it was my first time ever using a rental place for tables and chairs for my baby shower. i placed the order a week in advance and told the gal my party was at 11 so if we can the tables and chairs by 10am that would be fine. placing the order wasn't difficult. Two days before my party i called to confirm (didn't want 50 guests at my house with no place to sit and eat!) and they confirmed that the tables will be delievered between 8-10am. i woke up early saturday morning to make sure i would be able to hear the doorbell. 9:50 rolled around and no sign of the truck, i called the office and the lady was kinda rude. she told me delivery was 10-12. i then told her there's no way that would be because my party was at 11 so she check again and then realized they screwed up on the time and would reroute the driver. they arrived at 10:35 and i had to rush to set everythign up. that's not the end. the driver told me that he would pick up on monday between 8-10am so i had my in law come over and wait, 11am rolls around and i give them a call and they said oh, it's actually going to be between 1-3. i told them to give me a call beforehand to let me know so i can send my inlaw back over. they called me at 3:30 with a rude tone saying we're here, where is your in law? i felt that not only was the service bad, but people were rude and timing for these delieveries are so important. i would never use them again! read more

Rented a few tables and linens from here, was reasonably priced but customer service was variable. The woman I spoke with the first time was not very friendly or helpful but the second woman I spoke with and placed my order was great. Called them another time to warn them about my steep driveway and ask for a small truck, the woman who answered said I should call back and talk to the manager but would make a note. When the delivery truck came, the guy got mad at me and said I should have told them and that he just happen to have the small truck that day. When they came to pick up the tables (a day later than planned), I was at work but he argued with my mom and told her a table was missing. When she told him that we had only ordered one of those tables, he said no, it was delivered by another truck?! It was wierd. Was not a horrible experience but will probably not use them again since I've had better experiences with other companies. read more

Not pleased with service. Paid $50 for delivery. 45 minutes late on drop off, gave me 1/2 hour window for pick-up, when they were 30 minutes late I called. They claimed I wasn't home. Not true. Said would send someone right over and hung up on me. They were borderline rude everytime I spoke with them. read more

We came here to reserve pipes and drapes. The lady helping us with reservation is kind of mean maybe because we have so many questions. My daughter doesn't line the color of the drapes so we asked her if we can just rent the pipes only. She said that would be cheaper so we end up buying cloth to make drapes. We spent over $400 for that. On the day of pick up another lady helped us and she gave me the final bill and I asked her how come it's the same price as the first lady quoted us with the drapes. She said that if we ordered the drapes the pipes were included. The first lady did mot mention that to us. If I had known I would just go ahead and take the drapes instead of spending more money. I was furious because they are not truthful. The only consolation that they did is to give me a discount but still it's a rip off. I would never go back to this place nor recommend it to anybody read more

I am giving this place the lowest star rating possible after my experience with them. WORST customer service I have ever experienced. I am an event planner and I would never use this place again! My mom and I gave a bridal shower for a friend this weekend and we rented tables and chairs from C&M. Someone RSVP'd late. I called the day before they were going to drop off the rentals and asked to add ONE chair and ONE plate. Not a difficult request...you would think. They refused to put it on the truck because the truck had already been loaded. I could not believe that it was that difficult for them to place a couple more items on the truck. They refused and the lady was so rude it was unbelievable. My mom could not believe the news after I spoke with them that she called and asked to speak with the owner. He was unavailable (of course) and they said they would leave a message with him. The staff then said that we would have to come in between the hours of 8 am and 4:30 pm to pick up the items. The times that the store is open is so convenient for those of us that work during the day. The next day I decided I had no choice but to go into the shop. I was lucky that I could go first thing and be late to work. I went in and of course the lady working was rude and asked if the owner had called my mom. He had not called. But she said she left him a message. She gave me a piece of paper and said I had to go around back and get the items. Most party rental places go and load your car...not this one. And then she had the nerve to say "Enjoy your party. I hope your mom calms down." I was so appalled at how unprofessional she was I could not even justify that with a response. It wasn't even worth my time. I went around back and of course no one was there to help me but I was able to locate the items. When the items arrived they were dirty and their tables are so scratched that you can see the surface through the tablecloths. And after all the drama they put the EXTRA one items in the delivered bunch. I am pretty sure they just couldn't count. Do not use C&M. There are other rental places in the area with much more professionalism. Oh and also we still have not received a call from the owner. He probably never got the message. read more

They provide Nordstrom type customer service. My wife was traveling, put me in charge of backyard child birthday props. She got back and freaked out that the tent was the wrong size, wrong dance floor size to cover what she wanted on the lawn etc. Sandy and Andy went out of there way to not charge me for the tent and had the crew make multiple trips down to my home in Danville to make it right with my wife and the party. read more

They may have what you need, but are rude on the phone. One lady was nice. The other was impatient. They charge $80 to deliver to Clayton and only $55 to deliver to Berkeley, Emeryville, Oakland.... Clayton is 15 mins away at most. What a rip-off. read more

Renting from this company was one of the worst and most frustrating experiences. First, the woman (Simone) who took my order would not listen to what I wanted. She constantly interrupted me and was short tempered. I felt as if I was inconveniencing her by place a $300 order. When our order arrived, we were missing many items. The white place looked alike, but they were not the same, and many were so scraped up that they looked dirty. We had mismatched silverware. We asked for desert plate and appetizer plates and they sent long rectangle plates. Our order did not reflect rectangle. Have you ever tried to serve a piece of cake on a rectangular plate. It wasn't pretty. Lastly, I order goblets for water. They sent wine glasses. She (same rude woman) argued with me regarding what I had ordered. I had to be very firm with her about making the corrections and getting them to me ASAP. Simone quipped at me and told me sarcastically to have a nice day. They did correct the order, but we barely had time to setup for our luncheon. To the owners of C & M, you need to look at Simone. She is hurting your business. Take a look at your reviews. i ordered tables, chairs, linens, and 20 x 20 tent for an outdoor bb shower. everything was delivered as promised - and it was the correct colors. kudos to the setup crew, they were profession and arrived on time at 8am. they even picked up leaving everything back to normal. definitely would use again for an event. read more

I have used C&M for years now, for various informal events, and have never had an issue with them. We always pick up and return ourselves. I think people just need to check the place out in person first (or look online), to get a better sense of expectations/quality of items. The staff is very accommodating, especially the fellas in the warehouse area who help load the goods. If you live in the area and have a big event coming, give them a try! read more

We have been using the services of C & M for more than 10 years. We have rented tables, chairs, linens, dishes, glassware, eating utensils and sometimes umbrellas. Each and every time the delivery is on time and quick. They have even helped us erect the tables - now that's customer service! Kris is so helpful each and every time. The staff are professional and very helpful. I have recommended C & M to other friends for their party needs. Some for 40th birthday parties, some for Bar/Bat Mitzvah needs and some like us just for a backyard party or inside party. We've used C&M Party Props for our annual party for 80-100 people the last 4 years, plus for a few smaller events throughout the year. Great service---really organized and capable people on the phone to help you pick out what you need (and they do have everything you might need for a big party/dinner/picnic!), and great delivery guys who will take the materials wherever you want to put them. They deliver in a time window that's pretty tight, so you don't have to stay at home for half a day to wait for them. Overall, top notch! read more

They delivered on time and got our order down perfectly. We worked with C&M twice, once for a bar mitzvah and once for a large Thanksgiving party in our home, both in the past couple of years. They came through with flying colors both times. We went to them at the recommendation of our caterer for the bar mitzvah, and have been glad ever since that he sent us there. They were responsive, delieverd everything correctly and on time, and maybe best of all, several times came up with all sorts of ideas that we hadn't thought of (e.g., if you are getting X, you'll also need Y, or if you are getting A, you won't need B). In the end, that also helped us save some money. We found the people in their office to be frank and straightforward, and best of all, efficient. For the bar mitzvah, we had to make several changes along the way as numbers or needs changed, and they patiently accommodated us each time.
