Had a family get together here after long night because they're open really late 1 AM. And we had a blast hung out in the patio area with all the TVs. We had great service. They were so friendly and very good service. We got our food on time. Food was hot and crispy. The beer was cold and it was buy one get one that was awesome. And they actually had a really good beer list. I enjoy the pretzel bites. They were soft but crispy nicely salted and I enjoyed it. My family got some of these food items as a midnight snack kind of thing. My sister really enjoyed the buffalo salad. My brother-in-law love quesadillas. And the beer hit the spot. There's plenty of parking there. I definitely recommend this place and I would definitely come back again, when I'm in town. read more

We were just passing through and looking for a place to watch the final 4 and get some dinner. We chose Gators because we'd never been. First, the service was awesome! Our server, Liyah, was quick and knowledgeable. All drinks are 2 for 1 all day every day? She brought us each 2 beers.... They averaged 3.50$ per glass! And appetizers were also quick and good! We had pretzel bites and a French onion soup that was perfectly browned and cheesey! For dinner 2 of us got chicken sandwiches and 2 of us got the garlic butter smash burger... delish!!! Tots and sweet potato fries were both wonderful! During dinner, I developed the hiccups... our sever brought me a lime to try to get rid of them. I'd never heard of this but it worked!! Not usually my style but this place doesn't turn into a rock concert, they keep it reasonable and other diners can still find peace and talk. Overall a great mix of elements. Well, the truth is, we were waiting to be seated for way too long. The place was not crowded so it was unacceptable. We were finally seated and abandoned. We were contemplating leaving when Morgan arrived and apologized. She was not advised we were seated in her area. She was very sincere and apologetic. We stopped in for a drink and a snack. The Southwest egg rolls were as expected and typical bar food. Turned out the drinks were 2 for 1 which was not expected. I'd say the food was a 3 and the service from Morgan was a 5. I ordered a black and blue bacon burger. This should be a burger with melted blue cheese. What I got was burger with a side of blue cheese dressing that didn't taste like blue cheese, nor did it have any decent chunks of blue cheese in it. My husband ordered fish and chips. The tartar sauce had no dill or lemon, just mayo and pickle relish. That is not tartar sauce. On the bright side, the fries were delicious and the cole slaw was good. read more

I visited on a busy Friday evening and it was packed inside! Despite this we were seated quickly. It took a little while for the waitress to get to us but she was super friendly. The inside is mostly tables and they have an outside eating area. The menu has a lot of selections but no where near the options they used to have years ago. The noise level on a weekend say is exactly what you'd expect for a dinner rush. A family favorite however is on the menu and three out of four of us ordered the Monte Cristo. It was sooo good! The batter they used to deep fry it in and the ham and cheese paired so well with the jam it comes with. I wish there was just a little bit more fries on my plate because they were soooo delicious! Our food came out within 15-20 minutes which was nice. Our server checked on us throughout the meal but wasn't overwhelming. She also was great at providing extra napkins without us needing to ask. I am writing to bring to your attention an issue that occurred during our visit on Friday night. We had a reservation for a birthday party at 7:00 PM with approximately 18 guests. My wife and I arrived at 6:45 PM and were seated promptly. Our server took our drink orders and began taking food orders shortly thereafter. The first meals for roughly half of our group arrived around 7:20 PM. The remaining meals, including mine and my wife's, did not arrive until approximately 7:45 PM. By that time, the first half of our party had already finished eating. During this time, my sweet tea was empty for about 30 minutes without being refilled. More concerning, the table directly behind us included a couple, an infant, and an older adult who had a dog with them. This was not a service animal, nor was it wearing any form of identification or vest. The dog appeared to have fleas -- I was bitten twice, once on the arm and once on the neck, and I had to brush off several more fleas from my shirt and pants. This experience was both uncomfortable and unsanitary, especially in a dining environment. I wanted to make you aware of the situation so it can be addressed appropriately. read more

Family was in town for a baseball tournament and it was the perfect spot for our group. Good food and cold drinks.

Very friendly service at the bar. It is March Madness and they do not want to pay for the channels to carry the games. Not sure what kind of self-respecting sports bar makes that decision but it was a horrible one. The bartender was friendly so I ordered an appetizer and left half of it on the plate. Southwest Egg Rolls were burnt and mostly inedible. The staff seems very friendly, so it is really a shame that management makes terrible decisions that front line staff then has to deal with. First time checking out this place In Lake City. We first asked if we could sit out back. There were two other tables. Mykayla was our server. The first round of drinks were quite terrible. She as nice enough to suggest something different for us and those drinks were much better. The food was delicious. I had a cup of Chili and wished I had ordered a bowl. My wife is a vegetarian and she also gave us some plant based wing options they had on the menu. The wings were delicious and so were the peppered sweet potato fries. Dana- manager at this time, comes out to talk. His stance was one of aggression if I can read body language. I HAD TO ASK HIM TO BACK UP!!! With his shit attitude and face close to mine- he blatantly says I should have returned it and he had zero intentions of providing me with an efficient solution. His words were of anger and sheer frustration with the mere action of me requesting an 11 dollar and change refund. I maintained my patience, manners, and walked out stating I'd never return. Piss poor management style, typical white privileged male who is clearly used to mistreating females (can't imagine anything different). With my still intact polite manners, I left the premises with the promise of never returning. He lost a good customer over a fkn 11.00 drink that no one in their right mind would have paid for. Guys- a bottle of Tito's is 25. Come one now... Don't expect management to help with absolutely any issues you might have at this place while Dana is on guard dog watch over every Penny he apparently looses directly out his pockets. Worst food in lake city. The whole establishment just doesn't seem to care about quality at all. Ordered a salad and the lettuce had brown, welted pieces. The fish tacos had almost no fish in them at all and the pasta chicken had tasteless, dry chicken. Like how can you mess up food to this extent ? If you go there, only order simple, bar food, anything else will be extremely disappointing. Oh, and when we went to pay for what we felt was subpar food and service, the waitress stuck the credit card machine in our face right at the 20%tip line... Gator's Dockside is a small, Florida-based chain of bar/restaurants that definitely walk the edge between bar and restaurant well. If you want to grab a few drinks, this place will be more than sufficient. If you want a meal, while the food is not groundbreaking, it is good and the service is decent in a casual dining kind of way. The wings are good, though be advised that the price of wings have climbed dramatically. Burgers are good, too. The place also has a good vibe. As I said, it is a place that you will feel at home ordering a meal at and won't feel out of place just going in to order a drink or two. read more

So I went in to pick up an order and asked if I could get a cup of coffee. The girl at the front station went into the kitchen and then came back out and said they didn't have any brewed. The f.o. was, measured out right between 1/4 and 1/2 cup of beef broth (tasted of nothing else), 2 or 3 miniscule slivers of onions, and an untoasted square of light bread with a slice of tasteless cheese. The chili was a joke unto itself. Pulverized beef, no broth whatsoever, crowded with raw onions and a pinch of shredded cheese. We hadn't been to Gator's for a while so we went back last night for dinner after a long hiatus. We were expecting great things. The first thing we noticed was the portion of the gator bites appetizer had gotten pretty stingy, not like what we remembered. It used to be a fairly generous appetizer, but when it came to the table, the serving dish was half empty. Way short, compared to what the Gator bites serving used to bet. To Gator's credit, they were as good as ever, but we were still licking our chops for more when they were gone, and they were gone pretty fast. I ordered the Ribeye special, but to my disappointment, it was dense and entirely forgettable. Although done medium as ordered, it was just too much work to chew it. I also had the mixed vegetables with my steak, which came as bland steamed mixed vegetables, so boring that I didn't eat them. No effort was made in the kitchen to give them any individuality or a personality of their own. Even just a little drizzle of melted butter and some parsley on top would have gone a long way to make them more fun and worth going out for. Our friend ordered the grouper, which was a small and very thin portion, leaving him still hungry, so he ate off his wife's plate. Dinner at Gator's was a general disappointment, and suffice it to say that we are not going back to Gator's again. We quietly paid our bill without complaint and brought home our food uneaten for the opossums and raccoons. I will share my other complaint about Gator's famous "two-for-one" deal on drinks, which means getting two beers at the same time when I ordered a beer. I explained that I didn't want two beers on the table at the same time because by the time I finished one, the other wasn't cold anymore. No matter; I would have to take it or leave it. I again explained that when I order a beer, I want it ice cold and I want one beer, so if it's a two-for one deal, I'll take the second one when I'm ready. Why should it matter when it comes to the table? Forget it. The waitress explained that they HAD to bring me two at the same time, and that was that. HUH?? I asked for the manager and explained why I didn't want to have two beers on the table at the same time. No luck. It's "company policy" that they bring you two beers, you'd better like it, and that's that. Well, I DON'T like it, and I don't like beer nazis either. I like my beer ice cold and brought to the table when I ask for it. I left Gator's with a distaste for their corporate arrogance and general disregard for a customer's simple request. They are getting a 3 star, bad service, but the ribs were delicious. Our waitress was TERRIBLE. Her name is Mary. Day we were there, (7/17/23) between 3-5 PM. She had a horrible, bad attitude. My sister ordered the ribs, with two sides...the server then asked what sauce, and then TAPPED HER HAND on the back of the booth, as if her response was not being answered quickly enough. Guess what, my sister ordered quickly and answered VERY quickly, so what was HER problem??????? Nasty. Inexcusable service. Worst wings ever! Definitely not award winning like you advertise on your menu. They were dried out and not sauced very well. You can tell they fry them in large batches and hot hold them in warmers. Why?? Just make them to order. Good wings take 20 mins to make, not 3 mins after I order them. My fries were luke warm and soggy which nobody likes.
