 59 years old, thanks for letting me know that. She orders me to look up at her in the mirror asking me again where I wanted my hair to go to. She told me that she was taught, 42 years ago, to cut hair from the back not the sides. I told her again to take about an inch or so. She replied ' unfortunately we don't have rulers here. ' ( I was thinking, since you have been cutting hair for 42 years, you shouldn't need a ruler to know what an inch is ) . She then smirked at me and let her shoulders drop (or was it her damn neck) like I was a real problem. I told her that she was really stressing me out and I would wait for my regular stylist to be in. She replied ' that is a good idea' . Then I was outside the salon , sitting on a bench, waiting for my daughter. Cindy walked by the wall of windows and glared at me the entire length, to the extent she had to turn her head. A real piece of work she is. .... Hey Cindy , I have very bad Psoriatic Arthritis and it took so much for me to come in to get my haircut. I go out very seldom unless it is a doctor's appointment. I just wanted to make myself feel better, like haircuts do. Instead I walked out of there feeling worse than when I went in, without a haircut and holding back tears. You never know what a person is going through. At your ripe age, you think you would have learned that by now. You should be fired. To C & C , I am never coming back there. This is the kind of employees you have working there? And it is tolerated? She should be packing up her scissors. The owner did offer to have someone else cut my hair and I declined. read more

It's hit or miss. When they hit it's decent. When they miss I have to wonder if they have any standards to hire these hairdressers. I had someone named Rosemary who left me with big clumps of long hair on my side, a huge mound sticking out of the back of my head and no blending from the sides to the top. I had to try to make it somewhat presentable when I got home so I wouldn't be embarrassed going out in public. Thinking back I don't see how she could be a professional or had any real training. I got a phone call last night and I have to go and be in the city ( NYC) Monday at 8 AM so being so unplanned I needed a haircut fast. I tried to make an appointment at several other high end hair places but nobody could accommodate me on such short notice so I had to go with a "walk in" place. I was planing for Super Cuts but the Mall happened to be closer so I went in and chose C&C unisex hair design. I am always in a rush so I always prefer not to shampoo or style unless I'm going somewhere after the cut. Melissa was my hairdresser this time and she did a good job. I showed her a photo and told her to do her best. I'm usually not picky as long as you do what the picture shows. She made me accept the blow dry because she said she likes to cut on dry hair also and wants to see how it looks yadda yadda. I said okay just because I don't like to be a B*#^% and she also said she will be quick. She was pretty fast, she did what I wanted and she did it very well. She also waxed my eyebrows and it was a job well done. I will probably go back to her next time because I see no reason not too. Oh, and all this it cost me $28 (cut and eyebrows) plus the tip, of course. So... This place is what I love. Fast, no frills and big. read more

Sal, the owner I'm told, IS NOT mindful of his customers time. I was given a 10 AM appointment and was told I would be the hair dresser's FIRST appointment. I arrived a few minutes early and waited 10 - 15 minutes before sitting in the chair. Come to find out it was because SAL gave the hair dresser a client with no regard for scheduled clients. When I voiced my frustration to Sal, who was running the front desk, he replied that the hair dresser had a previous appointment. He tried to put the blame on the hair dresser! i took my boyfriend here once and they did a great job BUT when i took him a second time, Dino did his haircut. He cut his neck, in two different spots! The hair cut was incredibly uneven, and when they offered to fix it, they almost made it worse. The haircut was so bad, that he had to go and buy a hat to cover his head! would NOT recommend to anyone!! especially not the kid hairdresser they had doing it! I was more than disappointed. I left with a haircut that was chopped and eighties looking. I went back within 5 minutes and the Italian jackass at the counter said that's was what my hair was and I only asked for a clean up. Whatever he thought I wanted it wasn't to cry a very nice stylist offered to fix it , I just couldn't accept help to fix what they did. I had hair all over my neck inside my shirt in my ears. Like some have said in their reviews this place can be a hit or miss depending on who they pick to do your hair. I haven't gone back to this place since 2019 I doubt I ever will go back here. I started going to C&C off and on since 2014 when the cranky guy use to manage it (He a mail carrier from what I was told from a hair stylist that use to work at the hair salon downstairs across from Target when it was still there.) Stay away from this place!!! On 9/15 my daughter walked in asking to trim (just 1") her beautiful long hair. I too gave clear instructions to just wash, trim and blow, nothing else (I was very specific this time because the time before C&C charged me $60.00 for trimming my daughter's hair, they said they had applied all sorts of expensive product - product no one asked for- to her hair). My daughter was getting ready for the upcoming school picture day and wanted to make her hair look healthier by cutting off split ends. I left them for a few minutes to get cash for tip. Half hour later my daughter walked out of the salon crying. She looked like she'd been attacked by a psycho with a pair of scissors! She told me she was all tears, asked the hairdresser repeatedly to stop cutting but was completely ignored, the woman just kept chopping away, a chunk of hair here, a chunk there. All uneven. To add insult to injury, unbelievably rude staff refused to give me the name of that so-called "hairstylist" that ruined my daughter's hair. One woman at the reception said "I don't know her" (great!), the other said "can't tell you" (even better). Eventually someone said she was Chris or Kris. While every hairstylist is required to be licensed to provide services to public in NY (and I think also to display that license) at C&C of Poughkeepsie, apparently, a customer has no right to that information. No "We are sorry" either. Honestly, I felt comfortable leaving my 15 year old daughter with the hairdresser without supervision for a few minutes because I thought that any hairstylist was capable, after having been given clear instructions, of giving a simple trim and of listening to the customer. I was wrong. It was a shocking and extremely unpleasant experience that caused so much distress especially to my daughter two days before the school picture day. This was beyond unprofessional and unqualified. I know that my daughter's hair will eventually grow and will be as long and beautiful as before, but she should have been put through this experience and nobody should be. A genuine "we are sorry" and "please give us an opportunity to fix it" was an order. Just terrible read more

Coming here is always a gamble. You can get either get the best unexpected haircut you could possibly receive or a woman poking you in the eye with the scissors as she gossips with friends as they walk in at the same time sexting her boyfriend on her phone... yes, this happened to me. Not to mention the guy at the front is often rude and lazy. We have tried asking him for someone specific but didn't know her name but had a decent description of her and he just quickly replies, "Everyone here has hair like that. Get someone else or go somewhere else." He refused to help or console in anyway. By the way, this man is still working here and I can tell he doesn't get along with customers. They can go through so many hair stylists but not replace the guy up front. At least the place is quite cheap instead of going someplace to pay $30something for a trim with tip. read more

This place is awful. I've been getting my eyebrows threaded here for a few months, it's convenient and the ladies do a nice job at the front. I decided to get my eyebrows waxed this time, and that was a MISTAKE. As you can see from the photo, my skin was completely taken off of my face where the wax was. These are not burns, because the wax was luke warm at best, this is literally just my skin REMOVED. After going back about 20-30 minutes after my wax and the normal redness and irritation began to subside and I realized my SKIN WAS GONE, the manager proceeded to ask me if I wanted any cream for them, and told me it was my fault that my skin came off because I "must have moisturized before I came" which I've gotten my eyebrows waxed for many years and that's never been a problem. After telling him that's impossible because I've had my eyebrows waxed before and my skin hasn't ever been RIPPED OFF, he then told me I have sensitive skin. I don't care if you have skin made of paper, it shouldn't literally come off of your face when you get waxed. I finally got a refund from him and because I work in the mall, I'll make sure my customers and coworkers are aware not to come here. read more

Came here to get my hair dyed because it was close to my house and seemed to have a good amount of business. Well the first time it was suppose to be grey and black spent 5 hours there And in the end it was a dark grey and brown and spent 150 to do that so figured it's not exactly what I wanted but it will work so waited a day to wash my hair and by the very next day after it all washed out I had blond and brown hair now light blonde. So I went back made another appt because they said they will fix it and explained since the very didn't hold to do blue tips well she dyed my whole head blue light on the bottom and dark on top and then they charged me another 40.00 to dye it again, then I waited 3 days to wash my hair afraid of the same thing so by the 4th day I washed my hair and it almost all came out. Now my hair is green n brown. So I went back to get my money back and they argued with me said it was my water and would only give me a gift card for the 150.00. Never going back again the owner is horrible and won't even work with you on anything. read more

I've gone here before for a trim with no problems and my son has an awesome hairdresser here. Maybe it's my fault for not knowing who specifically to go to, but I hate my hair. I just wanted the dead hair cut-about 3 inches-with light layering to at the bottom to match what I had and a face framing layer at my collarbone. I specifically said no shorter or it's in my face and I can't stand that. She cut about 8 inches off with heavy short layers in my face after a rough wash and burning my scalp more than once with the dryer. I didn't like that style in 2003 and I like it even less now. I'm so pissed that she did not do what I wanted and I'm stuck til it all grows out. Seriously never again. read more

I am a 32 yo male and I am very particular about my hair. That being said I have been going to this hair salon and a lady named Odilia has been cutting my hair for about three years. I get compliments all the time and she has ALWAYS cut it perfect. Oh and not to mention she's been cutting my sons hair since he was a baby. He's three, she is fantastic with kids and he absolutely adores her. Sometimes when he's bad we threaten that he won't get his hair cut, she makes it such a positive experience. I used to go to c and c all the time a couple years ago but I switched hairdressers and now she is retired so i came back. I approached the front desk and next to a very sweet blonde girl there was an old man with gray hair and glasses also at the desk. He did not smile at me, he did not say a word he just stared at me and it made me incredibly uncomfortable. I was used to the old manager, Frank. He was a very pleasant man and always had nice things to say and made small talk. I was confused to not see him here and when i asked where he was the "new manager" got very snippy with me. "He doesn't work here no more" is what he said word for word. I asked for a haircut and the young girl called someone over the speaker. I don't remember the name of the hairdresser i had but she was very sweet. After my haircut was completed, I went back up to the desk to pay. Immediately the man stuck out his hand without telling me how much the service was. I looked at him confused and he rudely asked for the "ticket" which I forgot at her station. I walked all the way to the back to retrieve it and when I came back he snatched it from my hand and rang me up. He didn't ask how the service was, he was just rude about the entire situation. He gave me change and that's all that happened between me and him. I couldn't even really understand him because his accent was so thick. I will never come back here and I will be posting about it on facebook and telling my friends about it. It didn't even look like a busy store so I'm confused as to how they are still open especially with a manager who treats customers like they don't matter. He also set off a very creepy vibe.
