I usually take my rings to Johnson Jewelers in El Paso to get inspected under the Preferred Warranty. A few years ago, I brought my wedding rings to CD Clark in San Antonio to get checked because I could not take them to Johnson Jewelers. My husband and I had been greeted by Mr. Chad Clark and felt welcomed. Unlike this time where I was made to feel like I did not belong there. I was buzzed into C.D. Clark Diamonds & Design Studio, only to be ignored for several minutes. Not a hello, how can I help you and not even an I will be right with you. They could have at least acknowledged me by saying hello, someone will be right with you but they didn't. Let me be clear that I didn't mind waiting but I did mind being ignored. After waiting minutes at the counter, Joshua came by to see what I needed. I explained that I was there was to have my ring prongs checked. Joshua took my ring to the back to get inspected. Then he returned and explained the prongs needed to be re-tipped and smoothed out. He also explained that I would have to leave my ring for about 7 days so they could fix it or I could choose not to have the work done. It's your choice to leave your ring or not. If you decide not to leave it... it will be one less job that I have to do. Wow, I could not believe what I had just heard. I should have taken my ring elsewhere but I didn't. I decided to leave my ring. Then I called on Tuesday, 1/17/23, was told they had not worked on my ring but that it would be ready the next morning. I went to pick up my ring the next day. I was told my ring had still not been worked on and that I would have to return Thursday morning. Joshua said sorry, I dropped the ball. I just felt that it was not a sincere apology. On Thursday, 1/19/23, I went once again to pick up my ring. Joshua told the salesperson give her 25% off for her trouble as she gave me my ring. The salesperson, in turn tells him it was a free service. To which he replies even better. I will never go to C.D. Clark Diamonds & Design Studio again. I would rather drive to Austin if I have to. I will keep sharing my story so that others know how they treat some of their customers. read more

Joshua Clark, the owners son, is the most unprofessional and disrespectful person I have ever met. After waiting over 4 months for my ring to get here, Joshua made fun of the ring I made and called it ugly and outdated and said that nobody would want to marry me with that ring. For a company that claims to be Christian, you should be embarrassed to have Joshua as not only an employee, but as someone who directly represents the company. After seeing numerous commercials I decided to go through my jewelry for pieces that are broken, outdated and have no sentimental value. I went through my items and set them aside for a later date, to take another look over and make certain I can do without them. So some time went by and I brought my items to C.D. The store front is nice and clean with up to date furniture in a cozy sitting area and features a few teller areas that remind me of a bank. The teller areas are very discreet with tall walls between each. First, your jewelry will be tested with a magnet, then the jewelry will be checked visually to determine if it is marked by karat. After that, the jewelry will be checked professionally to make certain the karat is correct and finally the items are weighed. I walked out happy, with a bit less junk jewelry and a check! No transparency. I took in a 19.3 gram (14k) ring and I was offered $250. I had a earlier quote from another business for $403.00. I asked Haliey at C.D. Clark how they got their price and she replied "we pay scrap minus 5%", which of course is not true. Not happy with my experience. The storefront was clean, professional and appeared safe. read more

I visited this business in the North Star mall. I had small loose diamonds and a diamond ring (with full documented paperwork) . I was told that only one man can give me an estimate to purchase my merchandise. HOW EVER he only works two days a week and leaves by two in the afternoon. They took pictures of my merchandise and all my info. Promised I would get a call back on the following Monday. This was over a month ago! I yet have been contacted. This is very disappointing! You see a lot of commercials for this business making promises to give great service. IF I GET A CALL BACK, I will not do business with them. How can u be located in a mall and only one person can make decisions, that works only there about 10 hrs a week. Very inconvenient, especially if you have a full time job. read more

I took my Mom to Clark Diamonds to sell some old jewelry that she had inherited! Neither one of us know anything about jewelry so we didn't know what to expect! The people at Clark Diamonds are very warm and friendly people! They sat down with us and went over each piece of jewelry! They explained the jewelry market, told us what they look for, what makes a piece of jewelry desirable! In the end, we were offered what I feel is a very fair and reasonable offer! During the entire process, it was a very relaxed atmosphere, no pressure or stress, the way it should be! My Mother and I walked out of Clark Diamonds, very happy people and I feel that in addition to the money, we got a crash course in "gemology" LOL! In the future, if I had any more jewelry to sell or if I were looking to buy jewelry, I wouldn't hesitate to return to Clark Diamonds! CD Clark & Company will not like this review but this is how things when down today. I own(ed) a half ounce American Gold eagle that had a bezel around it. Spot gold price today 8/17/2011 is about $1790 /oz. I really wasn't interested in selling it, I just wanted to shop around and see what the value would be. I first took the item to Gold Unlimited on the access road off from Blanco Rd. They indicated that because of the bezel, it lowered the price. I thought, OK, not knowing really why. They offered $775.00. Next stop was CD Clark & Company at North Star Mall. As the previous poster said, it was nice and clean. As I waited I noticed the walls had a few proverbs like Proverbs 22:1 "A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold.". Yes... it made me feel real comfortable dealing with these people and I should look no further as I should get as best price here as anywhere'. When I was called, the first question they asked me if I had been anywhere else to get prices as they're "knowing for beating any price out there'. I said yes, I did get a quote but I want them to provide me their best just and fair pricing. She first started lowering expectations saying the bezel attached diminished the value. I mean this was a 1/2 ounce American Eagle coin and the gold content should not be lessened. I asked what if I take the bezel off? She said it still would have some marks where it was attached where some of the gold may have been shaved off to make it fit. Still bewildered, I asked for a quote. I was given a quote of $670. I was somewhat disappointed thinking the minimum should be 50% of $1790, or around $895. I said I had been given a quote of $775.00 and that it wasn't enough. Then she started say... well... "we could probably work with that." I said how can you work with that? It's $105 more than your offer, or almost 16% more! How come you still want to buy this and why didn't you give me a just and fair quote in the first place that I asked for? At that point the 'manager' who was sitting in the next booth came over and said she had heard the conversation. She said they melt is all down and again tried to devalue the item because of the possible nicks where the bezel was attached. I said I don't care if this piece was cut in half, you still have the gold content. She backed off and said I could go around and shop if I wanted to. I said why should she care if there were 'nick's or shavings off it, just weigh it and give a fair price. Feeling frustrated I left because what she was saying didn't pass the smell test. Next stop was Harry's Jewelry and Coin Shop on Bandera Rd. I gave it to him, he weighed, subtracted the 1/2 oz for the coin, determined the gold in the bezel (for melting) and said, I'll pay you $950 for it. I said.. "I'll take it." I got the gold value of the coin (1790/2=895 plus gold in the bezel of $55.) He was straight forward and I'm sure he still will be making money. And, I was in and out of his place in less than 10 minutes. No BS. So, CD Clark & Co only offered $670 for an item that another dealer offered with no haggling of $950, about 50% more? I do not consider them honest gold dealers and would never trust their opinion. Everyone should do their homework and realize wolves do come in sheep's clothing. What really makes me angry was CD Clark put verses on their wall... and it was only there to deceive and to put people into a place of comfort and trust. They are, in my opinion, deceivers that should put the verse on the wall, and in their hearts :"Proverbs 11:1 The LORD abhors dishonest scales, but accurate weights are his delight.". Sure, their physical scales my weigh accurately, but their hearts obfuscates the truth with lies and deception. Their deception had to do with an American Eagle coin that had guaranteed wgt. What kinds of deception do you think you could expect if you bring in loose jewelry? Shop around, my friends. If I could have negative stars, they would earn those for using Scriptures to deceive. They should repent and be ashamed of themselves. read more
