This restaurant would really earn 3 stars in my book. The pulled pork sandwich was dry... I mean dry (1 star). I have never had a dry pulled pork sandwich. The ribs and chicken was OK, and the save comes from the sausage. The sides were also OK, with the fries being cold, the mashed potatoes equaling KFC, and the mac n cheese lacking originality. But... We arrived at closing time and they accommodated us. So, service is 5 stars, maybe 6 stars. However, if you are helping out customers, don't disappoint them with a 3 star meal. We had high hopes in the beginning. The place was busy with a wait. Always good to see. The service was quick at first but definitely slowed down as the time went on. We didn't have anything to drink during our first half of the meal. Speaking of the meal it was hit & miss. We enjoyed the salad bar. Everything was nice & fresh. The blooming onion sauce was really good. We would maybe try the onion rings with that sauce instead. My sister & I shared a few things & we really enjoyed the wings crisp & smoked flavor. I would recommend Those for sure. The smoked chicken was Smokey & tender & With the bbq sauce it was really good. The sweet & hot mixed was our favorite BBQ combo. The baked beans were okay too The ribs were not a good choice for me. I just ate around them. My sister & husband said their Mac & cheese was cold & not very flavorful. They took about one bite each. (We didn't say anything & I'm sure they would have fixed that) we just didn't feel it was necessary so don't hold that against them. The restaurant is just a mile off the highway -- easy on, easy off -- with plenty of parking. The place was packed for Sunday lunch, which is always a good sign. We ordered takeout at the bar (our server was super sweet), and the food took about 20 minutes to come out. I had the half rack of ribs with a mini corn cobette and coleslaw -- tender, flavorful, and the sweet BBQ sauce was spot-on. My husband went for the pulled pork sandwich with fries, which came out hot and perfectly crispy. We both loved our meals. The vibe inside is fun and rustic, with a woodsy, cabin feel, taxidermy animals on display, and plenty of TVs for catching a game. The outside has a big barn-style look that fits the name. We decided to try a place that was off our radar, away from the city and interstate and this was a gem. We were seated right away and the staff was very friendly. They even offered us a gluten friendly menu. The decor is unique. Much was wood, but light colored, and deer hanging like you'd find at a lodge. The food was wonderful. I ordered and then my husband ordered the same. The sliced pork was perfection as it was extremely tender, flavorful and twice as much as I could eat so I'll have a sandwich for lunch tomorrow. The sides were great as well and the green beans are just like what your Southern grandmother used to make. The prices were very reasonable. This is definitely worth another try. read more

I got the pulled pork plate, cole slaw and fries. We both had the salad bar today as well. ***Looking like a long run and workout tonight*** Ambiance is always nice, and everything was outstanding! The combination of pulled pork, coleslaw and cheese on this 10 oz burger with their own sauce absolutely took my breath away. I have had some great burgers in our travels around the eastern and central parts of the United States. I was out for a ride and in the Live Oak area, and decided to grab some lunch since it was that time. This was on a Sunday, and a little bit after noon, so of course I managed to catch the church crowd. Riding up, there is plenty of parking. From the outside, it looks like any other sports bar based barbecue place, and inside I got the same vibe... There is a bar, of course, and then the typical booths and some tables. As it was the aforementioned Sunday, there was a line waiting to get seats, but I bypassed that and sat at the bar instead. I got my menu and water, then went through the menu. Pretty standard items on the menu for a barbecue place, and I went for the rib platter with baked beans and fries. The ribs were decent, but the sauce selection was minimal. It would have been nice to have a bit of selection on sauces to choose from. I like to get the fries and baked beans as the sides, because you can add sauce to the beans, then use them as a dip for both the ribs and fries. The food was fine... nothing to really shout out about, but also not bad. It falls within my range of "Yeah, I can eat here again" so that is good. The servers were efficient though a bit over-run... the bar attendant was also handling multiple tables outside of the bar, so it really seemed like they did not have enough people working to handle the Sunday church rush. read more

The ribs are advertised as dry-rub, but I recall there being a decent sauce on them. Sausage was two four-inch halves of yum. Onion rings were cut very big but fried crispy. Service was good. This was not the best first impression of our Florida road trip so far. We stopped here on our way to Miami for a competition. I wish we hadn't. Coming from Texas, bbq is an institution and I hate being this mean, this should not be allowed to be called bbq. Maybe change it to diner? We had chicken, what I assumed was shaved or sliced beef, macaroni and corn. When I have to say that the macaroni and the bbq sauce were the best thing, yeah... They were both so good they bumped up to a two. First, you can't technically order meat a la carte. Huh?!? The chicken...under seasoned. The chicken was overcooked...how you say? The skin was as tough as leather, and dry to boot. Then the corn...no seasoning, just a boiled cob of corn. I was so upset, by how much we paid. I've bought bbq fundraiser plates that would blow this establishment out of the water. I mean shame on y'all. I wish I hadn't been so upset, and should've asked if they sold the spicy bbq sauce in bottles. If we are ever in the area I would drive by just to buy the sauce. read more

First, it's kind of a local legend and fan favorite--the kind of place packed at 8pm on a freakin' Wednesday--yes, a Wednesday. The decor is Western/cowboy/hunter with a lot of taxidermied beasts and rustic woodwork. It's homey, comfy, and fun. There also is a full bar which is popular, especially when games are on that folks want to see. Service is friendly but could perhaps be a bit faster--it seemed like to-go orders came out faster than orders for in-house but I suppose if ordered ahead that only makes sense. They appear to have a drive-thru window, too, right off of the bar. As to the food, not bad BBQ pork but I've had better. The major issue is their house sauces are limited in variety and just not that great--okay, but not like wow. Not of the variety nor caliber of Pearl's in Micanopy, in example. But the pork itself is tasty and my sides--seasoned rice and green beans were great. Possibly in fact the best green beans I've ever had, even. Would I make a special trip up from my home in Newberry? Likely not, but I have friends up around here so it was a good place for us to meet up. If in the area it's a great choice and if you live in Live Oak or nearby, you've got to check it out. read more

Drove about 10 minutes off of I-75 into Live Oak based on the yelp reviews. The place had a great BBQ restaurant vibe with pretty much everything made out of wood and lots of mounted critters (someone clearly is a hunter). My server was responsive and friendly. The prices were reasonable. The food was unfortunately not equal to the service or the place itself. I'm not saying it was bad but it wasn't great either. I had the sliced beef (dry) and the sausage (ok). The Carolina style sauce was great. The fries were ordered crispy and served crispy.. delicious. Considering the choices in this area for interstate travellers, you should maybe give them a try. I would probably go back again if I was starving and near Live Oak but, I would try something else. read more

The Sirloin steaks were good and fatty. Mine was especially fatty. The baked potato was a good size, and came with butter and sour cream. The baked beans were sweet. I did not like the Corn Nuggets. They were tasteless. The service was very Show. We waited one and a half hours for our meal. The steaks were not cooked to order and had to be returned.
