My first experience was just stopping by to get my cars inspected, but I am now a customer for life. After having other places fail my cars in the past for a burned out marker light or turn signal and offer to replace said bulb for $50 it was surprised when Autohaus replace the bulb for $1.75. The actual cost of the bulb and no charge for the minute or two of labor to put it in. After paying, was driving off the lot and immediately noticed a huge difference - it rode much smoother. The next day, researched the tire brand thinking with such a low price, it was a bad brand - only to discover that the brand is a recognized one and of high quality; additionally, the specific tire's description specifies that it is made for snow, rain, and for off road. I love, love, love Piedmont Tire & Auto. The professionals are incredibly good, attentative, and polite. One recommendation is to either drop it off or Uber somewhere while waiting. Though they are efficient and operate, smoothly, they have a constant flow of customers. They appreciate buffer time to accommodate everyone.

Of note: John frequently offers money up for anyone to grab regarding either tire service, coffee, etc. If you contact him about this, he will warp it as asking for handouts. Also, on the very large facebook forum, the group rules state fundraisers must be approved by admin (him). If you ask him to post a medical fundraiser for medical equipment (saving a sick service dog), he will again warp it as asking for handouts to the public. He will then utilize his platform of 30k locals to bash previous customers- including posting their picture with name calling and cruel accusations. This is the caliber of businessman you are dealing with.

VTA gave me an estimate of $627 for the repair, which I found extremely excessive. I have previous experience working in a mechanic shop and have performed repairs including brakes, tie rods, shocks, struts, and ball joints. I decided to do the repair myself and had the wheel alignment done at Icon Auto Services in Manassas for only $80. I returned to VTA for the reinspection. The technician took the vehicle inside, completed the inspection, placed a passing inspection sticker on the windshield, and parked my car outside. However, after doing so, he came back and told me that my brakes were not working and that I needed to pay another $39 diagnostic fee or he would fail the vehicle again. He also mentioned contacting the State Police/Troopers and told me it would be illegal to drive the vehicle. I found this extremely concerning, especially because the vehicle had already passed the reinspection and the passing sticker had been placed on the windshield. My brakes had been working normally, and I had no indication of a brake problem. I took my keys and left. Since then, I have driven the vehicle approximately 300 miles, and the brakes, ABS, and ESC have continued to work normally with no problems whatsoever. The $627 estimate was already disappointing, but what really bothered me was the way the reinspection was handled. I felt pressured and intimidated into paying for an additional diagnostic service after my vehicle had already been passed. Based on this experience, I will not be returning to Virginia Tire & Auto. I strongly recommend getting a second opinion and comparing prices before authorizing repairs there.
