We were on our way from LA to Sonoma & had a problem w our car in Paso Robles . The car had to be towed , so our insurance called C&D towing at 11 AM & was told 60-90 min wait . Our engine seized out of the blue on vacation, leaving us stranded by the beach. I'm so grateful to Rick and his dispatcher for getting me off the side of the road after a horrible experience with a roadside assistance provider who "accidentally" cancelled the request after Rick was already almost there. If C&D hadn't called me directly 30 minutes or so later to confirm if I had actually gotten a tow, I might still be waiting for the roadside assistance people to find a tow truck they hadn't cancelled. Both Rick and I were obviously frustrated with the situation but it was something to bond over while we had to refill his truck given the unexpected mileage. They were quick and responsive when my vehicle quit. Additionally, they were willing to take us the additional long distance home on their weekend. Thank You! The job was scheduled through AAA insurance, who had originally booked us with another Towing company (Pete Johnson - Chevy). Watch out for that company who had said they were booked up and couldnt service us for 2 to 3 days, but would only tow us in town and charge us for transport and storage. So we were stranded and AAA was going back and forth with our claim for hours while we were stuck. I recently 2/14 had a dead battery issue with my '22 Ford Explorer. We got stuck up in Big Sur on a Friday. My truck was disabled. Rick got to us quickly and hauled my truck and family of four all safely to San Luis Obispo to a repair shop that he knew would be open on the weekend. Highly recommend for genuine concern and hobesty. I lost my car key while camping at Morro Bay. I live in San Diego and do not have an​ extra key with me while camping. Jennt from Central Coast Lock answered my call, was extremely emphatic and apologized that they didnt have a machine to create a master key for me. She tookthe time to give her advice on whats best to do and again apologized that they wouldnt be able to assist me. I said my gratitude and thought that was it. Later on she sent me a text to express her concern that I'd be stuck at the campground and offered further advice and connect me to Rick from C&D towing since she already knew I'd need to tow it to the Honda dealer at SLO. Her business wasnt going to be able to get paid for helping me but she still did. Same thing with Rick from C&D. Short Review: Best towing company in the area. If you want to be treated like family, and you need help now, not later, then contact C & D towing. This is the company you really want. Gabriel was honestly the best. He was super respectful, super nice and very professional. When you need a tow, call C & D Towing, but if you have insurance, call your insurance first and request 1202 C & D towing. DO NOT CALL PETE JOHNSON TOWING. YOU WILL ABSOLUTELY REGRET IT. Long Review: This company by far is the best towing company in the area. It is always a stressful experience when something goes wrong with your vehicle, but these guys definitely know how to eliminate all that stress. I was coming home from Morro Bay and got stranded a little after passing Paso Robles late Friday night. The vehicle still drove but could not go up hills. Due to COVID, you are not able to ride in the tow truck, so my family had to get a hotel. We came up with a plan to rent a car in the morning and follow the tow truck back. I called my insurance (AAA) first thing in the morning to get a tow, and my insurance company routed me to a horrible tow company called Pete Johnson Towing. I got a call from Pete Johnson Towing saying they could come get my information and pick up my vehicle, but they could not tow my vehicle until late night or early morning. Out of all the years I have been driving (20 years), I have never had a tow company tell me they CAN tow me, but it has to wait until tomorrow. Ridiculous. I told Pete Johnson Towing sorry, but I needed to leave now, and we got off the phone. I called my insurance again and told them what Pete Johnson Towing told me, and I told my insurance to get me another company. My insurance ended up finding another tow company, but the new tow company said they were swamped, and were actually heading in the direction I needed to go, but they were leaving later in the day. They asked if I could wait a few hours, but I let them know I needed to check out soon. They apologized for the inconvenience and we got off the phone. Frustrated I googled "Tow Company" and C & D Towing came. Since I get reimbursed for towing if I pay out of pocket (up to 100 miles) I figured what the heck and I gave them a shot. They had great reviews, so it definitely eased my anxiety. Tracy (Dispatch) was nice and said they could help me asap. They were actually contracted through AAA insurance, so it worked out great. I called my insurance again and told them I wanted C & D Towing. They accidentally sent it off to Pete Johnsons Towing which I didn't know at the time until I got a petty call. Pete Johnson Towing called me up with a smirky attitude and said, "Can't find a ride huh?". Laughing at his remark, I told him "I actually did find a ride." I'm pretty sure me laughing at him pissed him off because like a child, the guy from Pete Johnson Towing said, (Read with spoiled brat attitude) "No you didn't. If you had a ride why is your insurance contacting me then Huh? Huh? Why are they calling me requesting my service Huh? Huh?" I just hung up on him. Our day started out nicely, as we had friends come in from out of town to join us for a Jeep ride from Paso to Cambria. The top was down, the sun was out, and we were enjoying the day as we arrived at Moonstone Beach Bar & Grill for lunch. After lunch we had plans to go to Fiscalini Ranch for a nice walk and wine tasting afterwards but our plans were interrupted when my wife's attempts to start her Jeep failed. Confused, as her Jeep is practically new, we asked someone for a jump, thinking it might be the battery. But these attempts failed. Our tensions mounted as we slowly began realizing our plans for the day were quickly unraveling and contemplated the possible cause of our dilemma. Reluctantly we called our insurance company, for Roadside Assistance. We requested a larger vehicle as there were 4 of us who would require return transportation. We were told our tow would arrive in an hour. We passed the time with a few pressing arguments and drinks to ease our tensions and frustrations. Tony picked us up earler than expected, in what can only be described as the limousine of all tow trucks! He was extremely reassuring, courteous, safety conscious, and very friendly. He quickly turned an otherwise unfortunate circumstance into a serendipitous meeting which helped us look at our situation in a positive light. We were safe!!! He made us feel comfortable, and helped us calm down from from the frustrations we were feeling about our situation and our foiled plans. During our trip, we asked Tony what he thought it could possibly be based on the symptoms. A couple of us were considering the starter or alternator. Tony called ahead for us to AutoZone and got prices on a starter in case we needed one. We arrived at our destination safely and managed to make a new friend in the process. C & D Towing has a very special asset in Tony; without his assistance we would not have enjoyed our ride home, nor would we be looking back on our situation as a fun experience. Thank you C & D Towing for sending your very best, to help us in our time of need. Apparently a tow wasn't all we needed yesterday; we needed uplifting as well. Not only do they run red lights as I watched them do today... they talk on their cell phones while swerving in and out of lanes causing cars to move to avoid them and almost causing wrecks! All I can say is wow!! Rick showed up early, started my RV right up, diagnosed the problem, and told me where to get new batteries for a great price!! Then stupid me accidentally shut the rv off while trying to charge it up & it wouldn't start again. Once again exceptional customer service from C & D Towing. I was having car problems again and needed my car towed to a repair shop in town. They quoted me at the exact same price as last time which, considering I'm on a budget, made me very happy. I was quoted that it would be about 45 minutes before they came by to tow my car. They got here at 40 minutes. That's what I like about them. They're always here when they tell you they will be and in my case today, a bit earlier too. It's welcomed. Even though we have AAA they charged my 16 year old son $500 on the spot to pull him out of the mud in a rural area just off the side of the road which took all of 5 minutes. The owner told me that the drivers are paid a portion of the cost of the call, so they incentivize them to charge as much as possible. They also state that if the CHP makes the call for you they charge almost double their regular rates. They could've billed AAA, to see if it was covered but they did not. When I called to complain the owner said he would've rectified the amount overcharged, but since he already paid the driver he refused. Admitting it was wrong to charge that much, but unwilling to fix it because I wasn't able to call and complain right away. They completely took advantage of an innocent kid who didn't know any better than to agree to what he was told. read more
