O'neal's Country Buffet - Fish fry at the buffet on a Saturday night.

So I had to check it out. There are three separate seating areas. Plenty of tables and booths. It's like a lot of other buffets: you seat yourself and serve yourself everything except your drink. You pay at the register when you leave ($15). You can get food to go as well and they will weigh your container. The buffet itself is pretty small but has everything you'd want: grilled chicken, fried chicken, fish, chicken dumplings, mashed potatoes, beans, corn bread, etc. There is a separate salad buffet and dessert buffet. Service was friendly and efficient. Paying was quick and easy. Bathrooms were clean. And did I mention the fried chicken was perfect and the cobbler outstanding?

I don't know exactly how long O'Neal's has been around but I'd say a mighty long time. The building…read moreis plenty worn around the edges, booths have certainly seen better days, but country humor and hospitality abound. They sell seasonal produce from behind the front counter as well. Everyone is super-nice though you won't normally need much interaction with the waitstaff: you just say what you want to drink, they bring it to you, and you go get your buffet. I don't know if there is also a kitchen menu to order or not, but everyone goes for the buffet--that's clear. The menu changes daily and is written very neatly up on a small chalk board in the front however it's going to be country cookin' at it finest regardless. Saturday night is apparently the fish fry: they had a variety of fried seafood plus a shrimp scampi and fried chicken--also ribs I believe. They apparently always have fried chicken and it's very good fried chicken, too--not the very best I've ever had, but quite good. Of what they had on Saturday night that was good--beyond the fried chicken--I'm a fan of the mac'n'cheese (very good), butter beans, fried mullet (local I would bet, tasted very fresh), coleslaw, and hush puppies. The fried shrimp and shrimp scampi on the other hand seemed to be from frozen and not very good, overcooked. Crayfish were ok. Sweet potato casserole was bland--I've had much better. They fixed four or five cobblers and those I tried were pretty good--apple, peach, and a bread pudding-like one with blueberries. It's not quite five-star but it's an experience at a good price and overall good food. I'd be curious to try the lunch buffet--I kind of felt they were just trying too hard at the Saturday dinner and had a bit too much out to have quality the highest across the board. Still for $17 including your drink you cannot beat an all-you-can-eat buffet featuring very good fried chicken and the other fixin's plus fried mullet--I mean, forget all the other main dishes, that's plenty and a deal at that price. Certainly worth checking out if in Madison.

I have waited upwards of 30 minutes for a meal to be prepared. Today when I went there, they were out of chicken tenders, but I had already paid online so I told them that they could replace it with chicken, but for two tenders, they only wanted to give me one thigh because the thighs were big. I have no idea if the fees were big because I didn't get to look at them, but I explained to them that there was no way that I was going to take one piece of chicken for two tenders, because the tenders are more expensive. I didn't care, what chicken I got besides one they could've given me a wing and I would be OK with it. The other fault with this is that I couldn't cancel the order because I had prepaid online so I have to go through a robot to get my money, which has not reached my account yet. this is the second time with this location that I've tried to get a full refund because of them being out of a product. The last time I didn't get a refund either because you never talk to a human. I do not recommend this location at all. Every employee I deal with it. That place is very snippy from the time they take your order to the time you show up for the window and they give you your order. They are not pleasant whatsoever. They need to take lessons from the Louisville, Kentucky Popeyes, that is a wonderful place to go, so if you ever in Louisville, check out the Popeyes on Bardstown Road.

We decided to go ahead and give them a shot because the reviews looked solid and the wife wanted pizza. Well we are glad we did. The wait staff were very friendly and helpful. We were feeling adventurous so we ordered the porky pie (pizza with pulled pork, bacon, red onion, bbq sauce and dill pickles). It was very good, the crust was done perfectly. We also ordered cheese curds which were delicious. The inside of the building was very clean and well kept (including the bathroom). Definitely worth giving it a try if you are in the area.

The service was absolutely amazing the waitress was very nice and attentive always checking in on us and making sure we were happy with the food. The place itself was so cute it's rustic Italian decor makes it very welcoming and peaceful, highly recommend. Now for the food! We started off with the fried mozzarella sticks which by the way are HOME MADE! I was very impressed it was very tasty! We also ordered a small half pepperoni/ cheese pizza and it was so so good! Just the right amount of crunch, cheese, and sauce. It was honestly just an all around amazing pizza! I very much enjoyed this place and would most definitely recommend to anyone looking for a good relaxing experience and some awesome food!

I would really love the recipe!!! As far as my server went, we'll she spent more time talking to her boyfriend than she did taking care of my family. My family is very important to me and they come to visit me twice a year because they live in Italy. When they do come, I bring them here. We sat at a table with 7 people. At this time you all were not busy. Our server stood at the table which we learned later was her boyfriend. At that time my niece had dropped her drink and fries on accident on the floor. A young lady with a hat on stopped and helped clean the floor up and made another drink and made sure to get another order of fries for us. My server at this time was not even to be found. I stopped the lady who helped us to thank her and she was so nice and so pleasant and I asked for her name and it was Gina. Very sweet young lady. She told me she worked in the back, but would help with anything else. I told her we was great. I wish we could have tipped her for her going above and beyond to help me and my out of town family. She was great. I will ask for her when I come back. After she left our server FINALLY showed back up and we explained to her what happened. Honesty all I could smell was cigarette smoke. I'm not sure of her name, but she was a young white female with glasses and tattoos. I believe it began with a "N". Now I did leave her a $5 tip only because I feel obligated to do that, but in reality the young lady Gine helped us more. I'm telling you this information so in hopes it will help in some kind of way. Other than that, I love the update you all have done!!! Looks so good and inviting now!! Again, thank you for reading and hopefully will help in some kind of way!! We will be back very soon!! Taylor Johns VP, Thomasville, Ga
