We were on a road trip in the Central Coast on a Saturday afternoon, when the car began acting out. We looked desperately for a mechanic- everyone we tried in the area could only say: no, no, sorry, can't. We found this towing service through AAA. The three guys we dealt with from this shop were can-do, straight-shooting, problem solvers. It was a huge relief. A young man who looked to be 12 years old (joking) showed up with a flatbed. RJ was incredible! He arrived sooner than quoted, and his positive, can-do attitude made a stressful situation so much easier. None of the chargers in Cambria would charge my Ioniq 5, and I was down to just 1% battery. West Coast Auto & Towing sent a flatbed to take it to SLO. I had issues with my car for awhile , just couldn't quite fix it our selfs ( is the newer diesel technology in it) we were referred by my mother in law , who happened to know the owner from her college days and spoke highly of him. We called made an appointment, was able to drop the car off days prior to the appointment in case they could to it sooner ( since it had to be trailed ) very nice front desk guy upon drop off! Within 2 days we got a call, they had it fixed, and they wanted to drive it some more so they felt 100% it was going home perfect! Long story short, when picking up car , very nice gentleman at the front desk ( different one from before). I'm so beyond thankful for a shop and crew that is confident in their work! They are very fair with their prices to their customers, for the price we paid to fix my car I would have paid that over and over again! And Trust me I've had my fair share of bad shop experiences and mechanics/ businesses that really don't care about your vehicle and just want the money ... but this shop is 100% at your best interest! Trash service. Took truck in for oil pressure switch repair and when we got it back the passenger side mirror was smashed and the front fender was crunched. The paint was scratched and the rim was scuffed. When we brought it to their attention they said it came in like that. They said if we want we can come in next Monday to talk to the manager and when we came in he wasn't there. So that really wasted our time. We tried calling and leaving emails but they never got back to us so clearly they just didn't want to deal with us. They also decided to wash the truck without letting us know which damaged the fresh tint and fucked it up. On top of this, the bolt on the tire they changed out was completely stripped and had to be replaced. Absolutely do not send your vehicle here. If you do, make sure you document the state of your truck through photos and videos before sending it to this place. This way you can take them to small claims so they stop doing this shit to people. Really felt screwed over by these guys, really crappy way to treat customers. read more

David's customer service is impeccable. I have taken two cars in recently for smog checks, it was fast, easy, and affordable.

Horrible value, I got quoted 300$+ for an EGR valve with 400$ of labor costs along with it. I was able to find the part for a little over 100$ did the install myself and it was super simple, it was 4 bolts on the top of the engine and a gasket. Took me 30 minutes, West Coast techs said it was a 2hr job. Stay away, they're looking to cash in on folks who don't know better. My SUV is back up and running no thanks to West Coast. read more

Trash mechanics! I came here for breaks. They claimed I needed all new rotors and pads less than two years ago. Two months later my breaks were shaking going down the grade (which I rarely drive). Go back, ask for Toyota parts to be installed to replace the cheap china parts. They instead used up my warranty and replaced with the same trash parts as they are now shaking again and need to be replaced. Less than two years later!!!! Don't go here. West Coast has a large and loyal customer base because, not only are they reasonably priced, they do good work. They did a great job getting us in and out quickly for a smog check. Liked their service so brought our car back in for an oil change and diagnostic, too. Both services came in lower than their initial cost estimates. Gotta like that. The engine diagnostic confirmed what we thought might be going on, so we asked them for a cost estimate on what would be a major repair. Had to follow up with them a few times, but they finally got the estimate to us, which was significantly lower than what we'd been quoted elsewhere. read more

I called RJ multiple times as I figured out what I needed to do in unfamiliar surroundings & he was calm (as I panicked) and he offered suggestions. First experience for this place was a smog which went smoothly as it should have. The second was to get a component for my engine replaced. What was supposed to take 1.5 days ended up taking 3, with very little communication from them- I had to call MULTIPLE times for an update. And every time I did call the put me on hold immediately for 10-15 minutes! A week later I went to do an oil change and realized the cover they removed was missing. Then the part they replaced was faulty so I had to call multiple more times to get it swapped out. Overall a terrible experience with these guys. Someone needs to coach them on customer service because it's lacking. read more

I am very sad to write this but I feel that this is an interest of public concern and I hate to think of anyone else going through what my family is now going through. On September 4, 2024, my son and I tried to take my beloved Special Edition 2012 Porsche Boxster S Black Edition out ( it is number 179 out of a limited run of 987 made). This was my dream car that my husband and my dad got together to get for me over 10 years ago. Due to what we assumed was a battery issue I called AAA. AAA sent West Coast towing. The young man was pleasant, hooked it up, got in my car, turned it over, took his foot off the clutch while inside the vehicle, put it down in a ditch and back up. My son and I watched horrified. The young man admitted he didn't have much experience with a manual transmission after the accident. The second driver that came out was extremely helpful and apologetic. We were assured the vehicle would be made good as new. Any work performed on the car has always been in Kern County. I specifically wanted my car to be assessed and worked on in Kern County. However, the deductible for the tow company was high ($15,000) and they requested it go to a reputable shop with which they had a relationship, since the tow company was going to be out of pocket instead of filing a claim. The car had been left in my garage overnight so we could decide where we wanted it to go. Because I desperately wanted my car fixed I reluctantly agreed to have it go to the shop they recommended. When my car was moved from the spot it sat in overnight (in my garage) there was a large pool of fluid under it which had NEVER happened before. For what seemed to me as a mechanical issue I would not agree for it to go anywhere but a certified Porche mechanic. (This car is serviced at Porche of Bakersfield.) At which point they did decide to turn it in to their insurance. The Porsche dealership in SLO said the repair required is $13,000-$15,000 which the tow company's insurance denied claim coverage for the leak without inspecting where the accident occurred and after the body was started. It is now nearly Christmas and the paint work is not done properly and we are working on transporting my car to Bakersfield to take it to the Porsche dealership where it has always been worked on. They have admitted liability for the accident but do not want to fix the leak which only appeared after an accident their driver caused. I just felt like I needed to share my experience. Calling for a battery issue has turned into a complete nightmare! read more

I come here for my oil changes, smog checks, etc. I've never had an issue with the guys here. Their prices are fair, they can always get me in in a timely manner and my car seems to run great without issue. I appreciate their honesty and value. Have not needed their towing service (THANKFULLY), so I can't speak to that, but for any other services they've been great! read more
